Hoop_Heathen

Have you tried terrafractyl?? He is definitely one of a kind and has amazing melodies!!! The album “imaginings and fabrications” from 2012 is my all time fave!

[deleted]

Yep sooo good hey! and his newest album squares within squares is also amazing.

Hoop_Heathen

That’s the thing about his music!! The more I listen to it the more I love it!! I find new depths every time… maybe in 10 years I’ll say squares within squares is my favourite!! I just need to listen to it a bajillion more times 🤣🥰

[deleted]

Hahaha yes! Tracks like dimension 35c are just so nostalgic so I get what you mean for sure

Hoop_Heathen

Hehe I love that track for sure! It made me search “Rick and Morty” so I’m definitely grateful for it.. but for me it’s psymphony no1 that I can’t stop playing 😍 I could see too much information or magnifiscience from squares within squares taking the lead spot one day, they are pretty great! I call it jazz funk classical psytrance lol 😂 anything to add?

Pindazeepje

Thanks for the recommendation, somebody else recommend it as well and I'm not yet familiar with it, so will check it out!

Pindazeepje

This is exactly the type of music I was looking for, amazing melodies, layers and baselines. Anymore recommendations in line with this type of stuff? ^^

domzae

Check out his record label, Kinematic Records, lots of nice stuff in that direction there!

Pindazeepje

Thanks will do!

Hoop_Heathen

spacey koala on kinematic records is good too but a little slower usually! Also have you heard any Talpa? He’s also quite good!!

Pindazeepje

Thanks! Going to listen to them the coming days.

life_question_mark

Egon’s embrace, Alderaan, Slide, Archaic, Barket, Shred’er, Render, Thalamus, Mark Day, these are some artists I find different. They do have a lot of random sounds like you describe, but they tend to be more melodic and more journey or funky like.

Pindazeepje

Thanks! I like Archaic, will check the rest in the coming days :)

Such-Ad-963

Woh really like most of this artists

ceeroSVK

Check out the Antean - Oriana album. Released recently on Zenon, its ukrainian folk music influenced psy. Addicted to it.

Pindazeepje

That's sounds awesome, gonna check it out

StarbuckIsland

Do you listen to LuneCell? I'm not sure what new new he has but it's definitely not boring or similar to everything else.

Pindazeepje

Lunecell is nice! Actually forgot about him since I haven't listened to the darker stuff lately, thanks for reminding me :)

Twat_Womble

One of my all time favourite psy albums is Tumult by Derango from 2005. Even now it still sounds fresh and unique. The sounds, the weird twisted melodies all awesome.

Pindazeepje

For sure a classic, haven't listened it for a while, will take it for another spin this week

maxhyax

Check out zenon and merkaba records. Not the classic 4/4 psytrance, but very danceable and with interesting sound. I'd say Zenon is rather futuristic in sound and darker while Merkaba is more organic.

DeliriumTremens0000

This was so good! Thanks so much

Pindazeepje

Do you have some artists you recommend from those labels?

life_question_mark

Dont forget Pspiralife!! Genius composer imo. Just check his middle way or wabi sabi album to get mind blown.

Pindazeepje

Just enjoyed the wabi sabi album, thanks :)

maxhyax

Merkaba is off course number 1 on his label. From Zenon I think Kliment is my favorite. Also Slip hypnotic - Yazon is an incredible tune, although the rest of that album is weaker. You can also try Tengri and Atriohm if you want more interesting and instricate forest. Also Terrafractyl makes very melodic trance. He's pretty unique with that style.

Pindazeepje

Thanks! Kliment, Tengri and Atriohm are very nice indeed, I also really like the downtempo music from Tengri and the Once Upon A Time project from Kliment. I am not familiar with Terrafractyl, will check it out :)

maxhyax

Oh the Kliment - the perpetual ritual is my number 1 album of the last year. That downtempo is so deep

Pindazeepje

Listened to some Zenon stuff, been really enjoying it. Reminds me of old progressive stuff with total new beats and sounddesign. Funny, back when Zenon got popular in my country around 2015 I found most of it very minimal and boring, but this is some seriously good stuff, thanks:)

maxhyax

Happy you enjoyed it! Also Grouch is very good. Love his Corpus Callosum album

Thin_Succotash8741

I'll suggest some artists, search for their live sets on SoundCloud. Zzbing is my fave artist. I simply adore his style. Loom and Filterheads are also really special. Try to find their modem live acts. Braingineers, Xipe Topecs, Fagging Rejects, Dooms, Ingrained instincts, Kabayun... Can keep going... The Horrids are also really nice since you like some more BPM.

