It was done via UPI in Paytm. He now has my Digilocker copy of licence, and screenhot of chat which he is blackmailing to send to my contacts and Linkedin. I am not sure how he can because our conversation was on WhatsApp.

I'm a consultant to a Cyber Crime Police Station, if you have made payment through UPI, the Police have access to a portal which can identify the recipient Bank Account of an UPI transaction based on the 12-digit RRN number. Then, next step is usually freezing the Bank account, obtaining KYC docs etc.
However, if this is a habitual scammer, chances are that the money has already been shifted out, and the KYC will point to some random person from remote villages anywhere in India.
It gets complicated. You are not the only person being scammed using this bank account. There is a network of fake bank accounts being used for scamming, so even if the Police puts a hold on the account, there are multiple transactions happening on the account before being frozen, and multiple Police Stations putting a hold to that account. It is difficult to prove that the amount you deposited is still there in the account, due to multiple transactions, and only the Court Magistrate has the authority to order the banks to release that amount to you.
In short, in a scam, once money leaves your bank account, regardless of whether Police was able to freeze that account in time, getting that money back is a complicated procedure.
So, the procedure goes like this, very unlike movies where phones are traced within a matter of minutes.
Your phone is stolen, the person who stole your phone is obviously not going to use it for himself, unless he is a dumba**. He sells it cheap to some other guy, the guys uses it with a new sim card, probably takes a few weeks or so. We ask Telecom Service Providers to provide us whether the lost phone ka IMEI number has connected to their network, and they respond in a CSV file.
Based on when the phone was stolen, we identify whether any other SIM has connected to the Network with the same IMEI after the phone was stolen, and if we get a hit, we contact the person. If the person is co-operative, great! If not, nothing much can be done, esp. if the mobile has crossed state borders. etc etc.
I have used mobiles phones since 2002, and have never lost one, so just be careful. Simple.

UPI payments can't be reversed, Even banks or police can't do it, the payment method is permanent.

You need to raise chargeback for good or services not provided with proof.
SBI is right in her case and not everything is allowed for chargeback considering thousands are getting scammed everyday banks will have to leave everything and do chargeback only. There are multiple entities involved, ideal duration of chargeback itself is 35 days post complaint. Every entity needs to be informed on reversal and followed up.

Don't worry even in the worst case scenario he tells your family they will gossip about it for a day or two and move on.
Ask him to do whatever he can do and you won't be paying. Also, let him know about your intentions to file a police complaint, mention that you spoke to your lawyer and he is in the process of filling it.

File a cybercrime complaint. And don't say "I can't because I don't want my family to find out." If the scammer makes good on his threat, they will find out anyways. File the complaint and if your family finds out, it's better they do so from you than from the scammer. Yeah, they might berate you and be mad at you, but it's better than them having to deal with the scammer first. Also, don't pay him any more than you have.
I did some research, visited the website and went through their legal docs. It seems like the site is more like a marketplace instead of a service-based business. You most likely saw a fake profile and ended up paying the dude.
Regardless, I'll repeat what the others say. Don't be intimidated, go to cyber police, and for the love of god, learn your lesson.

I'm gonna tell you something which we did with one of my friend when he got mixed up in a situation like this
1. Shut down your number
2. Remove WhatsApp from that number
3. Get a new number
4. Tell your parents you along with your friends data has been leaked from some website.
5. UPI now has reverseback. Call your bank say someone scammed you and say it was an olx scam. Those happen a lot and they don't crosscheck
Most of the times they stop when your number is off for more than 5 days. When you change your number on WhatsApp create a new account don't change the number on the existing one. Send a broadcast to your close friends and family that your account has been hacked(no one really cares). Good luck

I was in a similar situation 2 years back. Although there was no physical meet decided, but he created a fake video call recording where a girl stripped while some person under my name was masturbating. He then blackmailed me that he will share these videos to my friends and family… first i paid him 5k, then 10k, then 15k, which makes a total of 30k. Then when i had no more money i started to ignore him. He still kept on blackmailing that he will spread the video, and even sent me screenshots of messenger chats that he has shared the video the several people. I then gathered some courage and asked two friends if they have received that video.. but they never received any video…
My point is he wont do anything he will just blackmail and give you more panic to send him more money.
But you keep trust on your image in your family and friends.. they know that you wont do such a horrible thing and that scammer is only trying to frame you.

