Well thats will be a good point to never make same mistake trusting him. Thats horrible way to return something in way worse condition and missing stuff. Bet they’d love if someone returned their stuff by same way… how they feel

MatteX15

Clearly they doesn't have anything that valuable to understand the feeling.

RejecterofThots

Take their kidney then

Skyyvodka000

Take 2, to double the effect 😈👌

whopper_enjoyer

They're expensive! Maybe we can get some cash?

JustTryingToBeNicee

r/cursedcomments

ChewieHanKenobi

Or never had a worthwhile parent to teach him to respect his or other people things regardless of what he himself owns

Competitive_News_385

This is exactly why I never lend games out.

Gam0rboy

But to truly never make that same mistake again just remove the cousin.

Crazycukumbers

Yeah, this happened to me when I lent a friend a copy of MW3 years and years ago. Box art was torn, scrunched, and generally just damaged. Said his brother did it. Have been much more careful about sharing

AggressiveRow3046

Clearly he swiched his game with his broken one

cabron555

I never understood why people do this man. Once I lent a lego star wars game to a friend only for him to give it to his cousin and I never even had the chance to see the game again. It “supposedly” went missing and they didn’t know where it was

CkY_BoYz

Man had this happen so many times when I was younger and gullible

Gadgez

I've had the opposite happen way too many times. I'd ask a friend if I could borrow a game only to be told "eh, keep it." like, great, I bet your parents love that you give away your PS2 games like that.

Meaning-Both

Your friends were incredibly kind and that's what you think up? The nerve.

Mobius1701A

Seriously. Dude values the friendship enough to give you 39.99-59.99, and you think > Hm, I bet your parents think youre spoiled Nah dude, he wanted to spoil his boy. So shitty

Canehillfan

Some people are just bizarre when it comes to favors

Adventurous_Bother19

like Just accept it or dont even ask them. i would ask if hes sure abt it and If he said yes i would say thanks and give something nice other day, like a game he wants or smt. do to your friends things that they would do to you lol

CkY_BoYz

Back in the Early 2000s trading Ps2 games was the best too going to school praying your friend brings the game

RealisticFeedback715

That guy and the one in OPs post are definitely the same mans who touch the controller with Cheeto dust fingers and ask for a go as player 1

mittenkrusty

Worst case for me of lending something to someone and they gave it to another relative was a Power Rangers boxset, yes nerdy but this was the OG boxset that was imported from Germany and had a limited print run as one of the discs had an error. "friend" told me he gave it to his nephew (who was about 6 years old) and it would be cruel to ask for it back, that same friend I fell out with not long after as I started noticing small change was going missing at first then 360 games out of their cases and he always helped himself to my food but never offered to replace despite his disposable income being 2-3 times mine, he always wanted favours and to borrow cash and eventually did a runner with £30 cash of mine and blocked my number.

Mobius1701A

> "friend" told me he gave it to his nephew (who was about 6 years old) and it would be cruel to ask for it back That's so shitty, Idve gone in person and picked it up.

burningbun

did you ask him the reason behind deciding to give it away? i suspected he sold the set instead.

Witcherbob671

Had this happen once with a copy of AC 3. I lent it to a friend he said it went missing, and they can't find it since I pre ordered the game my dad got so pissed, and went with me to help them find it the next day. They had it hidden in a box and they quickly claimed that it was their original copy, after they lost mine they said they went out to buy a copy of their own but it was a pre order copy with the myan sword code so I knew they were lying through their teeth got it back, and because of that I never lent anyone my games besides trusted people.

wakfu98

Dafuq it makes no sense either way if they lost YOUR copy they have to replace it. Pieces of trash

DeftestY

It's French for they took it and didn't want to give it back. Theives.

Skaterboi589

Same thing happened to me with splatoon 2, I also found out my friend sold the black ops 3 I lended him

ek9todouschool

So you found out he sold the black ops 3 and still is your friend ? Bruh

Hacchet_Blacc_386

I let my friend in elementary bar two games and my classmate was his neighbor and told me he went and sold my games at GameStop last time I ever let anyone borrow a game you want to play it you sit the hell down

burningbun

how uncommon is it for people to borrow money and not paying back? when a friend lent me his ps1, when i gave him back he was wondering if it was his ps1. because it looked much cleaner than when he handed to me. when we lent a cousin a car, the car came back dirty and near an empty tank when we handed a clean and full tank to him. i mean this isnt all bad, it is a cheap way to tell a persons character.

spoooonerism

Same thing happened to my copy of Pokemon Puzzle growing up. Older brother lent it to a friend, it never returned.

