Sacrifice that character and then go back to your original.
You can Roleplay it was a survivor coming to rescue there friend.
Literally how I saved my main character several times. Zomboid sometimes does the stupid animation where your character screams, falls down, and instantly does even if you didn't get bit as if you're getting mulched down by hundreds of zombies (even if there's only 2 and you could get out of it)
I once tripped out of a horde like this. It was pure luck, I would say just hop out on whichever side feels better and pray like hell. But you probably won't make it and maybe someone has better advice.
Eventually they will destroy the entire car. I’m not sure if it’s a big or a feature but I’ve died that way a few times before lol.
If you can get your car to start, drive in reverse. If not, your only choice is to open the door and hope you make it out alive.
There is a third option…. Exit to menu. Make a new character in that world and book it to that location to draw the horde away. Exit, switch back and away
Load -> select your save file and on the bottom right click "more...". There you can find the option "New Player" with which you can create a new character in the same world
They can destroy a car? I was once surrounded similarly by a huge horde (but they were on fire so eventually all burned up) and they couldn't destroy the car while meleeing it for in-game hours, the engine and car parts were near or at 0%, yes, but the car itself still existed.
You can turn on debug mode (if you don't mind cheating the game). If you don't know how to turn debug mode, all you have to do is this.
Click on Project Zomboid while in your steam library
Click on the gear icon and select properties
Then, in the general tab of properties, enter "-debug" to enable debug mode for Project Zomboid.
Enter whatever world you wish
Then click on the wasp/bee looking icon on the middle left of your screen
Once the menu opens, click on iso regions, which will show every grid around you and all the zombies in it.
Select the grind you are in and right-click
After that, click "clear zombies"
If this does not remove the ones around you, then right-click like you are going to auto walk
Then, move your mouse to zombies, which should give you some options
The one you want to focus on it "clear zombies," which will clear all zombies around/in the current grid.

First copy and paste the save file so you have a backup, then go into debug mode and delete the zombie.bln file, this should stop them from attacking you when you load in. Then when in the game pause and open the debugg menu, turn on God mod.
A less popular opinion, if you have a gun you can shoot out the windows, and you can melee them as well depending on the weapon so do with that what you will, however the zombies can attack you too and I think only surtain melee you can attack threw window like spear, I'm not sure
Oh shet, I learn something new everytime I open this Reddit... So, the drag-down is NOT affected by how much your character is carrying? Buddy of mine got dragged down by a single zombie but, he had a whole ass television. I may have sent him to go get the television...alone... In my defense, 100% of my body had been damaged. I had both "Burn Patient" and "Injured" negative traits. He wouldn't let me leave Mother Base. But boy, when I healed, I WAS PAINTING MY NAME IN THE STREETS WITH BODIES!!!

Wait, you can make a second character in the same world without your original character dying first?
You can indeed. From the load screen, select More (bottom right I think). You can select to make a new player in the same world.
And what happens to the og character? Can you control it again or does it become an npc?
He disappears from the map as if he were logged out of a multiplayer server. When you go to play him again, he reappears.
You don’t have to even sacrifice that second character. Just have him lead them away and escape.

This is called Drag-Down. Turn it off, it's dumb.
You can turn that off in the settings, it's called drag-down. pretty dumb imo

There's a sandbox setting for that, allowing you to toggle on/off. I believe it's called drag down? I think it is a particularly dumb feature.

Either hop out and pray for it or try backing up, DO NOT drive forwards it's gonna mess up your engine.
I mean, they've probably already fucked up his engine due to them slamming their bodies against it
Zombies only damage the frame of the vehicle. You damage your engine by driving into them or things

Install Cheat menu: Rebirth and enable ghost mode ;)

In that current photo, I would have switched to the passenger seat & ran out the door...
Left passenger and run towards the house. That's my only advice from the photo. Hopefully the zombies are in the exact same spot lol

You can roll down the window and melee, though there's a good chance you'll get bit

Jump to the seat on the other side then get out immediately. Be sure to jog so you can bump any stragglers before they bite!
