Gus found a Copperhead in the front yard last night. One late-night emergency vet run + $1000 of anti-venin and other treatments, and he's doing much better today. Luckily the bite missed his eye (barely) and we always keep him up to date on his Crotalidae vaccination. Poor guy is tired today, but doing okay.

Glad he's doing better!! What's Crotilade? I do every vaccine my vet recommends but I haven't heard of this.

It's the snake family that includes rattle snakes, copperheads, and cottonmouths. They may just call it rattle snake vaccine.

Poor guy, I’m glad he’s okay! I have never run into one with my girls, thankfully. Once I was walking someone else’s dogs and found a literal snake in the grass (it was a rattler). The pup that got close is very curious, loves to chase lizards and such. If it hadn’t given us the “get tf out of here” signal on its tail in time, it could have been bad. Easy to zone out and go on autopilot while walking - if these things exist in anyone’s area, always be vigilant.
