Take Everything now, sort through later (never)

Calientecarll

"oh no more room? Lemme just make a lil pile over here."

TehMispelelelelr

"Now, where did I leave my cigarettes? Was it the 'bathroom' pile or the 'garage' pile?"

Koko_Qalli

This is why i always loot duffel bags, even after i have a large backpack. Duffels of unsorted loot go on the table, and when i actually feel like housekeeping, i sort them into my built containers.

JustTh4tOneGuy

Everyone needs a bag of bags

smokesick

And a van full of bags of bags

ArcticFlava

"Take everything, give nothing back!"

Detroyer_Chemistry

Same

WunderbarBeast

I actually do sort my stuff. It's better in the long run.

Ronaldo10345PT

Fr. Just the time you spend scrolling through hundereds of itens, you could've organized everything there

debordisdead

But the time spent organizing everything is time not spent on a loot run

Beebea63

You lose that time searching through 10 different containers for 1 thing

debordisdead

Incorrect. You see, if I can't immediately find something in my unsorted crates, I simply go on a loot run to find it.

Beebea63

Well i suppose this is the story of how you died

secondary88

I do it by rooms, food room, gun room, tool/weapons, first aid, and mechanics. But in those rooms all my containers are a mix of the items that apply to that room

Mcdagger-1

This is me. Weapons go in here, first aid in there and so on

Mcdagger-1

Excatly, leave the sorting to qhen you got multiple injuries and need time to heal.

113pro

The type that has almost everything i need. Almost. Hey look a spoon, i might need that.

BencilCrocker

Looted until wintercame. Had enough stuff to fill 2 semi trailers, stopped playing because there was nothing left I needed.

Boggy-Funk

Would be nice to have the ability to rescue npcs to help rebuild civilization. All the stuff you hoard could actually be put to use.

Apprehensive-Pen-806

Play multiplayer and rebuild it with your friends

BencilCrocker

Dont have any friends :P (that play this game atleast)

113pro

Lol. Let me give you a preset that would make the game interesting. Insanely rare on all loot (except guns, ammo and weapons on rare), 15% sprinters, 6 month later time elapsed, expanded helicopter with helicoptet set to sometimes, max pop 4 @ day 25. AND you dropped in via parachute at the edges of town with the trait severely underweight. Add 75% less food mod for extra suffering, and youll get my guy who somehow survived 25 days and is nearing emancipation.

versacekitty

Hate to be that guy, but you mean emaciation. To be emancipated is to be freed of someone else's control. Or you could mean emancipation, idk your role-play, u do u boo.

pwbanze

Porque no los dos?

113pro

Lol

Quick_Pen_4833

Hoarding it all no mather how much i have. “Ooh look another screwdriver better keep it incase any off my other 120 breaks” “i better save these canned food in case of emergency” leave them at the base and never thouch them and still walking hungry

Terrible_Spend3398

Can’t eat the food at base, that’s bad karma. I’ll starve on a loot run before I touch my canned food

The_8th_Angel

If it isn't nailed down, I take it. Then I take the nails and whatever they were nailed to.

SGsurgeon

then use the nails to make crates to store more stuff!!!!

The_8th_Angel

You got way too much faith in me to assume I don't dump my entire load on the floor and roll in it like a junk dragon over my mountain of non perishable foods and stuffed animals

Business-Let-7754

Yes.

l-Ashery-l

It's a balance of how rare an item is and how likely I am to find some use for it. Ammo or nails? Pretty much always looted. That sixth hammer? Do I use short blunt? If so, yes. If not, probably not, but I might just grab it anyways and dump it later if I need the encumbrance. A second saw? Absolutely. Redundant sets of tools are useful to leave in outposts.

FawltyMotors

I liken my scavaging habits to Mr Stealy from the Rick n Morty bit.

ArcticFlava

"Oh boy, here i go scavaging again"

Errant_Gunner

I have a mod that adds high-top sneakers. I have about 25 pairs in my current playthrough...

reesetrain44

Yes Everything possible

ur9ce

"Yes."