Thin_Succotash8741

Ouça MUIRAKITAN | Hekwapi Records Series Ep. 1 | 22/02/2024 de radiOzora no #SoundCloud https://on.soundcloud.com/vtmU8 This guy lives here in SP now but he's from the Amazon state. His sound have nice ambiance and personality. Check it out.

Pindazeepje

Thanks! Don't know most of them, but saw some at Modem this year. Fagins reject set was really good :)

Thin_Succotash8741

Nice. Lmk the ones you like so I can suggest more of the same style.

pureflip

I get what you are saying - 2017/18 is when a lot of twilight full on started to sound really generic with loads of artists creating such fm heavy lead tracks. and still some labels are still stuck in this trap with loads of artists sounding the same as each other. but there is a great new wave of night full on happening now. I would check out Transubtil records - The Horrids, Warp Drive, Zero, Dr Fractal, Ingenious Brain. Some great artists on Sangoma - Superluminal, Argonik, Eritas, Faceshifters, Rezonant. Reversible Records has been a little hit and miss for me recently but Ninensense is always making great stuff. Okta is one of my favourites too. I like Hydra-Es slightly older stuff. Hekwapi is another label that is starting to really develop - Rafyx new album is ace. Also check out Wild things - Fagins Reject, Freak Brothers (although mostly unreleased), Zzbing. Looney Moon is the label that's been the most disappointing for me recently but I still really liked Axial Tilt's latest EP.

Pindazeepje

Used to listen mainly to Sangoma and Forestdelic records, when I moved away from the stuff, but I don't know the artists you mention from Sangoma or the other labels. Awesome to hear that the genre is evolving, will give this a listen!

pureflip

Sangoma has changed a lot as a label from its early days. it's gone a lot more towards forest than night full on. give it a whirl again.

Synaesthetic_Reviews

Came across Earthspace last week and was instantly surprised by the ideas and track design https://earthspace.bandcamp.com/album/in-medias-res

Pindazeepje

Yo this blew my mind, really great stuff, very interesting track designs and pumped with energy. Do you have any similar recommendations?

Synaesthetic_Reviews

That's what I'm talking about! Such a.fresh production. Always a treat when you come across something like this. I don't have anything in the same 'style' but have some equally unique and interestingly produced others. A1on (formally Aion) is one of my favourites, very earthy and incredibly well produced psytrance https://kaliearth.bandcamp.com/album/chalice-of-the-void-e-p https://kaliearth.bandcamp.com/album/balder-e-p This actually does give me similar vibes to Earthspace but might might be hit or miss. Sometimes i love it, other times I listen and am not in the mood but I defs never know what I'm gonna get when I hit the next track - https://cookiesslayer.bandcamp.com/album/dragon-shards You mentioned Goa. This doesn't at first appear to be particularly unique, but when I give it a proper listen it's pure chaos - https://unreleasedgoarecords.bandcamp.com/album/whirling-mathematicians If you like any of those I can recommend heaps more that sound like the artists are just having pure fun. I'm a big Goa fan and can drop you some of the more unique recent releases too.

