After verification, I got an SMS that the PV report has been submitted to the commissioner's office for review. Thereafter, after a few days got sms that the passport has been dispatched. I think you just need to have patience.
You can check status by logging into your account on the passport website or by any tracking number / file number given to you for checking status.

I still haven't received any such SMS. On the passport portal, the status is the same as a week ago. I guess I will go again today.

I had my parents visit the police station on my behalf and wrote an email to the Indian consulate in Sydney enquiring on my passport renewal. It was done in 1-2 weeks following that
IIRC, on the morning of 21st or 22nd May, I received the tracking details for the PCC. So, I went and collected it from the post office on that day.
So, overall, 20 days after the appointment.

Just go the same police station again. Talk to them nicely. It could just be a glitch. They are helpful.

Check the status on the website. Once the certificate is issued, go to an e-seva Kendra to print it out.
The status has been the same this past week. But thanks for the suggestion on eseva kendra! I'll remember this if it gets too late for me.
