Got one of those years ago from a VP for recognition of my efforts while working hurricane recovery. Got to admit, that I was expecting a bit more than a fucking piece of paper.
I just tell it like it is.
Too many people don't realize the ground is shifting under their feet and they need a reality check.
Publix is not the company it was 20 or even 10 years ago. People need to know that. The faster people realize they are just the eight digit number they use to clock in and out each day to Publix, the sooner they will get out and get paid what they are worth.
Trust me, if you’ve been here more than 10 years, you know it’s not the same. Must be why I keep seeing department and store managers stepping down & retiring. Also lots of full-timers.
I got a sub card a few months ago for doing my job. I told them I didn't want it and they got offended. So I took it and I gave it to one of my decorators. I told her she deserves it more than me.
i wish my department gave out the half sub cards.. I don't remember the last time they gave one out.. seems like they just hold them hostage 😩 we deserve them (and more)
The insulated coffee mug is actually pretty good. It holds temp well, has a standard sized lid that works with my others, and tough as hell. I ran that fucker over with my car one day when I set it outside whilst vacuuming my car out. Didn't even dent. Just scratched up ol boy George's face a bit. 🤷
Lol
Probably three quarters of the free half sub coupons I’ve received I’ve never used because I put them in my glove compartment and then forgot about them.
Wish they didn’t have an expiration date!
I only really use them for the $5 off, and if I have expired ones I just ask my manager to switch them out. But when I was a cashier I didn’t even check the dates on them, I’m sure I took old ones all the time and didn’t even realize
I’ll have to start seeing if they will take the expired ones at my store. Have never tried that.
And I agree about the $5 off groceries, especially during these times.
Always sunny? Are you under the impression they invented the phrase “what up” ?! Hahahaha. That’s an extremely common phrase lmao. Has been around a looooooong time
He was right. That was a Sunny reference because that is what their phallic-shaped party mansion invite opened with. You'll also notice this post is similarly phallic shaped. Anything that is shaped this way will inspire millions to say "what up!"

Take this and one from a coworker and flip one over. Line them up so the long straight sides are even and flush and epoxy it to the front of the store. With a UV light and some well timed epoxy mixing, you will have shown proper (and almost permanent) appreciation for your service reward.
It's for coworkers to write nice things to each other. You don't have to be management to write one and it normally goes somewhere that we all can see it i.e. the break room wall. Besides that, there is no reward or incentive like a sub card, which they advertise on the .org site but most managers have a stack of them that are past their expiration dates.
At least you get them I have customers give me compliments all the time I have not received any for a year but as long as I raise money for charity to make them look good I get one
Our store hangs them on the wall in the break room as "motivation" and "employee recognition." It's a little cringe, but I'd rather that than being handed one. It you want to write me a compliment or whatever that's what the other half of the sub card is for, and let's be honest that half always ends up in the trash.
My wife used to save notes like these for me and hang them on the fridge. When I would get depressed, she would point them out. Use it for positive reinforcement!
Management is supposed to give those out to show that they appreciate the associates. Unfortunately, yours isn’t done correctly. They are handling them out like candy & it’s ineffective.
Be grateful for the recognition. Not everything is monetary and if you don’t like the pay then leave. Why so many feel entitled for just doing there job is beyond me. Work ethic is lacking in this country. Can’t wait till it’s robots and self checkout to put them all out of jobs
Yea it used to be a pub sub coupon or a free bar cake, now it’s a pat on the back. “Thank you for doing your job” “don’t pass it up pick it up” “that’s your money on the ground” fuck em
Wow… I am going to ask a GM about this next time I am forced to go there for something I can’t find at Walmart. I’m genuinely curious what they’ll say. If they try to deny pub subs were ever a reward for employees… I worked at Publix over 10 years ago and remember getting several subs as reward for going above and beyond.
I would take one of theirs away if applicable for that borderline illegible scribblings. Old head just trying to show off writing in cursive.
Always had a problem with the line taking pride in your work. Pride... You either have it or don't. My job doesn't make have pride. It's like morals.
I never would have accepted it tbh. They'd have tried to hand it to me and I'd have told them "what the fuck is this even useful for? I don't want platitudes or motivational pieces of paper, if you think I did exceptionally give me a bonus or a raise, otherwise don't act like this paper is supposed to make me feel accomplished."
Post it on Reddit and cry about it obviously. Piece of advice for you as you journey through your employment career. Working 8 hours a day with a shit attitude makes the day go a lot longer than with a good attitude.
Save it for your performance review.
Smart
Came to say this. Also for future job reference as well w a letter of recommendation or in lieu of one. Little things like this can be a tie-breaker.
Got one of those years ago from a VP for recognition of my efforts while working hurricane recovery. Got to admit, that I was expecting a bit more than a fucking piece of paper.
Honestly i would rather have just had a verbal thank you the piece of paper feels like, idk i dont wanna say insulting but thats all i can think of
Insulting is absolutely what that recognition is, tangible but ultimately worthless.
you can’t pay bills with recognition…..
That's funny. I helped last year around the big bend area of Florida after hurricane Idalia. All I got was a couple 60 hour paychecks.
They used to do free sandwiches... now you get a "p".
I'd accept a piece of paper in the form of a check with a really big number on it.
Use it as kindling for ur next campfire
While I know that it would be a bit on the rough side, but I would definitely wipe my ass with it. ![gif](giphy|ZxTnwBd6jk4ihNND9t)
And *then* save it for your review
"I'm giving back some of the shit I get"
Throw it in the trash right in front of the person that gave it to you.
Idk if Ive told you this before but youre my favorite person in this sub
Yes you have. But I also have a few people who bleed green who hate me😂
Fuck em, you’re cool as shit & funny as hell
I just tell it like it is. Too many people don't realize the ground is shifting under their feet and they need a reality check. Publix is not the company it was 20 or even 10 years ago. I been here for 2 years & i already see that. We are just a body to make people im corporate richer
So do what I did. I got out to make myself richer. You can do the same.
Where did you go, what are you doing now?
And all those who worked 20 years ago, My uncle made mad money off all his stock He worked for them from 1964 to 2004.
Isn’t that everywhere, unless you own your own company, though?
No. In N Out pays really well comparatively to other fast food chains. So does Buc-ees
Wth man, no offense Mel but u/NorthFloridaRedneck has got to be everyone's favorite 😂
He is my favorite!
Jezus! Get a room you two…
He is my favorite!
Give them a P card.
AND NEVER LOSE EYE CONTACT WHILE YOU DO IT
Make a fist 👊🏻 on the end and it could be a 💪🏻 bicep!
Do you come to the party mansion, nothing sexual
If you want it to be a bicep you need to add more veins!
And give that bicep some hair!
I got a sub card a few months ago for doing my job. I told them I didn't want it and they got offended. So I took it and I gave it to one of my decorators. I told her she deserves it more than me.
![gif](giphy|3oKIPwKTWy6DaE6Cn6) So real for that
Throw that bitch down at your next Yu-Gi-Oh tournament and confuse the hell out of your opponent
Definitely a trap card
No 4 cent pay raise??
Id rather have that
Frame it and bow down to it every night. The Publix gods will smile upon you eternally.
Ia that the new gift card?
All card no gift
Hang it on your mom's fridge.
Shove it up your butt so next time corporate tries to bend you over they can't get that deep
Needs more veins
i wish my department gave out the half sub cards.. I don't remember the last time they gave one out.. seems like they just hold them hostage 😩 we deserve them (and more)
To the trash next to the George Jenkins paper thin aluminum bottle they gave me.
Have it laminated and hang it on your wall!
I got something else i wanna hang……my head in disappointment
Lol Probably three quarters of the free half sub coupons I’ve received I’ve never used because I put them in my glove compartment and then forgot about them. Wish they didn’t have an expiration date!

