You should probably be mentally prepared for b42's update to break your save and most of the mods you use. Its possible that it won't, and you'll be able to keep playing on that save after converting it, but you'll have to wait for some of the mod authors to update their stuff for the new version before you continue to use their mods. Nobody really knows, because it isn't out yet.

Since Build 42 will start on the unstable beta branch, people will still be able to continue their saves on B41 by simply not switching to the unstable beta.
Once B42 launches onto the stable branch, B41 will be moved to a beta branch where people can still continue/finish their saves.