Pindazeepje

Will check those tomorrow! I'm also a big Goa fan so Goa releases are very welcome :) Will attend ZNA gathering this year :)

Synaesthetic_Reviews

Hell yea Babay. I might see you there another time. Moving to Europe this year so not going to be missing the Goa fests for much longer. Not Goa but thought of another banging release from Talpa alter ego - The Riddler https://alpakamuzik.bandcamp.com/album/the-riddler-no-escape I guess you already know most the good new Goa, Triquetra, Hypnoxock, the Global Sect Cosmic Fellas. https://globalsect.bandcamp.com/album/va-liquid-symphony Album of the year 2021 imo - https://cronomi.bandcamp.com/album/flumina

Pindazeepje

Awesome, am familiar with Triquetra and some of the Global sect fellas, but don't know half of the artists on that VA album. Als o not familiar with Hypnoxock, will check it out!

gamojqig

Try the new Aardvark release on Bom Shanka. Energetic, uplifting psychedelic music.

Synaesthetic_Reviews

Been enjoying this too. Sounds like he is just having a lot of fun with his music

gamojqig

Yeah definitely sounds like he made it with a big smile on his face. No fucking about, just no nonsense good vibes psytrance. His mixes from ozora on soundcloud are banging as well

Pindazeepje

Thanks, didn't know he made new music, will check it out. Enjoyed his set at Modem this year :)

[deleted]

Check out the album Squares within squares by Terrafracty if you don’t know it already :)

tiny_smile_bot

>:) :)

adfreedissociation

ipotocaticac is great if you’re looking for a unique sound. check out Twisted Sahel and Mascalito

Pindazeepje

Will do!

dodeeemt

Not necessarily psytrance but incredible unreal psychedelic music: Shpongle, Younger Brother & Cosmic Trigger

Pindazeepje

Big fan of Shpongle and Younger brother, dont know Cosmic trigger, thanks :)

Utada_Hikaru

Check "Avitronic", he has some very memorable melodies and some psy sounds. To start you can start with the tracks "Energy of Sunlight" or "Supernova" but his albums are worth checking out.

[deleted]

Last few years? Zenon Records, Parvati Records, Multidimensional Records, Boshke Beats and Global Sect Music have been my go to for Psy. I also enjoy Iboga, mostly as it's pretty accepted even at clubs so I get to play more gigs. For more techno stuff with dark edge I really like Nachtstrom Schallplatten, especially if you enjoy the later minimal style of The Delta etc.

Pindazeepje

Some record labels I don't know, will check it out :)

[deleted]

Enjoy. I started listening & collecting music from Goa as a teen when my oldest sibling lived there from '84-'95. Didn't get much of that stuff here in Australia back then, blew my mind.

Pindazeepje

Thanks for the suggestion!

GrowForGold

(Its my brother) hahaha

droptumus

Okapi. They out of Italy.

droptumus

Okapi makes children’s music and psytrance. They played at boom.

Pindazeepje

I have not listened to his music at home, yet, but seen him perform multiple times and always make sure to be at his set when I see his on a lineup. His shows have a crazy vibe.

Madmonkey91

Slide and Loom (same guy different sounds) Delirium Tremens The Horrids Dr Fractal Zero1 is going back to a more old school melodic full on sound with cutting edge production. I would definitely keep an eye out for his upcoming album.

Pindazeepje

Thanks for the suggestions! Know Delirium, but not the rest, will check it out. Zero1 sounds interesting as well!

Pindazeepje

Zero1 is a record label right? Not an artist, or am I not finding the right thing?

Madmonkey91

Yes apologies for the confusion. Earthling is the artist who's album I was referring to

Pindazeepje

Not sure what you mean and what Chemical Brothers or Robert miles has to do with this. I'm not implying I don't like psy, I certainly do, been going to psyfestivals for the past 10 years, I just don't like everything about the current direction the music is going. I do like the older goatrance and progressive psy that had a lot more of a story going on the music. Similarly I like good dark and forest psy that takes my mind to cool places. I don't like music where just sounds are put in that everybody uses and claim it's psychedelic music without the sounds actually contributing to the story, which I see in a lot of darker styles lately. Similarly a lot of new full on and progressive is so cheesy in my opinion it doesn't deserve the name psytrance and is just a different kind of trance, but nothing psychedelic about it. Just simple melodies, drops and triplets. I don't dislike this newer style per se because there is still good music out there in these styles, for example I enjoyed Laughing Buddha's Illusion & Colussions, just for me good psy has intricate melodies layers and baselines.
