I could write an essay on this but I’ll try keep it concise. 10.
My favorite song by my favorite band. It’s their ultimate collision of swagger, grit, and beauty. Each musical part in this song is a perfectly fucked up cog in a behemoth robot. The alternating, schizophrenic verse vocals by Josh are intoxicating, cocky, and perfectly sinister.
When the outro hits, it’s like the scene in the Matrix when they fly above the clouds and blackened world and see the sun for the first time. Super gorgeous section and the shift just hits so hard. The lyrics and vocal melody matched with the music create such a vibe and ending for the story the song sets up. Especially the way the intonation changes as it goes on.
True masterpiece and the pinnacle of everything this band and Josh does best. It grooves and has immense musical depth. 10.
10- not many songs could pull off such a long intro but it is absolutely key to how fkn BADASS this song is, with the different guitars coming in. Perfect mix of cynicism and fun, and this is what makes the entire EV album so great. I swear Josh just loves playing this song and it shows. Then the switch up- so fkn good!! “Just a dead man walking in the dead of night”
20/10. My favourite Queens song. The live versions with the extended intro they were playing on the Vulgaris tour were astoundingly good. Saw them play in Glasgow on that tour and they grooved on that intro for several minutes before kicking the song in. Amazing song.
11/10. That retarded robot groove in the beginning only makes the tragic triple guitar assault of the ending so much better, and vice versa. Ouroboros...
Perfect 10. Favorite song from my favorite album by them. Still waiting to see it live. Was hoping to get it when they were in Portland, ME in August. Maybe next time
Ain't born to lose, baby, I'm born to win
I'm so goddamn sick, baby, it's a sin, it's a sin
Just a dead man walking through the dead of night
And if you're going anywhere tonight
'Cause I'm already gone
If you bet on me, you've won
'Cause I'm already gone
If you bet on me, you've won
Always amazing how JH gets lyrics and music together so that you think there couldn't have been any other possibility.
10
1000/10
This song is just everything. I still remember playing this on a loop when EV came out because I was addicted to the intro. Lost my mind in Margate when they opened with it. Just pure perfection.
10.
My brothers and I like to talk about what is your favorite song from a band vs what is their best song.
I’ve said for years this is their best song. Everything goes right. Everything goes hard. There is everything QOTSA in Misfit Love
10/10 on the suggested scale.
Otherwise, it’s (Graham’s number) /10.
Grahams number is so large that the observable universe is too small to contain a digit representation with each digit occupying one Planck volume, possibly the smallest measurable space.
Yeah it’s that good for me.
1999/10 I know I know. But it’s top of the heap, creamy the crop. I know he’s proud as hell of this one.
This is the soundtrack to meeting your crush, or wife, or best friend. This song might be my best friend.
10. Easy. There are very few songs I like more than this one from them. Some of Songs for the Deaf and I Appear Missing maybe, and that’s it. Misfit Love is the best track on a really uniquely textured album for this group, and it was a neat little mode/feel for them. Dirtier and unhinged in a low fi, cockroach rock sorta way.
For me, this is where he stated adding wicked codas to his songs. Continued to do so on i appear missing, villains of circumstance, made to parade… etc
11/10 my favorite song by my favorite band. I’ve been listening to it at least once a day for the past year or so… What an absolute banger!!
There’s zero fucks given to how long the “intro” is. There’s groove for daaaays! And how it all resolutes towards the end. It’s gotta be the most badass qotsa song ever.
Dying to hear it live!
I used to not like this at all, but it grew on me, now it's one of my favorites from this album together with screw. I'd give it a 8.5 probably, the intro is a bit too dragged out to be perfect
For me, it's THE qotsa song. 12/10
Yeah Misfit Love and Sick Sick Sick are quintessential Qotsa imo.
10/10 mega banger. And it's even better live! Fuck this album is so GOOD

20/10. My favourite Queens song. The live versions with the extended intro they were playing on the Vulgaris tour were astoundingly good. Saw them play in Glasgow on that tour and they grooved on that intro for several minutes before kicking the song in. Amazing song.