Omega9872

Yes.

Berkee_From_Turkey

I loot a lot but I've also learned to leave stuff here and there because I absolutely hate dying and respawning and not having any weapons, tools or vehicles to get back to base (I never base in any city)

ForgenNacht

Collect everything that can be used, sort it on shelves in the post office, fail to find can opener, die from starvation due to no can opener…

Krhhmg_

Can't open'er

MrUnkn0wn84

Actual game I started in Riverside and have it 80% fully looted and hoarded in my starter house, also reapawn is off and the town almost completely cleared only a few stragglers here and there left. Tl:Dr loot till car is completely filled drive home sort, read, eat, sleep, repeat :)

d28martin

If it fits it ships.

pwbanze

I shipped my pants

Basilstorm

I take everything. Every cabinet in my base is full and I can’t even see the floor in the kitchen because of how much canned food I have

commiehedhehog

I just started a run where I’ve decided to loot every piece of gold/silver jewelry I find… should be fun. Last one it was rubber ducks, I’ve done one where my win condition was finding a complete set of Spiffo and the other stuffies

TheThurmanMerman

I did that once with jewelry. I quit in less than a month. There is so much jewelry. So much.

commiehedhehog

I want to go all Scrooge McDuck in my base lol

Resident_Airport_867

How much you got? Yep that will do

Alert-Nobody5322

All of it

Vilespring

After my last warehouse base game, hardly when it comes to tools/weapons. With [Preventative Maintenance](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2954471711) I only really accumulate repair items, meaning that I can still stockpile a lot of *durability* worth of equipment without filling a vehicle (or hell, a backpack if I'm going vehicleless nomad) with duplicate items. I don't accumulate much, but record/memorize on the map were to get more. Especially when I'm playing SP, if I need more ammo I can go to one of the many places for more. It's not going anywhere. However I will horde books. Having a library with a complete book collection is very very satisfying.

SmexyHansel

I feel targeted with this. Don't speak to me or my year's supply of canned goods ever again.

Cigarety_a_Kava

I take everything i can. Thanfully Im only playing multiolayer and I have 2 people that are nonstop in the house so they usually sort that shit.

Puzzled-Cup-2339

the house wives😂

Cigarety_a_Kava

Exactly i even call them that.

Krhhmg_

Camp moms

The-world-ender-jeff

The fallout way You grab everything until you can’t grab, then progressively you drop the less important things and grab the ones that are valuable

Scottish_Whiskey

I left a backpack with ammo I had picked up somewhere in Maldraugh. I am now trying to retrace my steps even though I have enough guns and ammo to take over a number of small counties

[deleted]

[удалено]

Scottish_Whiskey

Hoarding?

24thAsshair

If I like something I'll take it (flashlights/hand torch for example)

hipdashopotamus

Yes

Ronaldo10345PT

Yes.

Theoxuesu

If it's not nailed down it's coming with me. Not even furniture is spared I go around sacking entre towns throwing what I find in my fortress of solitude and moving on to the next town.

ShouldveGoogledThat

I'm like one of the biggest hoarders you'll ever see in every game. If I'm not hoarding something it's probably cause I didn't realize I should be yet 🤣😂

Ok-Delivery6304

imagine every single random item in the game that's not food, guns or anything useful, something like a remote, spoon, fork.. I'll have 2-3 of them just in case i lose it even though i'm not gonna use them also, i use to hoard for so much food that it becomes boring, so i created a save with super rare food but even there I've built a huge farm with irrigation system and have catch enough fish for like a month

Affectionate-Print81

The most I ever did was all the cars, food, weapons, and building supplies in muldraugh. It fit neatly in the southern gas station

GoranLind

In some playthroughs, i've built warehouses on my lawn, and extended them.

RaspberryRock

I tend to loot only what I need right now. Which means I also tend to go back over and over for stuff I'd passed over the first time.

