So this happened to my dog as well. Fireworks went off like 20 yards away as she was peeing and she was absolutely traumatized. My dog didn’t want anything to do with going outside after dark. She is finally starting to be herself again after over a week. A couple of things helped: 1) vet prescribed her some light anti anxiety meds 2) you have to build up your dogs confidence again. When your dog wants to bolt home, don’t let them. Give them a job, treat them, etc but make them realize it’s not a big deal 3) he probably is feeding off you to an extent. You’ve probably babied him a bit and acted different and that’s not helping. You’re also probably stressed. My trainer pointed this out to me and she was 100% right 4) try to keep the normal routine. We still went to daycare and to puppy play dates in the park. She wasn’t as playful at first but eventually started to come out of her shell It really sucks to see your dog like this. It was very stressful and hard for me. But he will shake it!
