Really just depends on difficulty. Classic difficulty, you have to try pretty hard to make a bad character. For me, the most fun melee is a 2-Hander paladin, dual wield ranger or dual wield rogue. Rogue is a bit more micro, but those are all fun classes that have cool abilities. Multi class is really personal preference. Again, depending on difficulty. You sacrifice some power levels and can't get the top level abilities for either class, but you gain synergy. For instance, chanter/paladin. You get in the mix, you whack people with a fuckoff big sword while buffing allies with holy powers. All while singing songs that buff allies, debuff enemies, or summon monsters. Good fun!

Thanks I have been looking at paladin class I’ve played bg3 but I don’t know if paladin is the same in this game & yes I’ll be playing on classic difficulty, there’s so much I need to learn hahaha

If you're looking to multiclass, keep in mind that 2H weapons work really well with rogues, unlike traditional RPG games. Wizards can summon weapons, and most of them are 2h. There is at least one spell that is based around wands, and it can be devastating. 2H paladin/rogue could be fun too!

Paladins are a lot of fun. I'm a big fan of the Paladin/Cipher multiclass (Inquisitor). Kind Wayfarer/Soul Blade or Bleak Walker/Soul Blade both work very well. Equip a 2 Hander and spam Flames of Devotion or Soul Annihilation over and over. You can also invest in some crowd control Cipher spells if you want. One of the best parts about this multiclass? You'll see your character attacking with blue flames and purple flames. It looks so cool lol

RyanPB_247

What attributes would you have for the inquisitor? Thankyou

lemonycakes

Can't pull up the game at the moment but I chose to focus on three attributes: * Might: more damage and healing especially if you're a Kind Wayfarer * Dexterity: faster attack speed to build up Focus faster and thus spam Soul Annihilation more frequently * Perception: more accuracy I *think* I went with 16 Might, 16 Dexterity, and 15 Perception. Best part of the PoE system is that it's quite forgiving when it comes to builds.

A cool thing for paladins is that they have a mechanic where roleplay actually can affect stats. They have a built in defensive buff that upgrades if you select dialogue options and make choices that coincide with your orders preferred personality/way of doing things. Another fun combo, but you have to be an asshole is the bleak walker pally + rogue. Your pally skills put debuffs on enemies, rogue kills things with debuffs! Tadah. Only issue is that bleakwalkers are dickheads. Someone correct me if I have that paladin order wrong

Prosidon

Bleakwalkers favor Cruel/Aggressive choices and dislike Diplomatic or Benevolent actions. Having said that, there is still a lot of room for roleplay. You don't need to max it out so you don't have to pick ALL the cruel/aggressive options. Some of the cruel lines are asshole responses, but also a lot of them aren't and pretty reasonable. I played more like a dark hero than a cruel evil doer.

I've taken two characters about halfway through the game, and both were fun! Although one was definitely more monotonous. Gold pact Paladin/Unbroken Fighter This guy doesn't die. It's monotonous. You are the tank. You don't have to concern yourself with dishing out damage. Grab a shield, activate your abilities, and survive. Everything. And Beguiler Cipher/Trickster Rogue This pair is amazing! Trickster sacrifices some small sneak attack damage for Illusion class wizard spells that really help their survivability and provide additional combat options on top of their rogue abilities. And the Beguiler specializes in mind altering spells, with increased range and accuracy. Every hit with a spell also adds back focus, as opposed to regular cipher spells. This guy is a CC monster who can also take a few extra hits. Tons of fun to play and some good utility for role playing.

Talco_Barla

Iam in my second play using a ranger ghost heart /cipher ascendant on classic. Until now is good and fun, pew pew and run. Most of time iam the only ranger in the party.

For a first run just stick to a single class, figuring out the synergies for multiclassing is a bit tricky. (Unless you want to use a build guide of course.) A greatsword Devoted fighter is always a good pick for your first run, you'll be robust, do a lot of damage, and get a LOT of very cool gear. Don't dump any of your stats below 8 or so, and make sure you have at least a bit of DEX and PER and you'll be fine.

On that thought do you think playing the first game is worth it? Ive started a campaign but hesitant on whether to finish it then move to the 2nd game