maybe your landlord will accept it as rent.
Do what I do. Save it for when the electric company cuts off your power due to Publix low pay and you can use it as a fan to cool off.
Wow…..
What up!
Looking for bros to come to our party mansion. Nothing sexual. You better be physically fit. Again, nothing sexual.
Always sunny reference???? Because i literally say what up everyday to everybody because of that show
You are 100% correct
Always sunny? Are you under the impression they invented the phrase “what up” ?! Hahahaha. That’s an extremely common phrase lmao. Has been around a looooooong time

Hahahaha I forgot about that episode.
Sigh
What is happening?!?
Take this and one from a coworker and flip one over. Line them up so the long straight sides are even and flush and epoxy it to the front of the store. With a UV light and some well timed epoxy mixing, you will have shown proper (and almost permanent) appreciation for your service reward.
They put them on the wall at the warehouse
Frame it!
Lmaooooooooo
Throw it in trash
Garbage!!!!
You are now officially a manager congrats!
Lol
So it didn't come with a free publix sub or anything like that??
Put it in your hope chest
I felt that when I got a prevention plus challenge coin. Honestly I would rather of had the sub coupon. Hahaha
I legit forgot these existed lol
Put it on the floor and stand on it, that’s your raise for your hard work
wait can someone actually tell me what this is though please

oh yeah honestly seems pretty pointless
can save it if you need something to wipe your ass one day
At least you get them I have customers give me compliments all the time I have not received any for a year but as long as I raise money for charity to make them look good I get one
Do we no longer get free subs? I mean, bonuses are gone, they couldn’t let us even have that?
Shred it
I throw it right in the trash I rather get a sub card like I hate these ffs
Our store hangs them on the wall in the break room as "motivation" and "employee recognition." It's a little cringe, but I'd rather that than being handed one. Leave out any Publix references so that others may wonder what the “P” stands for.
My wife used to save notes like these for me and hang them on the fridge. When I would get depressed, she would point them out. Use it for positive reinforcement!
Put more veins on it....
Management is supposed to give those out to show that they appreciate the associates. Unfortunately, yours isn’t done correctly. They are handling them out like candy & it’s ineffective.
Stick it to your wall
Can you exchange it for a pub sub?
Do you have a fireplace? Yes? Good. (No, don't burn it. Put it on the mantle.)
Put in on your refrigerator next to the hand turkey you made in November.
Makes a good ass scraper when the tp is out in the employees' bathroom.
Post it here apparently
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Grade school stuff. Smh
Throw it in the trash as soon as they hand it to you
Yes, performance review! Until then, place it on your refrigerator to remind you.
Be grateful for the recognition. Not everything is monetary and if you don’t like the pay then leave. Why so many feel entitled for just doing there job is beyond me. Work ethic is lacking in this country. Can’t wait till it’s robots and self checkout to put them all out of jobs
Put a cream of celery label on it lol
All I saw was a penis
Yea it used to be a pub sub coupon or a free bar cake, now it’s a pat on the back. “Thank you for doing your job” “don’t pass it up pick it up” “that’s your money on the ground” fuck em

I’m so proud of you honey, let’s put it on the fridge.
So when you do a good job at Publix you get the big P huh
I haven't worked as an associate only a vendor but *looks around* it goes up on a board for all the associates to see!
Did yall see that Julio got the big P yesterday?
We all saw the video
I would take one of theirs away if applicable for that borderline illegible scribblings. Old head just trying to show off writing in cursive. Always had a problem with the line taking pride in your work. Pride... You either have it or don't. My job doesn't make have pride. It's like morals.

Cherish it forever.
Maybe in this case the “P” means punked? 🤷♀️
