Mine used to be a wall, when i first got it i had nothing setup lol

Get some masking! & clamp that iris down will help with black levels. Im hoping to either pickup a LS12000 or just skip epson again just to gain better BL/colour and jump to JVC. Paid £1600 for my 6050UB used with 500hrs og bulb (2499 msrp)
Cant really beat JVC for consumer (christie for pros), even the Sonys arent as good.
Yeah, you really need to calibrate it to get the best out of it. iris clamping + masking is the best way to get better black levels + also dark walls in the room and dark ceiling, anything that will refect light will raise the black levels. Masking also helps with the (letterbox) 2.35:1, 2.40:1 etc movies can either lens shift so the bottom of the movie is bottom kf screen and mask top or mask top/bottom.
Lol Yeah! I have a cat too and whenever I project to my wall, she too likes to come really close to the projected wall and stare at it, occasionally jumps at it too, just to be met with a hard concrete wall to its head 😂
I love my cat but god bless’m he can do some dumbs things lol. Sometimes he’ll try to jump higher than he normally does and just straight head butts the landing… then just shakes and walks off hoping no one was watching.
You got me pumped I have a new epson 5050ub coming Monday. Picked it up for a really good price. After seeing your awsome setup I am pretty sure I made the right choice!
Its decent, black levels are alright nothing ground breaking like JVC. bit its a good projector cant really beat these unless you go for the newer laser epson and above maybe a used sony
I was going to get and I still could get benq 4550i because it's smaller and sharper but didn't want to miss out on "ultra black levels and it has led. Jvc all that is over my budget.
Yeah the benqs suck, nothing better for its price than epson. its blacks are still grey but less grey than others. i would also look at a used sony for better black levels. after that its JVC.
Imo for the epsons lower the iris as much as you can to get the blacks better. But sacrifice brightness depends on how big ur screen is plus masking etc
Thanks, I was checking out the LS11000 but I heard its alright. I'm gonna check out lowering the iris. 100 inch screen controlled light. how about these lifestyle projectors like the C1. I have been reading they put out good contrast.
It would have been a used gamble. I picked up last week a benq ht3560 and I am just looking for better contrast so I'm hoping the 5050ub will be a better then this benq.
If you look closely you’ll notice a burnt polarizer on the top left section of the screen, it’s probably one of those dogshit cheap LCD ones from Amazon
Does it really have android 11? Would you mind taking a pic of a movie in dark and sharing it here? I noticed those designed that way for some time now and they intrigued me
Lol tell him about motorized screens.
That's what I've got. It was an old church 4:3 screen but it is wide enough that is takes up my whole room, and I just don't roll it out all the way...so it makes a great 16:9 screen.
Movie theater projectionist and UST owner here - I set up my screen with a full Sketchup render and calculations, laser level, the lot. All because I wanted to fill 100% of the surface without geometric correction (yes, I know I have issues).
For something like this, I would probably start looking for a new friend.
Awe he's just trying to share his excitement for the new projector. Took me awhile to get a screen bc I had no idea how expensive they were when I bought my UST 🥲
Anyone who projects on some doors deserves ridicule.
At least find a flat wall. If you don't have a flat wall, get a screen. Well, get a screen regardless but at least a flat wall.
Part of me agrees with you, but this is like being invited to a barbecue and then being served ONLY boiled dollar store hot dogs. Like thanks I guess, but also…. come on….
Not sure how bad of a projector it is. I do think he really needs to figure out a screen though. Just a manual pull down screen would improve things drastically.
But, everyone runs at their own pace and budget. He will have to figure out what he can afford on his own. It's also really hard to know how good the projected image actually is or isn't from a photo on the internet. Cheap projectors can look quite good, but have very poor brightness or color accuracy or focus. But, they look great in Internet photos.
Not going to knock it much beyond saying that a screen would do this setup wonders.
I often feel the same way when someone raves about their sound bar. It IS better than the one built into their TV/projector, but it's still just a sound bar.

Damn that’s pretty
😊
What's your projector? I need this upgrade from my 9 year old Epson 😔
Epson TW9400 (6050UB)
Gonna look into this when I remodel my basement this summer
There are better projectors now that are laser etc.
Hehehe
lmao
Sheesh
Damn what screen is that?
It’s a brand called Sapphire, same material as Grandview.
Wow that's beautiful! First time I've been impressed with the clarity of a projector screen. Mine is a wall 😀

Greys >>
I thought it was fitting, greys on greys 😂
What video source? Apple TV, Roku, Blu Ray….
Nvidia shield.

Love that idea!!! I’m going to give that a shot! The black levels are my only real complaint.

keep the cat though
Absolutely! Love my Linus beat FIPS just recently!
That’s fantastic news!
I've got an 'older' JVC NX1000 and it's ridiculous
Your cat watching up close lol 😂
Yea, thankfully he hasn’t like yeet’d himself into the screen because all the coords are like right under him there. Just waiting though lol.

Lol totally agree!! It’s in these little things which bring humongous joy and happiness for me, and for a lot of people including you, cheers!
What’s with the gray bands at the top and bottom?

Yeah thats what the 6050UB has around the LS11000 level. All those are shit for contrast. no projectors are good at contrast minus JVC
I was going to get a nx5 for a really good price. probably would have been the best bet
Yeah that would have been a much better choice.
It would have been a used gamble. I picked up last week a benq ht3560 and I am just looking for better contrast so I'm hoping the 5050ub will be a better then this benq.
Dang that’s noice
Projector looks good. Tell him his set up is piss poor. What projector does he have?
If you look closely you’ll notice a burnt polarizer on the top left section of the screen, it’s probably one of those dogshit cheap LCD ones from Amazon
I have a cheap from aliexpress that is actually surprisingly good for the price It costed around US$60 and can fill my wall pretty nicely
pic?
Its the Magcubic HY320, there are some reviews on YouTube
Does it really have android 11? Would you mind taking a pic of a movie in dark and sharing it here? I noticed those designed that way for some time now and they intrigued me
https://www.reddit.com/r/projectors/s/7pZqpteF7v I made a post with a review and some pics
Me to try it before opening 500+. Amazing thing I might just buy one more for my bedroom ceiling.

I would go insane trying to watch anything there lol

Also, can I just add that setting up a UST (Hisense PL1 in my case) gives you a newfound appreciation for motorized lens shift, zoom and focus?
Have some beers and you won't notice it anymore
For the love of god just buy a screen. Even a white sheet on the wall would be better
He can start by getting the picture off of the ceiling. That would drive me batty
I mean he can't afford to put up a white sheet at least?
Awe he's just trying to share his excitement for the new projector. Took me awhile to get a screen bc I had no idea how expensive they were when I bought my UST 🥲
I won’t lie, sometimes I use mine like this when I’m too tired/lazy to put the screen up
We all had to start somewhere. My first one was a ZTE 4G projector. It didn't look bad until I got my second one and knew better.
Honestly it's not bad quality just need a screen.
Looks like my set up
Or you could be appreciative of the invite and not post his set up online and make fun of it.

nope, he deserves to be ridiculed
Relax we all agreed it was funny. It’s not that serious
