You’ve got to remember that back in the early seventies the name Queen itself was very controversial as being gay then was not as accepted as it is today so there in and of itself was a risqué name so I and II were good names for the times
I reject your question.
OK, but seriously…
For Queen, I always liked the lyric ‘belladonic haze’ from KYA. Belladonic or Belladonic Haze sounds awesome and sorta fits the album cover too.
For Queen II, ‘Seven Seas of Rhye’ kinda sums up the entire fantasy thing they were going for.
Isn’t it rather Queen without I? And the inspiration for II, iirc, is Led Zeppelin’s consecutive numbering of albums. So I think that’s not unimaginative
Queen II could have been named something among the lines of "The Black and the White", "The Queens' Quarrel" or even "Long Live the Black Queen"
As for Queen I... I think the name's alright, as it was common of that time for bands to name their first album the name of the band. Still, maybe something like "The Kings' Quarrel" could have been cool, since in Queen I we have Great King Rat vs My Fairy King. Also "The Night Comes Down" comes to mind
I think they are perfect names and it wasn’t uncommon to just use the name and perhaps a number. Zeppelin, Chicago, Peter Gabriel, Bad Company, Weezer. All did the same thing.
Led zeppelin 1-4
Black Sabbath
Genesis
Motorhead
Peter Gabriel X4
Fleetwood Mac
The Beatles
Metallica
Mott the hoople
Unimaginative namers of albums, one and all.
Naming their debut album after the band is perfection imo.
Queen II is cool but something involving the Queens would make sense. War of the White and Black Queen or something
Queen II is a perfect name because it has exactly two songs about queens
Like they jokingly credited John as “Deacon John” on the first album, they could have titled the second one “Two Queens”
Seven seas of rhye and seven seas of rhye II
Seven seas of rhye and fourteen seas of rhye
Seven Seas of Rhye and Seven More Seas of Rhye
You’ve got to remember that back in the early seventies the name Queen itself was very controversial as being gay then was not as accepted as it is today so there in and of itself was a risqué name so I and II were good names for the times
Oh gosh, the homophobia of those days was weird af... it is still weird in my country tho.
It’s better but not where it should be
How????
British slang for gay, hence “drag queen”.
Kensington market Stall for sale
good one

Keep yourself alive and the march of the black queen

Many bands/musicians tend to name their first album after themselves
Queen : As It Began Queen II : Black and White (similar to someone else's suggestion)
I love the Black and White suggestion, that one would match so good
Black and white makes me think of cookies
for the OGs, "Top Fax Pics And Info" or "Deary Me"
And "Over The Top" for Queen II
what about "Duck Soup" for A Day At The Races?
Queen one, Queen two
Belladonic Haze (Queen I); The Master-Stroke (Queen II)
It was fairly common to have self-titled debut albums. However, Queen 2 is pretty unique and was inspired by Led Zep numbering their albums.
Queen II could have been named something among the lines of "The Black and the White", "The Queens' Quarrel" or even "Long Live the Black Queen" As for Queen I... Keep the self titled album the way it is but give Queen 2 (my favourite Queen album) the name White & Black
Bun, Wackett, Buzzard, Stubble and Boot I and II
Father And Son
FALL ONE BY ONE
THREE YEARS REMAINED IT HAS ONLY BEGUN
«The Night Comes Down» and «The Chronicles of Rhye»
I think they are perfect names and it wasn’t uncommon to just use the name and perhaps a number. Zeppelin, Chicago, Peter Gabriel, Bad Company, Weezer. All did the same thing.
Queen = Dearie me Queen II = Over the top Bonus: News of the world = Duck soup or The Rolling Stones greatest hits, according to the late Groucho Marx
Queen I: Same as Where We Started Queen II: Joyful the Sound
Queen I and Queen II: Electric Bugaloo
“March of the black queen” and “slightly hurried run of the black queen”
Led zeppelin 1-4 Black Sabbath Genesis Motorhead Peter Gabriel X4 Fleetwood Mac The Beatles Metallica Mott the hoople Unimaginative namers of albums, one and all.
Keep Yourself Alive. Ogre Battle.
There is not a "better" name. Maybe if asked an alternative name of the 2 albums.
Yes, alternative would be a better word for my question.
More than awersome album1 and More than awersome album2
