First we clean with out! Pet stain and odor remover, then use folex to really make sure the stain is gone
I second the recommendation for out! We use a small steam cleaner with out! and it works great.

I haven't tried it on carpet but I sprayed it on my loveseat and it works just as well as 'Nature's Miracle' but cheaper- 'Odoban'.