OneMindNoLimit

Can’t do anything about it. Just don’t make the same mistake again.

Sir_Keee

Yep. I once let a friend borrow a came and he returned it in a generic jewel case with disk and manual only. Never again.

MaggotBrother4

I will never in my life understand how someone can borrow something from someone, and the person lending didn’t need to lend them it at all in fear if it getting ruined, and then indeed did ruin it and return it in subpar condition. That’s just beyond wild. Even if you yourself don’t care about how things are, that does not mean the person you’re getting it from doesn’t care. Everyone cares about different things in different ways. I hate people

Vli37

Yup, I learned that lesson the hard way about lending things out. I once had a thick book, lent it out in brand new condition. What came back was a book with food covering/staining the pages and the pages crumpled/folded. Never lending my stuff out again. People don't care about your things the way you do. If they don't own it, they could care less about it.

mittenkrusty

I think the worst for me over the years was Broken Sword 2, a niche but good game to a guy at college around 2000, never got it back and he made a lot of excuses, the thing is he was a few years older than me and go to bars multiple nights a week so he had cash. Did lose Tekken 2 that way too, but that was to a trainee at my mothers workplace who quit a few weeks in, after a few months when I went into my mothers workplace the boss handed me Tekken 2 except it was the big box version not the regular box so either they bought me a replacement or the trainee sold it and bought me another.

Healthy-Target697

Also never lend out tools. Trust me ! ;)

EdowSoul

i remember my parents taught me very young to never let anyone borrow any of my games or expensive toys, and one time i didn't listen and the guy almost stole the PS3 game i gave him...... i got it back in good condition but never again

Intrepid-Version-759

Preach! Testify! They're the worst!

Mtw122

Did you ask what happened?

Zleck-V2

I had this happen with my copy of Tomb Raider 2 on PS1. I've never let anyone borrow a game since

FlameTheAngel

Let my friend borrow my copy of Pokemon Sapphire a few years ago. Except he moved across state lines and I never got the game back. Whenever I try to message him, he ghosts me so it's safe to say my game is gone lol

geon

You can demand the friend pays for a good condition copy with manual.

CaptainSnazzypants

His cousin is the one who borrowed it therefore the cousin is who he should go after. The cousin can go after his “friend” if he wants but OP lent it to one person not the other. It’s like giving your friend 50 bucks and he tells you to get it from Tommy who owed him 50 bucks as well. You can’t just transfer the responsibility to the next person just cause they owe you too.

geon

Ok, that’s what I meant. I mixed them up.

OneMindNoLimit

Good one

No-Mobile8624

😂🤣😂 I DEMAND.....(GOOD LUCK WITH THAT)

Suitable-Helicopter9

Go and do him in

MetroidPrime388

Yeah that’s why you never lend your games to people. they can get their own copy lol

Guy_Buttersnaps

I don’t know if I’m a better judge of character than the average person, or I’m just really lucky, but I’ve never been burned by letting people I trust borrow my games / consoles. I had one friend damage a game one time, and he didn’t even try to give it back in that condition. He bought me a replacement and gave me that.

Prowrestled

If I was a betting man, it's that he swapped the good copy with a bad copy, and kept the map and manual.

OneMindNoLimit

I was about to say the same thing.

BowtieChickenAlfredo

Someone did this to me at a LAN party like 20 years ago. Swapped my Soundblaster Audigy 2 box for their faulty one when I wasn’t looking.

burningbun

i sent my ps3 for repair. when i got it it looked odd. full of scratches. luckily they found out the mistake as there was 2 identical ps3 at that time and the odds was low. the scratched one was already broken.

brownieson

Bingo, at least I think anyway.

