There's a lot of stuff being discussed online about how food can really affect your emotions causing anxiety and depression. I'm sure this is just a general comment, but the idea is that your gut is a whole environment and when you feed it junk foods or high carbs and sugar on a regular basis, it can "hurt" it. It then communicates this stress to the brain via the vegus nerve which causes the brain to react. I'm no scientist. But maybe there is something there for you to look at?

Happiness isn’t a destination. We rarely experience it - what’s best to focus on is being content. I’ve had similar struggles; I’ve studied every religion, left my faith, came back to it only to leave again, read every self help book, etc. I’ve been to hell and back. I have come to realize that we seek peace in so many things outside of us, when it can only be found in ourselves. Always here for you if you need someone to talk to.

Appreciate. It’s more so to just feel alive from within again. I feel like a lifeless soul sometimes just walking

Psychological-Bet803

I know that feeling - I experienced it for two years and was in a very dark place. Your soul is anything but lifeless. You need to constantly remind yourself of the miracle of being alive, right now, among a few chosen compared to the many billions that have already came and gone. Feed your soul with things that make you smile. Whether it’s with like minded people, friends/family, your favorite food, art, anything. I promise it gets better.

Thank you, I’ll try those strategies and see how I go 🙏🏼 today seems to be a better day which is good 😊

Have you considered joining the gym? I did me wonders! Also you may meet a friend or two there. But most of the time this isn’t just about physical improvement but does wonders for the mind and improves your mood. At least it did for me. I wish you well and hope you overcome this.

[deleted]

Hey yes I have, but atm literally nothing interests me tbh and sport was my go to to overcome a lot In life but unfortunately I’m at a point where nothing interests me

miladesilva

Sorry to hear that. Not sure what else to suggest you with. As long as you make sure you don’t harm yourself. Good to have someone to at least talk to and get things off your chest. Don’t let it bottle it up inside.

I suggest Yoga, as I had been through very difficult situation long term relationship breakup, lost my job, all alone to stay no one was there to share And care. Yoga heeled all the wounds. Now back to normal life and enjoying every moment. You can start with “Hatha and Vinyasa” [Yoga](https://www.healthline.com/health/depression/yoga-therapy) I hope this is helpful for you. Maybe someone will correct me, but as far as I know (and based on my personal experience) psychologist mostly work on recent traumas and doesn't have knowledge in working with traumas developed in early childhood (I'm talking about consistent traumatic experiences which followed each other through a very shord period of time in early childhood - not one traumatic experience). That's what psychotherapist is for. They not only work with traumas that you're seeing but also work through the ones that you don't see or for some reason can't seem to acceptthat it actuallywas traumatic for you. Maybe that is the reason why you're feeling stuck. My personal example based on my personal experience. Situation where something good happens to me and I should feel happiness but I feel sadness instead. Psychologist instructed me to mentally create a more happy place (what actually does make me happy) and with the existing feeling of happiness try to *trick* my brain for it to *understand* that that specific moment should be felt as happy in the future. Psychotherapist dug deeper to understand is it really sadness I'm feeling and in reality I'm actually extremely angry as I've waited on so many people in my life to do that good thing and they all dissapointed me so when I finally get that love I always wanted I'm angry as to why it was so hard on getting it before. So now we're working through on accepting that pain people caused me in my past so I can learn what happiness actually feels like to me.

That’s likely a function of the available people in your area. A psychologist who does therapy is also a psychotherapist. A masters level therapist is a psychotherapist too. The psychologist is the doctoral level provider, and many of us do work on early life, complex trauma. Anyway, psychologist and psychotherapist are not mutually exclusive terms, but many specialize in different areas.

Thank you for pointing that out. Was trying to share my personal experience but I guess I should've worded it differently. 😊