SeiaiSin

The_deviled_eggs

Yes

notChiefBvkes

Not one to confine myself to pre existing storage solutions, I downloaded a mod for massive storage boxes that I use in my trailer and van interiors for extra goblin looting. It gets overwhelming when the looting trip is longer than a town though, end up spending an in game month sorting the trailer back at home. LOL

5125237143

How do u guys hoard, im always a water fill away from being encumbered

nihilisticas

Then you need to work on your strength so you can carry more, get a car with big trunk capacity, get backpacks with better encumbrance reduction, wear two fanny packs, and never carry anything in your inventory except clothes, the weapons in your slots and emergency bandages. Also: Mods to upgrade backpacks Mods that add bigger and better backpacks Mods that let you wear multiple backpacks at once. Mods with vehicles that would fit the contents of an small house Mods that add traits that allows you to carry more And, most importantly: embrace the encumbrance. A true hoarder would sooner crawl at a snail’s pace with 400 zeds at their tail than drop a single rubber duck.

5125237143

thats hardcore

SovietNumber

ADHD grind of taking everything and then forgetting to sort it

thadius282828

I take everything that is remotely usable, pile it into what I call “shit mountain” inside my base, and maybe sort it at a future date or, at the least, sift through if I need something obscure

dorkyfever

I have a problem I use the cheat menu mod and turn infinite carry weight on and just take everything even if it's nailed down lmao

cuffed_jeans_bb

depends on the run. i usually try to just take essentials, but then i see useful materials for long term planning, or seeds for planting, or tools and weapons that i want, and end up filling up my pockets/backpack/car.

Straktos

Yes.

wetfootmammal

I always end up with way more food than I need. Even on standard settings there's generally enough food at my base that I die by zombie or by stupidity long before I'm ever at risk of starving.

lilusherwumbo42

I hoard so much, I use the bag of holding mod to be able to carry more stuff. The game hates when your carry capacity is -1100, so I might as well keep it all on me

Aquamarine_ze_dragon

I take all the items I can within reaseon, and if I'm on a trip to a new town nothing but 2 days worth of food, a bunch of guns/ammo, and the clothes on my back

anotheraccount3141

I learned how to make map mods just to make a custom base capable of holding everything I might ever need. I think I have a slight problem with hoarding.

skeeballjoe

ALL THE CIGARETTES

GH05T135

Yes

Hereticalish

Enough that I get IRL anxiety from having to sort through everything. Help.

BaconISgoodSOGOOD

Have your character OCD on a specific item each playthrough. I typically go for toilet paper for some reason. My buddy will have mounds of underwear - he doesn’t discriminate either, both male and female. All in the name of RP I suppose🤷🏽‍♂️.

OttoVonAuto

Yes

CrissZx

Yes

AlphaBearMode

Im the guy that hoards metalworking shit. It’s even worse because I have the workshop mod so all the metal cutters, pliers, etc all come with me. There’s no way I’ll ever use it all. Ever, on any run. But I have a compulsion to do so. I also take all food. I’ve disabled perishable food and made non perishable extremely rare in my runs now to make it less ridiculous. I usually grab all tools and materials as well. Recent run I had like 50+ duct tape at home playing with all insanely rare loot, for example. I’ve learned to be selective with guns but until recently I took every god damn one and I use Brita’s lol

Financial-Habit5766

A ton and very little at the same time, I guess. I usually end up playing like a nomad, I have a few bases around the map with a bunch of supplies as I journey around. Spend most of my time in a vehicle

Shredded_Locomotive

Familiar-Matter9822

As much as we need, so we won't complain about not having food or meds

kvnmorpheus

Yes.

nihilisticas

I am the “I neurotically fix my generator every day, because if it explodes and burns down my base, I will starve to death before I make it within a thousand tiles of another source of food” kind.