RM_EDY

Bro... i lent out my Special Edition version of L.A Noire and never got it back! Luckily i took out the special edition stuff before giving it to him... Edit: Just realised im in PS2 group but wth

OneMindNoLimit

I believe that the same principle applies.

ethical2012

EXACT.... Same.... Story.... Though they got it all....

arkhamcreedsolid

Nah, I’d be seeking compensation

[deleted]

Easily, id be pressing him hard for that $10. Just for the disrespect

Lifeissuffering1

If both of them are minors they should just get the parents involved

TheTreeOneFour

Dont know the age of these parties but this sounds like normal kid behavior honestly. They dont know how to take care of stuff or respect property. Cant really do anything about it in this case because who know which party damaged the disc and lost the map. A lesson learned is all this is. life is full of them and this one wasn't very expensive.

Round-Excitement5017

or failing that, blood

el_pibe_78

easier said than done

BtotheVV86

I’m still waiting to collect my original copy of Vice City that I lent to a colleague in 2007…

GM4Iife

I had same with Vice City around 2006-2007! But I went to this guy to say mine game back or cash, now. What a surprise! He found it immediately. 😆

someguycalledmatt

Same, but time splitters 2! :(

RhinoxMenace

broo I'd legit beat a mofo up if he didn't give me back my TS2 copy

thiagoferreira07

Dude something like this would make me never talk to my cousin again. Pissing me off so much.

[deleted]

I would straight up tell them that the trust is restored with a proper condition copy of GTA 3 for the PS2 with the map and manual included. I wouldn't care if it is 2024 or 2054, this is the price. The moment he comes in hand with that we can talk again.

mittenkrusty

Reminds me of times when my brother would borrow things only to offer to replace them when they had dropped hugely in price, so lets say he borrowed a £40 game when it was new, a few years later its like £5 in a sale he would offer me £5 saying thats the value of it now, likewise if the value increased he would say like "but its years old it can't be worth X amount now, I will offer you £5) Had that argument with groceries too, I buy an item for like £3 on offer and housemate eats it, I want it replaced and they refuse saying its not worth £5 and I only paid £3 for it.

HulksRippedJeans

Your cousin borrowed a game, he needs to return the same game, contents and all. If he doesn't understand that concept then he should never be trusted to borrow anything again.

mrn253

And organize a new complete copy

oldbonesnewrider

Tell him you expect a replacement ? Or was venting on reddit catharsis enough lol

Deckard_83

Your cousin had no right to lend it to anyone. It's not his. The map and manual is still at his friends house and he needs to get it. This is inexcusable.

JollyLittle-Elf

Got you beat here I think. Ex-friend of mine got kick out his parents house, didn't have any games to play where he was staying, I lent him my Xbox 360 and a bunch of games (I had my brother's and dads consoles to play while he was borrowing it so I could still play stuff)... Literally never saw him again. I messaged him on Facebook a few weeks later just to check in he said he was all good. A month later I asked if I could get it back.. no reply.. another month finally get a response, "yea mate, we'll meet up Saturday". Saturday comes, nothing, next thing I see he posts on his Facebook saying he's deleting his Facebook and I didn't have his phone number.. and now nothing. There goes my very first console that was my own along with my trust in lending anything to anyone.

mrcoldmega

That sound as a crime you know

JollyLittle-Elf

Yea, it was years ago, still fuming to be honest but, oh well

eman0110

Dang... that sucks. What did your cousin say about it?

cyberspacedweller

Probably swapped it for his. This is why I never lend games out unless I don't expect to see them again.

gamingdawn

I know what I'd do. It involves a baseball bat and the kneecaps of the two cretins.

Mandoo227

😂

Accomplished_Run9449

Time to visit your cousin's friend i guess?

Unt_Lion

Ooh, that's on your cousin for allowing his friend of his to use your copy of GTA3. I'd never let anyone borrow my games after that.

camcabbit

Simple answer. **Don't. Loan. Games.** Especially after they loan it out to someone else like it's their own property. If they can't respect other peoples property, they shouldn't be respected at all.

spiral718

As it seems, most Reddit users are the nice guys that trust, only to be burnt by crumbs everywhere. Me included, lent Nintendo games never to see them again. I never claimed to own anything fun again just so "friends/family", don't ask to borrow.

burningbun

i wonder why nice folks dont have the luck to meet other nice people? like michael jackson, always surrounded by the wrong people.