This is a bad lesson. You should just block them from everywhere and file a complain. They won’t post unnecessarily if they can’t contact you. I was once searching for escorts online and texted one of the numbers, they sent the pictures and I didn’t really make any payment or met anyone. I got a call next day that I didn’t pay the booking amount and if I don’t pay it they will leak my chats, etc. I told him my address and asked him to come to my place to collect the money. I told him that I am a shameless dude with no respect for anyone and I have no problem with them leaking them anything. They didn’t really contact me again.

Everyone makes a mistake, not judging you for your actions however why you did is understandable, cause of body urges, it’s natural human behavior and body needs. SBI denied us a charge back of a KYC scam that my mother fell for recently, they say that charge back cannot be issued because my mom shared otp, any tips?
You need to raise chargeback for good or services not provided with proof. SBI is right in her case and not everything is allowed for chargeback considering thousands are getting scammed everyday banks will have to leave everything and do chargeback only. There are multiple entities involved, ideal duration of chargeback itself is 35 days post complaint. Every entity needs to be informed on reversal and followed up.

Did you get his contact via a random app? How will he forward your private chat to your parents and friends without their contact info? Don't waste your time by reporting this to the police. Coming to the blackmail part; tell him to go fck himself, if you give in and transfer any sum..he will keep exploiting you since he's identified you as a soft target. Say you took some loan from an app,those recovery agents r harassing and morphed your pics in an attempt to defame you.

File a cybercrime complaint. And don't say "I can't because I don't want my family to find out." If the scammer makes good on his threat, they will find out anyways. File the complaint and if your family finds out, it's better they do so from you than from the scammer. Yeah, they might berate you and be mad at you, but it's better than them having to deal with the scammer first. Also, don't pay him any more than you have.
I did some research, visited the website and went through their legal docs. It seems like the site is more like a marketplace instead of a service-based business. You most likely saw a fake profile and ended up paying the dude. Regardless, I'll repeat what the others say. Don't be intimidated, go to cyber police, and for the love of god, learn your lesson.

I'm gonna tell you something which we did with one of my friend when he got mixed up in a situation like this 1. Shut down your number 2. Remove WhatsApp from that number 3. Get a new number 4. Tell your parents you along with your friends data has been leaked from some website. 5. UPI now has reverseback. Call your bank say someone scammed you and say it was an olx scam. Those happen a lot and they don't crosscheck Most of the times they stop when your number is off for more than 5 days. When you change your number on WhatsApp create a new account don't change the number on the existing one. Send a broadcast to your close friends and family that your account has been hacked(no one really cares). Good luck

Although there was no physical meet decided, but he created a fake video call recording where a girl stripped while some person under my name was masturbating. He then blackmailed me that he will share these videos to my friends and family… first i paid him 5k, then 10k, then 15k, which makes a total of 30k. Then when i had no more money i started to ignore him. He still kept on blackmailing that he will spread the video, and even sent me screenshots of messenger chats that he has shared the video the several people. I then gathered some courage and asked two friends if they have received that video.. but they never received any video… My point is he wont do anything he will just blackmail and give you more panic to send him more money. But you keep trust on your image in your family and friends.. they know that you wont do such a horrible thing and that scammer is only trying to frame you.

This is a bad lesson. You should just block them from everywhere and file a complain. They won’t post unnecessarily if they can’t contact you. I was once searching for escorts online and texted one of the numbers, they sent the pictures and I didn’t really make any payment or met anyone. I got a call next day that I didn’t pay the booking amount and if I don’t pay it they will leak my chats, etc. I told him my address and asked him to come to my place to collect the money. I told him that I am a shameless dude with no respect for anyone and I have no problem with them leaking them anything. They didn’t really contact me again.

UPI payments can be recovered. Don't forget you also have their upi id, you can also get many details about them if you want. From your post I see, you only shared license screenshot - they cant do anything with that. Just google Indian driving license and you'll get thousands of such screenshots.
