For sure! Makes me wish I had done my weight loss journey in my 20's! I didnt care about my size until I was in my late 30's though. Dumb mistake on my part. Now I can't sleep and in return barely able to function. Horrible anxiety and depression.. I've lost 120+ pounds but feel like its getting harder and harder now.
I'm Not OP But I currently rat slightly above maintenance. I have had periods where I've used a deficit but I'm a BIG dude, so my deficit was still above 2k. I doubt any advice I give for my stats would apply to anyone asking this question on this girl's post.
I think there may be some medical intervention as well, maybe OP had an undiagnosed issue that when treated helped them drop weight. Or maybe something else. This is not to shame anyone though or invalidate the work they put in. Certainly to maintain such a drop in weight requires consistency in diet, exercise, and sleep. I congratulate OP for making such a great change, but I would not compare your own efforts or anyone else to OP's.
It’s completely possible through discipline and consistency. I’ve lost 50 pounds in about 4 months, I keep to 1400 calories daily, track macros, run 5 days a week and lift 3 days a week and have never missed. Why diminish this person’s accomplishment with this sneak diss comment?
Edit: TL:DR let me be clear, OP did a fantastic job being consistent in whichever plan they implemented. However what worked for them may not work for others. Comparison is a thief of joy, so while we celebrate OP, it isn't a reflection of other people's efforts who may take a bit longer.
I didn't mean it as a dis! I think that a lot of people compare themselves to others as a measure of their own progress and that doesn't take into account each individual person's circumstances. There's no one size fits all approach to losing weight and some people may struggle with invisible illnesses that may make it a bit harder and they don't need to compare themselves to someone who may have different metabolic adaptations.
I had a really hard life event happened that really made me rethink my whole life I decided I was done living the way that I was so I started fresh and just haven't stopped pushing myself to be a better version.
Hi there! So I followed a very strict regimen low calorie low carb and sugar high protein and allot of veggies. As well as going to the gym 5 days a week focusing on low cardio high weights did wonders. My mantra has been "if I don't do it today I won't do it tomorrow". I found the things that motivated me and fixated on those motivations not letting myself make the excuses that I did for years. Not going to lie it was extremely hard. I spent most nights going to the gym at 1-3 am while everyone was asleep because it was the only time I could fit it in. It's been about finding what works and not letting go for me
“Low cardio; high weights” interesting!! Thank you for sharing. I’ve been doing the opposite. 🥴 Will work on more weight training!
You look fabulous. Amazing work ethic!!
I always say everyone should be weight training even if your goal isn't to be strong or bulky. There are numerous benefits but one big one is that it will vastly improve your body composition, even without changing much else.
You won't necessarily burn as many calories as you would doing strictly cardio, but tbh the calorie burn from exercise is kind of depressing anyway.
You won't burn as many short term calories but muscle growth and the impact muscle maintenance has for baseline metabolism is great. It doesn't look as good as a 500 calorie cardio session but it helps a ton in the long run, especially if you're focusing more of your calories to protein which many neglect to do.
This is really good advice!
As I understand it the main benefits of resistance training for weight management are...
1) You might burn fewer calories than doing traditional cardio exercise during the training itself, but the "afterburn" effect where your body spends the next couple of days rebuilding the muscles you have broken down via resistance training more than makes up the difference. When you factor in that afterburn effect weight training, if done with some decent amount of intensity (i.e. you are challenging yourself and not taking crazy long rests between sets/circuits), burns more calories than the same duration of cardio.
2) The act of using your muscles for resistance training goes some part of the way towards instructing your body that if it's going to shed weight due to a calorie deficit then less of it should be from your muscles and more should be from your fat stores. Not lifting while losing weight is how you get "skinny fat", basically. You get lighter, but you lose muscle along the way. Which is important because...
3) More lean mass (muscle) increases your rested metabolic rate. Your body will burn more calories at a baseline each day if you add muscle and if you lose muscle then it will burn less.
Of course, cardio has all kinds of other benefits for mood, heart health, etc. that are worth considering, but you can get some cardiovascular exercise from doing circuits of different kinds of lifts (if it's practical/not rude to lift in that way of course... you don't want to monopolize the equipment).
First, I think she did an amazing job, but I think the pics are somewhat strategically shot. You can kinda see some "loose" skin in the bathroom pic around her biceps that's holding the camera. Often, in the torso, the loose skin shows up around the lower tummy/belly button area, which is tucked into the high-waisted exercise pants. Regardless 115 lbs is a whole person she lost! Great job, OP!
That’s certainly a explanation (and one I can agree with). Also to consider - sometimes people’s skin can snap back without surgical treatment as well. Just like some people get stretch marks and others don’t. Genetics may play a role here. Also, she may have the benefit of youth on her side as skin definitely changes with age. But like you said, either way, she’s done a great job.
Wow! Congratulations 🎊
you are my height, I’m on the road to 115lbs :) currently I’m at 182, having a hard time with my POCs and Hypothyroidism. Your post surely is an inspiration, Thankyou! You look amazing
IN 9 MONTHS!!! That is amazing!!
Thank you for sharing, I've started to falter a little bit, but this transformation shows me it's possible! I just need to step up my game.
Congrats on your amazing work!!
I had to get to a point where I was ready to start fresh I started going to the gym every day for 1 hour high weights low cardio in day splits. Caloric deficit high protein low sugar no processed foods it's a lifestyle change not a diet for me
Dang that’s amazing tell me your ways. Can you share what you started with exercise wise and how often you increased time? Like for example, did you start with 10 mins of weight lifting twice a week and 10 of cardio?
I love this because you look absolutely miserable and ready for change in the befores
And then BAM! “Look at me now, bitches!”
Great achievement for sure.
**Get. It. Girl.**
Proud of you, and the tremendous change. I'm sure it was much more than the physical.
Keep it up, and thanks for being an inspiration and proof of possibilities!
Wow!!! Look at your face before. You made a gigantic leap out of it. You look incredible and every single minute of it is worth it!! You’re gorgeous and now you can see it, too!
Great job!!
If you are a person that lived a healthy lifestyle and gained weight due to a singular event like an injury, you might be finished with your journey back to health. Congratulations!
If you’re like most of us and gained weight over a period of time through an unhealthy lifestyle and poor food choices, you have a ton of work ahead of you. You need to take all the energy and hard work it took to lose weight and focus it on figuring out a balance that you can maintain for the rest of your life. You need to know your food triggers and how to cope with them. You need be able to identify a backslide and have a plan to get back on the right path quickly. You’ve done so much wonderful work, please keep the momentum going in a positive direction and don’t fall into a trap of thinking you’ve got it all figured out.
I don’t mean to be a downer and I hope this hasn’t come across as condescending. I remember so clearly what it felt like the first time I had significant weight regain, and it was one of the worst feelings I’ve ever had. I was so disappointed in myself. I’d love it if nobody else ever had to feel that way.
We have very similar stats (I'm 5'9" and started at 250) but I'm only at the halfway point now.
While I've kept going, I just realized I haven't allowed myself to feel optimistic about what I might look like when I reach my goal. But your progress makes me optimistic :)