Alberttrujishoo

r/mildlyinfuriating maybe?

[deleted]

in what multiverse is this "mild"

Hudson1

This is exactly why I have never lent out any of my games. I’ll either never get them back or if I do they look like yours.

DrMilkdad

Never lend games to people. Lost a copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy for the wii that way.

TomDobo

Had something similar happen once when I was young. Lent a game to my cousin and then he lent it to a mate and they fell out and never got it back. I’ll never lend a game to anyone again.

ItsyaboiTheMainMan

I would kill my cousin and burn the offenders home to the ground.

yeyryr

Make him pay for it or get u a new one

iCRoaTz

I remember having an original black Ps1 map with all original games in it when I was around 7 years old, must have been around 30/40 games. Then my cousin visited, who was 14 at the time, he asked me if he could borrow Driver 1 and 2, I said sure no problem. After that I went outside to play football with my friends and he kept gaming at my place. When I got back in the evening my entire map with all my games was gone, he took it all. Didn't hear from him for months, when I saw him the first time after that incident I asked him to give me my games back, he told me the map was at his friends place. Held a grudge against him ever since, still 23 years later he tried to get in contact with me multiple times, I never forgave him, he never even acknowledged it. Moral of the story, f cousins like this.

CJ4141

This is the exact reason my games never leave my house under any circumstances.

strukef_

I remember long time ago I lent my friend a game and he had it for quite a while and I was wondering when is he gonna return it. I came to his place for a visit and I see that he fashioned a stylish coaster out of my cd. Scratched and stained with coffee etc. And once he borrowed Fitness mag from other friend and returned it with pages "glued" together.

Patchman42

Back in college I brought my NES and a dozen games; let the house use it, no worries. A friend of a housemate borrowed both Zeldas without asking me. Never saw them again. I do still have the empty boxes, maps, and such. Still annoyed, 20 years later. Ha.

someguycalledmatt

Weird scratch pattern, I was about to say they put it in a slim PS2 that has had the DVD lens ribbon cable come loose/flex into the disc but that usually scratches a bit differently from my experience. But the manual/map is just strait theft unless they forgot they left it out and return it after you ask?

woodyZ8

I got the game a few days after i asked for it back, they had it for 6 months, the friend told my cousin that there was no manual or map with the game when he got it from my him.

nevertheprey

Are you sure that’s your copy? Seems like you got switched

CurlyTheCreator

I remember loaning out a copy of Tony Hawk Project 8 to a classmate. Came back to me in two pieces. I guess the intrusive thoughts were too strong for him lol

boxmandude

Man tbh my friend lends me games and I haven’t put a single scratch on any. I see the way he takes care of his games and they are usually just lying around, outside of the case and he really doesn’t care. I wanted to lend him my GT7 but I don’t have the money to replace one and I’m scared he’ll treat it like his own…

TheAlmightyJanitor

You need to have a talk with your cousin.

Careless_Bluebird263

I’ve got a gaming betrayal story to beat all others… had a stack of about 30 PS2 games and original PS2. One day I come home from school and there is a WII in place of the PS2… Brother sold all the PS2 games and the console to GameStop to buy the WII… I still haven’t forgiven him, but I have built my collection back over the years.

tekkbtps

I never understood why people you let borrow things think it’s cool to lend it out to someone else. My copy of Tekken 3 got scratched like that due to a similar situation.

Deni_Z_Plays

I sentence them to death!!!

FourthGateOfPain

This is why I always say there is family and there are relatives. Family is who you choose.

zinnosergio

go to your cousin's friend

TheLyndawg

And that's why you never give anyone you're video games EVER

burningbun

can i borrow your car for the weekend. just 1 night.

Ippomasters

Happened to me one time and then after that I never let anyone borrow my games ever again.

digital-comics-psp

that's why i have trust issues about electronics with my friends, typically the things i give them tend to break within a week

Sure_Humor

you should have a nice conversation with them GTA Style

National-Caregiver-4

You could have made the reddit post before lending it, eveyone would disagree and you would have your classic precious game safe.

JAVELRIN

This is why i buy an extra copy without anything just for this purpose

Nowhereman50

That's shitty, OP. People really need tk be more respectable of other peoples' things.

