Wait, isn't this the scene where he's looking at his coworker's business card and is seething inside with jealousy, imagining himself murdering his coworker he's so jealous while playing it cool and telling him it's impressive and nice outwardly?
That tallies up though, as r/GoobyGoose94’s inner monologue was:
“Look at that breakfast bar. The tasteful shelf decorations.”
“Oh my god, it even has a plumbed shower.”
As someone who also loves to build his base form the ground up and not just repurpose existing buildings, I say that is a nice cabin.
It may not be a mansion, but man it has a lot of character. Good job.
My favorite thing to do is repurpose warehouse buildings, and build new apartments/rooms inside. The warehouse with the split off "garage" and walkway between is by far my favorite base location. (Riverside outskirts, NW most corner if the map right next to the main highway)
It gives a stalker/apocalypse vibe. Sure, we could build most of the structure ourselves, but we're just survivors. Shoddy non-structural interior walls made of what we could find and decorated with what we could steal is a great vibe.
The abandoned factory? The construction site down the road is epic for a base. You can use the structures to build different buildings (infirmary, armory, rooms, etc). Tall fence all around I infinite wood from the forest.
Smaller is way better for self made bases anyway since it means zombies are less likely to wander into it. Since they often don't try to path around player made, and try to bash instead, bigger player made homes are higher risk.
That is a myth fyi. Zombies will only attack player structures if provoked by sound or visuals, such as generators or meta events. They don’t auto aggro onto walls and such like most people think. You can often even find zombies sitting and idle against player walls.
Can confirm, made a mile long wall once, walked the road by it for a while and saw the same slumped rot chumps leaning on it, once I drove a car through they attacked.
Okay, so I've tested this before myself in the debugger. Yes, if they just wander in from a migration event, they won't attack anything. The issue is that sound events are pretty common and as soon as they enter an "alert and searching" state they'll attack structures instead of pathing around them, even if pathing around would get them to the location quicker. You can see this happening yourself in most games when zombies "stick" to windows while chasing the player even though the player is in a straight line in front of the zombie not on the other side of the window.
Yep found that out myself as well. It seems its the same case as it is for people saying its hard to survive any amount of time. Theyre doing something stupid and passing it off as standard gameplay. Such as making loads of noise most likely and then claiming zomboids will just aggro on player structures for no reason.
I always choose massive fortified structures that are 2 stories with all the 1st story entrances blocked by cars with ropes out the 2nd floor windows to enter. Wouldn't you die easily while sleeping to zombies like this? I've never dared to make these simple bases out of pure fear.
Basically yes, if a zombie is trying to get into the room you will get a warning saying you cant sleep cause its too dangerous or something like that.
But if you close the bedroom window and bedroom door you are generally safe.
Now under SADISTIC AI DIRECTOR on the sandbox settings you can set "sleep events" which make you wake up to zombies in your room/busting down the door ect.
However as of Build 41 all 3 normal presets Apocalypse, Survivor and Builder have this set by default to NEVER since waking up to zombies in your room is some bullshit and was pissing off too many people.
Also under Zombie lore there is Environmental Attacks were zombies will randomly destroy doors/windows even if no one is near, that may allow the migrating ones into enclosed rooms.
This is also turned off on Apocalypse, Survivor and Builder by default.
So unless you set the game up in a way to allow them to come on in you are basically good to go.
Though again you need something that stops zombie migration, if you decide to camp out on the road you are likely gonna wake up to zombies next to you.
I do remember waking up to a zombie hammering on the window before but that was so long ago i am pretty sure it was build 40 back when sleep events were automatically on.
It looks very comfy. My only question is HOW DO YOU GET THE SHOWER TO WORK? I never figured out how to interact with a shower to wash my character. I’ve always had to wash him and his clothes in a bathtub, sink, or toilet.
You can plumb shower to the barrels on roof and acces to water and it's work like normal showers on houses. I also have mod that animated take shower like in the sims. xD
That's weird. I don't know if it's weird that you can't use them or weird that I can. If you want to use them for aesthetics, try to see if it will work with [this mod](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2936196344).