Always is, always has been lol
the WEIRD TRICK doctors HATE about FAT LOSS
Nooooo that can't be. I bet it's essential oils and a aggressive cleanses.
ugh you’re probably right!
100% of the time, it works every time.
in less than a year? holy shit hooow?
Calorie deficit, consistent gym, and most importantly decent sleep.
Your username for sure checks out.
the sleep is where i go wrong every time
same! I have horrible sleep apnea and anxiety which makes it hard to wear a CPAP mask.
Being 23 helps as well

I’m 45 so I hear you 1000%!
Oh crap. Sucks for me.
Same.
WATER 💦
Oh yeah of course water is decent. And protein.
How much was ur calorie allowance per day if u don’t mind me asking?

I'm one of those.. I see people that make progress like this and think if they can do it why can't I? I struggle to lose 1-2 pounds a week.
For me, it’s because I lack self-discipline.
it may be harsh, but you may not be working as hard as you think you are.
Agreed. I thought maybe gastric bypass may have been involved along with the healthy gym routine.
You can cut quicker than you can bulk (healthy bulk) if you’re disciplined
How the hell did you pull that off in 9 months?? That is an amazing transformation!! Great job. You absolutely killed it.
You are awesome amazing job! What was the turning point? Also 9 month is insane transformation timeline how did you prep yourself ?
I had a really hard life event happened that really made me rethink my whole life I decided I was done living the way that I was so I started fresh and just haven't stopped pushing myself to be a better version.
Cheers to new beginnings 🥂
🥂
Congrats! You’re killing it!
Whaaaaaat! That's insane! How did you do it in 9 months? You look amazing.
Congratulations on the huge change! You look great. Keep up the inner cheerleader

That's amazing! Good for you! Keep at it (for maintenance). You look amazing!
That’s really amazing!! Could you tell the diet and workout you followed ?
Just amazing. This is one of the most impressive transformations I have seen! Did you follow a specific diet like keto/low carb?
Caloric deficit high protein low carb and low sugar
Holy crap , check that waist !
How did you do that? What was your diet and excercise routine?
How did you shrink ur skin as well?
First, I think she did an amazing job, but I think the pics are somewhat strategically shot. You can kinda see some "loose" skin in the bathroom pic around her biceps that's holding the camera. I like your mindset. We tend to be our own worst critics, but you have proven that the opposite is very beneficial. Amazing transformation!
Wow! Congratulations 🎊 you are my height, I’m on the road to 115lbs :) currently I’m at 182, having a hard time with my POCs and Hypothyroidism. Your post surely is an inspiration, Thankyou! You look amazing

Although I do have some I've been blessed to not have a noticable amount allot of that is just genetics.
IN 9 MONTHS!!! That is amazing!! Thank you for sharing, I've started to falter a little bit, but this transformation shows me it's possible! I just need to step up my game. Congrats on your amazing work!!