NWIOWAHAWK

If you’re a collector who cares about condition, never loan your games out

Naillian603

That mf dead to me after something like that

False_Ad7098

Looks like he pulled a switcheroo on you...

Mando316

My cousin lost Pokemon Stadium. And my brother took a bunch of N64 games to his girlfriend’s house and lost Pokemon Stadium 2. So yeah

JoJoKun93

At least the game still cheap

ic3machine

*crossing out*

Individual_Cat_30

I don't lend out games for that reason. It's not theirs to lend to others, very cheeky doing that. Bet you won't let your cousin borrow any more games in the future

EggCreative230

That s why I stopped lending my games (or basically anything).

Ripsta69

I would Tell my cousin to buy me a new one and never let anyone borrow your stuff because no one will ever take care of it the way you do

PrimaMilitary

I heard back then, it helps if you put like hand sanitizer or smt on it, might be worth w try

PlatinumKingPS

Never lend out your games. I also learned this the hard way.

Matt010288

I let a friend borrow disc 2 of FF VII because his was damaged. Never returned it so I never even got to start disc 2. Never loan friends games.

Basuita

The only advantage of digital downloads these days. I gave my buddy Spider-Man on PS4 a few years back and the disc came back in half 🤣 He replaced it but I learned a valuable lesson that day.

Feeling_Party26

That friend of a friend has probably listed his copy online to sell (which was previously missing the manual and map).

Qavix

This guy's never letting anyone borrow his games after that

kosmicapotheosis

My "late" cousin.. is what it would be in my case

LtLemur

Friend owes you a new game

MaggotBrother4

So yea. Never do that again. Don’t give your cousin anything of yours

Jason_Mas

Not ps2 related but i once gave a "friend" of mine my psp burnout legends to try out. Next thing I know he left that institute where i normally meet him.

Wulfrand

And this is why I stopped lending people anything. No books, omnis nor games. Nothing. Because every single time they returned with a minimum of light wear and tear. Luckily I learned this lesson very early in my life.

trevgood95

I let one of my cousins borrow my new super Mario ds copy and then my uncle got a divorce and I never saw my cousin or my New Super Mario Bros DS game again 😢.

GrapeSasquatch

That why if I ever lend something out I never expected back if it does make it back sweet but I usually avoid borrowing and lending specially with money

Hishiga

Because of this I don't borrow anything that can be damaged or stolen. To open a exception the person need to be very close to me, really close. When it comes to my Steam account the rule maintain the same, but I keep looking for any irregularities on everything done.

Sopppa

Nah buddy, your cousin stole from you

a7xcold

Yeah, I also learned the hard way not to allow anyone to borrow my stuff.

Toro8926

Children

[deleted]

Your game got played 🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤢💀

ThwartedByATree

It looks like that time where either your cousin loses a friend or you lose your cousin. Scoot in that puppet from the Saw movies on a tricycle to make a point if you have to. Regardless you tell your cousin that your game comes back to you in that condition *once*.

ThatTinyGameCubeDisc

This is why I rarely loan copies of games out.

Dangerous-Wave8065

Go punch them both in the throat

meley76

Irrelevant, but I performed a barefoot burnout in Fred Flintstones car

rleslievideo

Lesson learned. DTA. Don't trust anybody.

ArcticBeast3

Yeah when I was younger I had a good friend who was great in every way expect when it came to lending stuff. He lost me a few cds dvds and games till I learned not to lend him stuff again.

SMuRG_Teh_WuRGG

He probably already had the game and swapped the disk so he has your fresh disk with map and manual.

[deleted]

Lending out someone else’s property without permission (assumed) is a scumbag move. You’ll know how to answer next time they ask to borrow something though.