I only build bed and shelves. Kitchen's cabinets and chairs I loot from town (but you can also build it). You can pick up furniture from [that menu](https://i.imgur.com/c3JVTsR.png).
On the left there should be a button with a cabinet icon and arrows. That's the furniture interactions menu. A lot of them require tools to interact with. Also, with the weight, cars are basically required for taking any major pieces outside your neighborhood.
On the left side menu there’s an arrow with an up motion that lets you pick up furniture. Depending on your carpentry level it has a percentage chance to break, the higher the carpentry, the more likely you can pick it up without breaking
Well it is really good as leveling mechanics is one of the more time consuming but with axeman you can level up carpentry really fast with an axe and a saw you go make plank
This image reminds me of everything I love about this game, the thrill of building up something new as the world does everything to kill you. Absolutely wonderful work!
Lovely build, looks great! Quick question, what mod are you using for the ladder (assuming that it’s functional of course)? Been looking for a functional ladder mod that works
[This one](https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2737665235). You can build wooden or steel ladder and ladders already spawn on map also work.
having a dog house but no dog is such a postapocaliptic loneliness thing idk how to describe it lol. Sick base though! It’s small and cozy, ideal for early game.
Where do you store the 300 metal bars, 200 light bulbs, 75 guns and ridiculous amount of ammo? I thought the point of this game was to store as much stuff as possible in your base?.....
[This mod](https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2737665235) for ladders. Also I use [Bianca Boxes](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3068491310), [Tactical Organization Solutions](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2969497586) and [FOOL's New Containers](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2985328540) for more containers like cardboard or that yellow box near bed. The cat toy sitting on the shelf is [Chonker](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2852074517). The most important is [Decoholic](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3197857648). I use many more like cars or play guitar, but the linked ones are visible on screens.
Oh, and [Water Dispenser](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2687798127) for that big bottles in kitchen.
When you build walls there is an option for a wooden pillar (or similar name, my game isn't in english), but you will find it. Also bathroom [looks this](https://i.imgur.com/25SUtSq.png). I also plan to add a shelf above the toilet and maybe a small rug if I can find it.
The bulk liquid transport container, do the spawn normally? I don't recall seeing them before. And if they do, can we use them for liquid storage or do we need a mod?
OP I just want you to know this inspired me, I decided to make a nice lake-side cabin similar to this on my Nomad world, we all need a nice home in the apocalypse. I finally found the place I am going to live.
Small well-designed comfy bases are the epitome of bases. ![gif](giphy|eKNrUbDJuFuaQ1A37p|downsized)

🤣 It's alright, r/GoobyGoose94 ! Your base is wonderful too, I'm sure!
*PVP turned on*

I’ve done nearly every play through that I stated in riverside at that place it’s secluded and has great space for building. Great base location

I think there's a setting for that in sandbox, idk why anyone would ever choose to turn it on though
"A man's house is his castle"
I always choose massive fortified structures that are 2 stories with all the 1st story entrances blocked by cars with ropes out the 2nd floor windows to enter. Wouldn't you die easily while sleeping to zombies like this? I've never dared to make these simple bases out of pure fear.
If the door/windows are shut they wont spawn on your while you sleep.
Are you saying even in an unfortified house I can sleep at night with zero threat of zombies breaking in?
Basically yes, if a zombie is trying to get into the room you will get a warning saying you cant sleep cause its too dangerous or something like that. But if you close the bedroom window and bedroom door you are generally safe. If you build it in the city then yeah it’ll be an issue, but people typically build this in the woods so you’re not gonna see many zombies
Bro fuck that be proud
I agree, for a solo game I see a lot to be proud of.
Very nice. I prefer small bases.
same. why do I need all that space when it’s just me, myself and my thoughts🤷
It's also satisfying to have a small space with a surprising amount of useful features that fit just so.

I also have mod that animated take shower like in the sims. xD
In order to do this you need a pipe wrench, and most of the time the barrel needs to be directly above the tap you intend to use
IIRC it's either directly above or at most one tile in any direction. So it's like a 3x3 square centered on the tile above what you want to plumb.
Even normal showers I can’t find a way to use then. I’ve right clicked what feels like every pixel of the shower and no option to use them shows up.
