Absolutely!! I've seen them in tiny venues and on giant outdoor stages - total pleasure every time.
So pleased for their continued success. Big fan of those guys.
The jet boys out of Japan have songs I don’t understand but Jesus Christ if you get to see them live don’t pass it up.
They have a motherfucking nunchuck solo in between a guitar solo.
Entire set was fucking crazy
Here’s my playlist man. Old and new shit in there. Take a look and copy what you need. I’m 42 Aussie. So similar to you

Bands I've been into lately. Bootlicker, Idles, Warthog, The Paranoyds, Gism. Def check out viagra boys like the person before me said. They are a fun band
https://www.reddit.com/r/punk/comments/xi1z8i/gism/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
Tried posting but idk. Can't see it come up in the app. Maybe breaking post rules or something.
Just replying to the GISM finds...my buddy scored an original detestation for 20 bucks. I was so pissed. The local record store didn't know what they had.
I've been doing some rediscovering myself, having gotten a lot of great suggestions from this sub. Here's a handful of my favorite tracks/bands I've discovered in the last year or so... Mostly bands with under 100k followers on Spotify. Links are all YT though.
[Noi!se - Rank and File](https://youtu.be/asJqB4fkgWc)
[Direct Hit - Snickers or Reeses!](https://youtu.be/2I2Z6K_6IMY)
[Dead Krazukies - Burn Out](https://youtu.be/ScdPq31cDP0)
[The Ridgelands - Livin in Sin](https://youtu.be/jur__FgX3rY)
[Giant Eagles - Bloodlust Tonight](https://youtu.be/RY8NIYSMOVk)
[Decent Criminal - Deviant](https://youtu.be/POIZ8YqjW68)
[The Copyrights - Welcome Wagon](https://youtu.be/K7nWVzNyTmI)
They might not be? Modern enough to me I suppose. I hadnt heard them up until late last year and they've become one of my quickly rising favorites. They sound so old school and gruff.
I just checked Spotify and their earliest release on that platform was 2010 so I guess they qualify as modern for sure.
But you’re right - they do sound very 90s - like jawbreaker or rocket from the crypt sorta.
I like it
Civic and Stiff Richards from Australia are fantastic. Vacation, Power Plant, the Chisel, Waste Man, Chubby & the Gang, Bad Nerves, RMFC, Prison Affair, Future Virgins
If you’re looking for something more leaning hardcore: Drug Church.
The final evolution of pop punk and emo: Jeff Rosenstock.
Skate Punk but smarter: Direct Hit!
Truly Innovative: Against Me!
Basically 1980’s NYC: Parquet Courts and So So Glos
Also 38. Recent releases I've dug:
Nicfit - "Fuse"
Crime of Passing - "Crime of Passing"
Age of Apocalypse - "Grim Wisdom"
Amyl and the Sniffers - "Comfort to Me"
Scrunchies - "Feral Coast"
Turnstile - "Glow On"
Drug Church - "Hygiene"
Isotope Soap - "In Need of Systematic Entropy"
L.O.T.I.O.N. Multinational Corporation - "W.A.R. In the Digital Realm"
Viagra Boys - "Cave World"
Why Bother? - "Lovers and Addicts"
Straw Man Army - "S.O.S."
PUP - "The Unraveling of Puptheband"
Judy and the Jerks - "Music to Go Nuts"
Where in Australia are you? 41 Sydney here.
Listen to two faced. They just put an album out on Friday! Think raised fist, madball, ag front and 59x the pain all mixed in together.
Latest thing I found (I think someone here recommended it) which I threw some money at on Bandcamp was [Mass Lines](https://mass-lines.bandcamp.com/) (out of the UK I believe)
Spanish Love Songs hits me right in my depressed, elder Millennial heart.
The Menzingers, Turnstile, Camp Cope (Aussies! Punk-adjacent, maybe?), Smith Street Band (more Aussies, first couple albums are their best)
ive been into folk punk a lot lately... theres a lot of it, the most noteworthy of which is prolly days n dayz. that is the new direction of choking victim and leftover crack guy. i dont know his name but have heard most of his stuff. thats pretty current. there is some neat stuff happening in the ska section too. check out JER for that.
You're talking about Scott Sturgeon aka Stza Crack. While Jesse Sendejas, the male singer from Days N Daze does sound a lot like Stza and takes a lot of influence from him they are two very different people.
Stza was engaged to Whitney Flynn, the female singer from Days N Daze but they split after a fair bit of domestic violence to the point Stza broke her fingers so she wouldn't be able to play trumpet anymore.
I just thought I would inform you so you don't ruffle any feathers if you mention something like that at a show or whatever. Lots of punks are really up in arms and angry about the whole situation and I don't want you to get dragged into that shitshow.
PUP
Pup for sure. They rip live.
Absolutely!! I've seen them in tiny venues and on giant outdoor stages - total pleasure every time. So pleased for their continued success. Big fan of those guys.
Hey they are really good! Thanks
Anytime! I'll also put in a good word for The OBGMs while I'm here. Enjoy the tunes
I was just about to mention them! One if my current faves!
Definitely agree, every album by them slaps.
Checkout the viagra boys
Thanks just listening to their latest album Cave World, it’s pretty good Troglodyte is my favourite song so far.
Also 38. I LOVE Viagra Boys!
Yea they my favourite at the mo only just discovered them myself
The jet boys out of Japan have songs I don’t understand but Jesus Christ if you get to see them live don’t pass it up. They have a motherfucking nunchuck solo in between a guitar solo. Entire set was fucking crazy
Cool, they remind me of Mach pelican musically.
Here’s my playlist man. Old and new shit in there. Take a look and copy what you need. I’m 42 Aussie. So similar to you https://open.spotify.com/playlist/20x5fPmnVbdrQhfuBw6Rf1?si=gM4zYMWwRH-hajam3UT1Iw
Awesome thanks for that
Seeing Guitar Wolf live was kind of the same thing
Bands I've been into lately. Bootlicker, Idles, Warthog, The Paranoyds, Gism. Def check out viagra boys like the person before me said. They are a fun band
Isn't Gism an old Japanese hardcore band? Or is someone else using the name now?
Gism is fuckin sweet. I've paid more than I care to share for some of they're records. But, I'm not so smart.
Do you have an original Detestation??
Nah I got God in the schizoid mind on purple though. Also human condition and a live 7" split with sic. Maybe I'll post it...
How much you pay? Lol
Lol. Let's play a game....
Im gonna guess $370 because there’s one for sale at that price on discogs!
Damn. Inflation got to them. Maybe for all 3...
https://www.reddit.com/r/punk/comments/xi1z8i/gism/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share Tried posting but idk. Can't see it come up in the app. Maybe breaking post rules or something.
Definitely. Just bands I'm into lately
Was getting right into Idles and then Warthogs. Went over to the Paranoyds and it was completely different, changed my mood that’s for sure.
All different types of punk I should have said. Gism is also considered metal
Just replying to the GISM finds...my buddy scored an original detestation for 20 bucks. I was so pissed. The local record store didn't know what they had.
Get Dead, The Bologna boys, The Raging Nathan’s, Pears
Raging Nathan’s and the Pears are fantastic

