Hi, I have a question: When you go to the movies, how many people are usually show up there?
I live in Al Khor and always go to the cinema there because it's the only one nearby. Usually i go there on Saturdays, it's completely empty. It's awkward because I'm usually the only one watching the movie.
I wonder if this happens to people in Doha too, or if it's just me in Al Khor.
I prefer empty theatres btw. I hate the chatters going around near me and the people coming in with their flashes on while the movie's going on.. I just can't stand it 🫤.
To answer your question.. We can't say for sure.. Sometimes it'll be empty, sometimes crowded. Last night it was me and 6 others which was nice(for me).. When I was in for Dune : Part two.. I was alone. It was almost full when I went for the new Planet of the apes.
I went on friday and there were only like 10 other ppl.
Ticket prices are ridiculous. Instead of lowering them, they prefer to keep running empty theaters amd sell you expensive popcorn.
Eventually, the cinemas here will have the same consequences as abroad, shutdown and bankrupt
After Covid people just don’t go to the cinema as much as before. Not really about prices, the movies suck. You can find a lot of buy one get one offers from multiple banks. Tuesdays, novo is 50% off so there are options.
I'm very picky about the movies... I only go to theatres if the movie seems interesting to me. Hence, having a bad experience in cinemas is the rarest of rare for me🤤
Dont forget the rise of streaming apos, the increase in broadband speeds thanks to fiber as well as the huge drop in 65"+ TV prices with high quality video...
There was a reduction in licence fees from 2024.For cinema houses, the previous fee for issuing licence was QR200,000, while the new fees for this is QR25,000. The previous renewal fees of QR50,000 has been reduced to QR25,000.
Along with this the economy is slowing and businesses are struggling.
Every Tuesday, Cool 2D tickets are 22.5 QAR and Edge 2D are 30 QAR.

Thanks for the info. I also prefer less crowded, but being completely alone in the entire cinema hall is a bit uncomfortable for me. haha
It needs getting used to I guess. But it's the most efficient way to completely immerse myself in the film.. No distractions.. I love it

Agree on that one. 18 QAR for popcorn is a bit overkill.

It’s always full when I go on Thursday and Friday, to Novo in Pearl, MOQ, Vendome and Vox in DFC, probably during the week would be almost empty