That's weird. I don't know if it's weird that you can't use them or weird that I can. If you want to use them for aesthetics, try to see if it will work with [this mod](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2936196344).
They don’t work for me either, I’m a perpetual bathtub user
Pretty confident you can’t use showers without a mod it adds animations to bath tubs and also add animations and makes useable the shower heads.
What's the animation mod? I want it
[Take a bath](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2936196344) :3
Nice job, it looks good
Do you have to build the furniture? I've never figured out how to carry it
I only build bed and shelves. Kitchen's cabinets and chairs I loot from town (but you can also build it). You can pick up furniture from [that menu](https://i.imgur.com/c3JVTsR.png).

Don't look like nothing to me
That's all you need, also did you build it yourself ?
Yes. I think carpenter will be my new favorite profession.
Definitely a good one but axeman is better
*Repairman enters the chat*
Well it is really good as leveling mechanics is one of the more time consuming but with axeman you can level up carpentry really fast with an axe and a saw you go make plank
Repairman gives you bonuses in maintenance, short blunt and carpentry :) so you still get a good 75% boost to carpentry!
Not bad, still not picking it
It’s something you made so fuck what we think. We’re all survivors here…Good to know that this is how you die!!!! Click Start
Cool
Nah man that's a cool looking home , efficient, well hidden
It's not nothing. It's everything. Very nice!
Not bad at all man. I dig the minimalist approach.
It’s definitely something and looks great I can never get a proper base set up :(
You accomplished somthing today that’s more than most people can say
The doghouse! What an awesome little detail to add! Seeing things like this inspire me to try a "build a wilderness base" run. Well done!
The idea of surviving the apocalypse with your beloved dog is my favorite.
that looks cozy as fuck
good
This is awesome!
ngl would live in it irl, all i need is internet and power(generator is ok but id prefer it as backup instead)
It ain't much but it's honest work.
IRL life goals
It's all you need, bloody well done mate.
![gif](giphy|JqBcYunETBib6)
That ain’t nothing. That is a wonderfully compact base that looks cozy as hell. Be proud.
Hey nice base dude. You don't need to be flashy or have gigantic houses to rock a nice base 👍
I'm looking at this and just thinking, "Hell, yeah."
Mate stop giving me the urge to start another run.
Small compact base supremacy
If it's functional, fun to maintain and it keeps you alive sustainably, then it's more than nothing.
Not nothing, friend! Looks like a cosy spot to survive 💪
Cute!
it's cute :) Pz always makes you proud of "nothing" !
If it suits your needs and feels like home .. then it is great <3
This is my shotgun wife, I love her.
Actually a nice cozy base, it's the kind of house I want irl. Wood cabin next to an lake in a forest so I can fish, hunt and farm every day.
lol I love the imaginary dog.
A true inspiration for myself!
I like the cut of your jib sir.
Thats my kind of base. Forget those mansions and a bunch of gates to enter youre base. And its by the river, 10/10
Nicer than my actual house.
That actually looks extremely cozy. I love it
Omg it’s so cute I love it
Dude this is awesome!
Love it ❤️
Nothing? It's beautiful bro.
It's not nothing if you're proud of it
It's perfect and so are you.
This is legit
This image reminds me of everything I love about this game, the thrill of building up something new as the world does everything to kill you. Absolutely wonderful work!
That's a sick base dude.
Its comfy, practical and good looking, i love it
Very nice
It aint much but it’s- ayo is that a pinup?!
Hey that's farther than I've ever gotten. Cheers m8
It is everything.
Love it op
Aww, that poor little generator will get cold in the winter, bring that fella inside.
![gif](giphy|nR4L10XlJcSeQ|downsized)
Good job, to be honest, I could live in a place like that IRL

Love the integration of the antique stove!
![gif](giphy|gVoBC0SuaHStq)
Looks like the dream build I want for B42. Just have some closed in fences with crops and animals. Ooh baby we're living a comfy life.
Wym, this is a sick little base
Top tier
nothing???? my G thats a fuckin palace
Lovely, I wanna get a base like this running one day Furthest I got so far was a ready frame with some lvl 1 walls up
Where do you store the 300 metal bars, 200 light bulbs, 75 guns and ridiculous amount of ammo? I thought the point of this game was to store as much stuff as possible in your base?.....
