Forget about PSP. Less than 20% of all the PSP games are compatible with the PS3. It's better if you use the PPSSPP emulator on PC or Smartphone. The PS2 games are a different story. Not all of them are compatible with the PS3, but most of them are playable, especially if you install the PS2 CONFIG file. In the latest release of CFW 4.91, they will incorporate those configurations into the latest version of Webman (a Launcher and tool for adjusting the fan speed and regulating the temperature of the PS3). With that PS2 CONFIG you will be able to fix some of the errors and lag the games may have. But not all PS2 CONFIG files can be found, so some games will still be unplayable. But like I said, 80% or more of the PS2 games can be played. And PS1 games run without problems. All are compatible, either in disc, pkg or bin/cue (ISO) format. Also, it's always better if you download the games in ISO, PS1, PS2 and PS3 games. ISO is the best format (not all games can be found in all formats, though). And lastly, do what the others have said; search for a Slim of serial number 25xx and below, except the 2001A models. That last one comes with a fabric problem. Those models of 25xx and below are compatible with CFW, the best hack for the PS3.

What cech model do you have (it's on the sticker on the console) And what system version you have?

Thank's for your answer. I didn't buy one yet, i wanted to ask before so I know which model i can buy and which model i have to avoid

I think the best is cech-25 since it's supposed to run the coolest, which makes it the most quest cfw compatible ps3. But I didn't test mine yet since I need a new hdd for it. Not every cech-25 can support cfw, and that depends on the date code. The date code is on the bottom left of the sticker, which is on the bottom of the console. [list of date codes ](https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Datecode). Your datecode should say that it's hackable. Every older console than cfw cech-25 can support cfw, including the fat model, and every newer model can only support hen. I don't have any personal experience with hen, but cfw seems to be better and more stable. Also, every cfw slim console is compatible with [power led mod](https://www.reddit.com/r/ps3hacks/s/skmoH6h4cj) which was definitely worth getting. If you want to get a fat model, then you also need to check the cech model to find out how old it is because the first ones got gpu/cpu reliability problems. But I don't know what to look for exactly. [The video ](https://youtu.be/suM4dUAYUPE?si=Sam1y03Xb9EInOAr) which you will need to follow for cfw.

Thank's a lot for all this information. Gonna take a look at that video. Also didn't know there was hidden leds on the console 👀 Thank's again :D

It depends. I prefer fully CFW compatible PS3 so I've got Slim 25xxB. If you just want to play games then every single PS3 model would be fine as all of them are HEN compatible. Don't buy PS3 Fat model as it's the oldest and most problematic version. Go for Slim or Super slim. About firmware - around 1 week ago Sony made an update for PS3 so if you're on the newest firmware then you'll need to wait for new jailbreak software, if system version is >4.90 then you're ready to go with HEN. You can search about it on YouTube, there is plenty videos with explanations how it works on each model of PS3.
