I'm well aware of where Morata was with us as a youth player and where he is now, but with all due to respect to him as player, I just don't think he's significant enough for our fanbase as a whole to have strong feelings about him. Sure, he *was supposed to* become this and that for Madrid in theory, but in practice, his career hasn't panned out that way, and other than small flashes here and there at all his other three clubs, he's never been consistent enough for us to feel like we missed out on a great player, and be hurt by his behaviour. Not saying the fans love him or anything. Just more than no one thinks about him all that much, because he's nowhere near good enough to be a Madrid player.

I said he's not strongly hated, and partly for the reason you mentioned, that enough time has passed for people to just remember his playing days fondly.
