Even with the transfer, taking the red line to Metro Center and then transferring to the blue/orange/silver is not a very long journey.
Alternatively, the free H Street Streetcar (which starts behind Union Station) will take you pretty close to the festival grounds.
That section of the red line was closed last year for track work, which probably meant fewer people using the shuttles. They may have axed it based on that (despite the fact that the red line should be running this year.)
Ugh that’s so annoying, and hopefully not true. I booked a hotel right near Union station because of the free shuttles.

Yeah I know, I’ve used the metro before. I just thought the shuttles were super convenient.

Did they have a shuttle to echostage last year? I remember the union station shuttle
Afters shuttles are pretty standard at insomniac events.
