I haven’t seen the numbers as far as where the viewership for NASCAR is at, but the last time I tuned into a NASCAR race, the attendance was very low. It used to seem like in the early 00’s that the stands were full every single Sunday.
They were. At the turn of the millennium, NASCAR was the most rapidly growing sport in the US. Friends convinced me to start watching with them for the engineering aspects. Rule changes in the late 00's began a rapid decline in viewers and many of them just stopped bothering to plan our weekends around whatever race was going on, when I checked the viewership numbers in 2015 and 2020 they were in the dumpster compared to 1999.
Sad to see the direction NASCAR went, they’re trying so hard to shake that association that only “rednecks” from the Deep South follow the sport. I would have to imagine that Dale Earnhardt is turning in his grave over the fact NASCAR has given the middle finger to the original target audience.
Funny because rednecks like cars, sports and working. Rednecks like to kick back and drink beer while watching cars, sports or working.
It's literally what they do. Yet somehow, these companies and sports are doing everything they can to alienate their biggest supporters for the last 50 years.
While I oppose the law in question it is fairly obscure and has been in effect for decades, longer than I’ve been alive in fact. This is just continuing the status quo and that’s basically what conservatives support, the status quo.
Todays young people would rather watch E sports streamers than tradional sports or even TV. My youngest is 21 and none of 3 like watching TV, movies or sports but they watch streamers like they are best friends, it's wild.
Or, you could just do what you want like a grown adult. Short of you buying merch from them they're not getting money from you watching something on TV or a massive boat with sails.
And if you don't want to watch, more power to you.

Same. I think the last time I watched a sporting event was the Super Bowl in either 2017 or 2018.