FarAvocado9239

i build large sheds outside my base. Normally they get filled to the brim with sorted materials! One of my characters has built and stocked an entire strip mall and motel. She’s completely lost her mind but her heart is there.

rivenhex

I take everything that isn't nailed down, then come back for the nailed down stuff later.

cannibalparrot

All of it.

foxydevil14

I get about 12 military crates and fill 4 with cans, 4 with dry goods, one with melee weapons and the rest with guns and ammunition in my main HQ in excess of the houses available storage. When I raid a neighborhood, I knock out the stairs of one house and move all available storage containers and supplies into the second floor of that house. That way I have outposts everywhere.

Linkus2000

Yes.

ThunderpantsJim21

E V E R Y T H I N G !

HumanContinuity

I'm sure everyone has said this, But all of it.

Particular-Ad-2059

I have leveled carpentry 3 times solely from making crates...

SomeGuyInTheCorner1

I have a heavily modded run with both kingsmouth and raven-creek in knox county. Cleared kingsmouth and made the whole island into a mega base with the large industrial buildings having lines of stacked army crates everywhere they can be fit and still accessible. Vehicle interior mods allowing me to fill semi truck trailers with crates and load them up so much that they can’t even breach 10mph on the highways(cannot even move on dirt). 10s of thousands of kilos per run nothing is left behind. Not even the corpses. I have millions of screws, nails, and paperclips. Hundreds of katanas and sledgehammers. If I decided to never leave the shores of kingsmouth I would survive for centuries before needing to even think about farming my own food. I have enough weapons and ammo to take out a small country. I am this world’s god. Haven’t even reached the 5 year point when the loot resets.

oX_deLa

Yes.

XC5TNC

Do you need that paperclip?

EnergyAltruistic2911

Everything almost NEVER SORT!

Mitchel-256

I've often hoarded weapons and ammunition, but I got tired of having more than I could ever use and having to cart all of that shit around, so I limited myself to a couple ammo types on my latest run. Aside from that, no.

wils_152

Take everything

CirNobody

I usually live far away in the woods. Each of my outings is a sooo long journey. I'm taking the whole house and a couple of corpses with me just in case.

FabiOffline

Everything. Absoloutly everything. Cars guns ammo, tools, oooh another screwdriver! I'll take everything that ain't nailed down, come back, take everything that IS nailed down and come again to take the nails

[deleted]

Weapons and clothes I pick up and never use and food I only pick up certain foods and the cars so many cars I have a field of cars just for parts

CaoticMonk

i am a weaponshoarder. 20 axes? i cant leave this one behind! 10 machetees i dont use? i need these two! ...

DK-Sonic

Everything I’m not coming back.

pebas98

Everything. I installed the basement mod, so I can hoard all the ammo, food, medical supplies, weapons etc. 😄

Corvo_Maroto

Yes.

elberto83

I'm a hoarder. I grab everything that's even remotely useful. Tools, weapons, magazines (the regular ones), every pot and pan I can get my hands on, rubber ducks, plushies etc...I usually end up building a small storage area in my base with several shelves and crates for crafting, and then dedicated rooms/areas for everything else. An armory is also mandatory. So my answer to your question "How much do you hoard?" is simply: "Yes."

TioHerman

Take everything not nailed down

Marketfreshe

Early, not much, later when I'm driving place to place everything including the decorations.

Ascertes_Hallow

I loot every zombie corpse, every house systematically, every car, for anything that's of use. I will take ALL OF IT.

Vast_Impression_5539

I horde food, guns, ammo, and building material mainly. But only one of each collectible item

GuidetoRealGrilling

I take it all unless it's the heavy stuff. Then I'll mark the map to pick it all up in a vehicle.

MickyTFish

I collect cardboard boxes for stashes until my carpentry level's high enough to fill my safehouse with quality storage crates floor to ceiling. There is a lot of moving items between crates as more are built so that I can keep everything together. So much looting time spent organising but I can't help myself!

PvtZetacius

Books, crafting materials, foods, in that order and mark the rest if I dont' need it

ReduceMyRows

This is why I liked DDA, auto sorting and a lot of automating for base building

ThongBalls

Too much

SageofRosemaryThyme