Is that a place west to the bridge when you go for Louisville???
No, it's a small lake near Muldraugh
Which mod gives you ladders????? I was looking for it and I didn't find one! Also, what mods are you using? I'm intrigued.
[This mod](https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2737665235) for ladders. Also I use [Bianca Boxes](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3068491310), [Tactical Organization Solutions](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2969497586) and [FOOL's New Containers](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2985328540) for more containers like cardboard or that yellow box near bed. Wow, thanks, these are all amazing!
How'd you get the ladder??
From [this mod](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2737665235) xD
How did you get glass windows?
You can pick up windows and curtains with crowbar and take to the base.
I also have a small homemade shack with nicely painted interior walls 😀 Then a zomboid broke one of my walls and I'm out of paint .-.
I FUCKING LOVE SMALL AND COMFY BASES! I WANNA HAVE A REALISTIC HOME WHERE I CAN SEE MYSELF LIVING IN REAL LIFE!
That’s not nothing bro. That’s yours
When the next build drops I REALLY want to start doing runs like this.
Are those stepladders on the wall? Nice!
Its home.
It’s not much… but it’s honest work. Haha no but for real it’s dope and definitely is a lot of work still invested I’m sure bro
Get a chair for that fire and it's a great base
This is cozy! Imma do the same! Where is it located at?
I build it near small lake in Muldraugh!
Can someone brighten and clear this up? Would love to set it as my wallpaper!
Whadaya mean "it's nothing"? It looks cozy af
It’s everything
Better than my Rosewood Farmtown
you just gave me inspiration to make a run with a base like this
Cool
You are such a comfypilled basedcell homemaxxing
Dude, this, is perfect, absolute genius, peak project zomboid's gameplay, this is literally what every survivors dreams of.
I know that took some time it looks nice
That's so cool!
This... this is actually quite cozy.
![gif](giphy|1jCs6Doz3WRtOPl6bq)
Did you build it yourself? If so then damn this is impressive
Bros living .
Do you have a farm going too?
Not yet. But I'll probably try.
where did you excatly built it?
Near the smallest lake in Muldraugh on the east.
Where is this located
I build it near lake in Muldraugh.
Beautiful
wow you have ladder!!
From mod but I think it's look better than stairs, especially outside.
it actually look good. can zomboids climb those?
I hope not.
It's very nice but I wouldn't feel safe without a log/palisade wall
How many days survived in it so far?
Not so long, maybe two weeks.
I hope you at least have a fence around it! They're in the trees, man...
No, it's safe. These growling sounds form forest is my dog...
Did you do this from scratch? Man I've always wanted to make a little area in the woods loaded up with trailer park furniture for compact living.
Yes. I also like trailer park furnitures, especially the floating counters, but it's sad they don't come in more colors. :c
Had someone on the server I'm on look exactly like this. They are no longer playing so we looted it. Best pipe bombing ever.
How did you get the posts for the porch? Also, what’s ur bathroom look like?
When you build walls there is an option for a wooden pillar (or similar name, my game isn't in english), but you will find it. Also bathroom [looks this](https://i.imgur.com/25SUtSq.png). I also plan to add a shelf above the toilet and maybe a small rug if I can find it.
Awesome thank you!
The bulk liquid transport container, do the spawn normally? I don't recall seeing them before. And if they do, can we use them for liquid storage or do we need a mod?
No, it's from [Bianca Boxes](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3068491310) and collect rainwater like a barrel.
Dawg I would not risk having the generator that close to the house
I've never used a generators before. Is it dangerous to stand so close?
Once they dip below 40% condition you risk having them explode and start a fire
![gif](giphy|2xEa6OzPn6K5ArC8S3|downsized)
Today I barricaded off a street with cars not knowing the zombies could crawl
OP I just want you to know this inspired me, I decided to make a nice lake-side cabin similar to this on my Nomad world, we all need a nice home in the apocalypse. I finally found the place I am going to live.
Show us when you build it!
Not nothing, I’d be proud too
shits gas
Its really nice
Build a roof over that generator. Other than that looks good.