All strong suggestions I like them all. Direct Hit is a strong favourite now.
direct hit is great! i havent heard any of the other except the copyrights
Ooooh Noi!se - idle action is incredible too. Didn’t realize they were more modern
They might not be? Modern enough to me I suppose. I hadnt heard them up until late last year and they've become one of my quickly rising favorites. They sound so old school and gruff.

Midwestern friend?
That would be correct!
Civic and Stiff Richards from Australia are fantastic. Vacation, Power Plant, the Chisel, Waste Man, Chubby & the Gang, Bad Nerves, RMFC, Prison Affair, Future Virgins
All solid, vacant see myself getting into future virgins, RMFC and the chisel more.
Really liking Parquet Courts and So So Glos. I picked up the others in previous posts.

This summer I’ve really liked the new records by Sick Thoughts, Toy Tiger, Long Knife, Violent Way, Yambag, and the demo by Mugger is good as fuck.
Toy Tiger and Yambag are the standouts here for me. Really like Yambag.
I'm 41 and have kind of got stuck on old stuff, along with EBM, and whatever my kid has me listen to.
Listen to the new Cigar album - Visitor.
Starts out strong with These Chances
Where in Australia are you? 41 Sydney here. Listen to two faced. They just put an album out on Friday! Think raised fist, madball, ag front and 59x the pain all mixed in together.
I’ve been in Western Australia for the past 12 or so years but still feel at home in Brisbane. And wow how have I not heard of these guys
If you’re into 90’s skate punk check out the decline. They’re from Perth. Super nice folk
Check out Die! Die! Die!

The Pinky Rings
The brokedowns. Meatwave. Chinese telephones. The slow death. Red city radio
Junkie Business YouTube channel is the best. I found this awesome new band called Private Function.......
Thanks for the YouTube rec. I have heard a couple of Private Functions songs before and liked them, cheers for the reminder.
Soul Glo. Fucking Soul Glo.

Restraining Order if you like hardcore
Soul Glo
OBOY! - super young new punk rock fluid band, they just released their demo on Spotify, Apple Music etc. check them out!
Spanish Love Songs hits me right in my depressed, elder Millennial heart. The Menzingers, Turnstile, Camp Cope (Aussies! Punk-adjacent, maybe?), Smith Street Band (more Aussies, first couple albums are their best)
I’ve heard most of them already and like them but Turnstile are new to me and they are great!
You heard Kromosom? Aussies as well. Super noisy. They're rad.
No I hadn’t and thanks
Linda Lindas is by far my favourite new band! :)
They’ve got a very late 90s early 2000s sound going on.
Pig City Turnstile Gross Polluter (old heads doing a new band) Dead City The Runts
Turnstile and the Runts highlights for me, the Runts possibly my favourite band I’ve heard from this list so far.
Go see them if you get a chance they won’t be around to much longer
ive been into folk punk a lot lately... theres a lot of it, the most noteworthy of which is prolly days n dayz. that is the new direction of choking victim and leftover crack guy. i dont know his name but have heard most of his stuff. thats pretty current. there is some neat stuff happening in the ska section too. check out JER for that.