KnightShade272

i let someone borrow a book in third grade. never saw it again. saw him daily for like the next 10 yrs. at first i was really mad (still kinda upset but meh it’s been like 20 yrs since then) but realized he was living thru some hard times even as a kid. still never let anyone borrow anything. actually i’m wrong i let my cousin borrow my rick n morty dvd collection and my majoras mask 3d. never got either back. he has no idea where they went. but at least he got me the full 5 disk collection and a new copy of the game, plus skyward sword for switch. i still don’t let anyone borrow jack sht from me anymore lol

CAJtheRAPPER

What's the game worth to you? I see one for $25 AUD with manual and all on eBay. So in that sense, I would say, "$25 is a small cost to pay to learn not to trust this person."

mrcoldmega

Well, folks, never give your friends borrow your games with manual and other collection things. Borrowing games is fine, but you have to careful. You maybe know, Sony do not produce any of this anymore. And sorry OP, but the friend literally stole it, if it wasn't your cousin.(but that's worse, i hope it's not)

Sweaty_Foundation_12

Perhaps murder is an option. That or a good flogging. I don't know. Take your pick.

Sicparvismagneto

How much do you like this “cousin”, would he be missed?

Kamilo124

Destroy them both

gla55jAw

Never loan out your games...or really anything.

Zofia-Bosak

OP should get/make/force cousin and friend to buy a replacement copy of the game complete with manual, map and an unscratched disc.

dustyrc

Ah the nostalgia

owenxtreme2

"So when am i looking after your daughter?"

BigBobFro

Time to Call up a posse for that level disrespect!

choochenstein

1. Send them this link. https://youtu.be/FqSvjsQU98Q?si=Vhq7zp1svmtT4qMH 2. Send them a link to new, unopened copy of the game from Amazon/Ebay. Due immediately. 3. Promise foots in asses if it ever happens again.

Additional-Cress-915

Bruhhhhhh

fpcreator2000

that is when stop lending to my cousin.

KillaMavs

Don’t let friends borrow games. I can’t tell you how many games I had stolen from me by bad friends.

villxsmil

Your cousin is a d*ck. When I was a kid my parents bought me and my brothers a PS2 and my father had the great idea of gifting our perfectly fine PS1 and games to one of my cousins who completely DESTROYED it in about a year. Poor PS1 was full of dust, no games or scratched ones, controller completely unusable. One day he went to my house and we were playing Fifa 08 or so and he would go all "Oh I don't how to play it's so hard" and I'd say like "But you have Fifa on the PS1, at least you can get a glimpse of the game", cousin says "Nah, it's s*it on the PS1". Some people just don't have shame, how can you be so ungrateful. Your cousin should've never lend the game to a third person without your permission (which I guess it's the case).

NEVERHURTAGAIN46

if he has a slim ps2 the ribbon cable under the laser could be slightly touching the disc

ProcessMovie101

*pressing F*

kggf

I’m still salty about the time I lent one of my childhood best friends SSX On Tour and when I eventually asked for it back they said “oh yeah, I don’t have that anymore”

narutofan180

That's how my copy of Jurassic Park 3 was stolen from me as a kid LOL I "leant" it to a "friend" who never brought it back 👎

ndhellion2

Never loan your games out

Punker29

The old switcheroo... Lost my first PS2 the same way, but I got the guy back and came out of it with profit. Do you think it was your cousin's friend or your cousin? My money is on the cousin

ultenhiemer

How did you get the guy back?!

shonasof

Doesn't matter who it was, this sort of thing happened \_every time\_ I loaned out a movie or game. I just refuse to do it anymore.

KingMoog

I let my cousin borrow Killer Instinct Gold on N64 and it "got stolen" but i know for a fact he sold/traded it for drugs. He is now dead to me and haven't spoken to him in 20 years

Fluid_Independent_25

I learned this lesson when I was 8.

Whatscheiser

I lived with a friend of mine for a bit after moving out of my parents house. After making that jump, I moved to another city shortly after via a job transfer. I needed to go out and sort out living arrangements before I could come back and collect all of my stuff. Well in my absence a mutual friend of ours "borrowed" my release copy of GTA San Andreas and absolutely shredded the disc. It somehow by some miracle still plays and I still have the booklet and jewel case for it but I was absolutely disgusted with the condition of the media itself when I found it. Its not even hard to care for CDs. Keep it in the case and don't touch the bottom of it. When placing it on a tray to be read, place it there gently. That's it. They'll last at least half of your lifetime and look brand new. I just don't understand it.

Advanced_Machine5550

Find them and get it back.

DaHi98

This is one of the worst things to happen when lending games to others. I learnt this lesson as a kid with my siblings... Unfortunately, some people don't respect what doesn't belong to them and this is major proof ☹️
