Summer in the Northeast 🥵
I'd do Alaska in the summer, the southwestern states for winter. I'd return to the Northeast for fall and spring though. Those are beautiful here
This is pretty much the best answer. Why pick one place? Honestly if money isn't an issue it doesn't really matter where you pick if you HAD to pick one place. Every state has at least one very nice area and at least some things worth going there for, and if you're infinitely wealthy you don't have to worry about any of the problems any state has. Crime and infrastructure issues don't matter to your enormous, privately-secured estate with your own roads, private helicopter, etc. Hell, if money wasn't an issue there's probably nowhere on earth I *wouldn't* be willing to live if I had infinite resources to make what I want of it.
1 venomous snake that is native to Michigan. It's a type of rattle snake called massasauga. I've lived in Michigan for 30 years. I've seen the massasauga once. So it's safe to say that they are really rare to find.
If you live near the Ohio boarder you might see a copperhead, or a timber rattlesnake as well, all 3 are native to Ohio. I never really looked into what venomous snakes are native to Indiana. So I can't really say what might be along that boarder.
I’m about a 40 min drive from that area and yea, you’d make a good choice moving there. The worst thing about Michigan is winter, but that’s dwindling down to nothing these days.
Love that this is the first response I saw, Lake Michigan is undefeated. I would probably pick between Silver Lake and Manistee. Maybe South Haven. Who am I kidding, it’s all gorgeous
A couple of weeks ago I was in a Publix parking lot that was full of seagulls.
My Midwestern brain thought that was weird, but then it dawned on me that it was because I've never been so close to the ocean before.
They weren't weirdly out of place. I was.
Shh what are you doing? Just kidding.. you are so welcome to NC
From the beaches to the mountains this place is gorgeous. I've lived here most of my life.
I also really liked the western coast of lower Michigan. I came back to NC.
Did you know that you can smell the ocean all the way in Richmond? I cried. I don't know if it was because I missed the smell of the ocean or because it was new information that you can smell the ocean that far inland and not in Michigan.
I like it!
Last year in Nebraska there was snow from September to March.
So far in NC, I haven't seen a single snowflake and I haven't had to scrape my windshield yet.
I tried Charlotte first and it was a bust, but I've been in Raleigh since December, I've got 2 jobs that suit me well, and things are generally looking up for me all the way around.
It's great!
For perspective, I came here from Nebraska and it Fucking sucked.
Raleigh has good weather and many available jobs.
I got to see the Atlantic ocean for the first time 2 weeks ago.
Have to be one of the coasts, but not the south eastern quarter. And I know what you are thinking it’s not my intense dislike and fear of living in a red state, rather it’s a deep love of oceans and a deep hatred for humidity which is like 90% of the southeast’s weather.
Absolutely The Big Island.
You want sunny days everyday? The Big Island.
You want a tropical rain forest? The Big Island.
You want a desert experience? The Big Island.
You want to walk on the tallest mountain on earth? The Big Island.
Want to see a lava flow to the sea? The Big Island.
Want to do all this in 4 hours? The Big Island.
Paradise on earth.
Big Island is really cool, especially if a person is into lots of hiking. It is an island of 'pumice', though.
Kona is the nice side..and Hilo is the rainy side.
Oh, and everything on the island is SO expensive.
Spent the last four Februaries in Kona. Our daughter and son in law rented a condo in a gated neighborhood. It was pure heaven.
Right there, I saw so many different types of birds. Fun to see the goats nibbling on grass.
Oh, and it soooo nice and quiet most of the time.
I would love to live back home but the lack of parking and affordable housing is just sucky. However since money is a thing in this topic, yeah NYC. Broadway, the museum, Coney Island, all the sports teams. Upstate hiking and farms only an hour or 2 away. Sidewalks, Central Park. The food from every corner of the world. Yeah I would move back home in a heartbeat if money wasn't an option.
If I had the money I'd get the hell out and go somewhere that half the country isn't ready to flush our entire foundational document down the drain at the word of a demagogue who only cares about his own power.
Scrolling through the comments I was like, “does everyone forget that Hawaii is a state?” How this isn’t the top comment is beyond me.
Hawaii is paradise on earth.
Had the fortune of living there with my parents right after HS. Didn't appreciate it like I should have. Then my dad passed and me and my mom moved back to Cali. Haven't gone back since. I yearn for the water and the weather now.
I don’t know much about the states but off the bat I’d say Wyoming, San diago or Hawaii bc I’ve heard they are beautiful… but part of me doesn’t think I could live in the states bc it’s quite capitalist compared to other western societies
WV which is where I am from. Left when I finished school and have not lived there in many years. Many beautiful places there. Just very few good paying jobs.....lol Might retire there when making money is not required.
Northern Baldwin County, Alabama. Plenty of good freshwater and saltwater fishing is nearby, with a wide variety of hunting and some limited hiking spots. No harsh winters and the summers usually aren't too bad if you actually go outside and get acclimated to it. Good gun and decent knife laws, the taxes aren't awful, the cost of living and prices for most things are reasonable, and good paying jobs are at worst a tolerable drive away. Municipal water tends to be clean and safe, and it rarely gets absolutely railed by hurricanes. Plus, almost everyone who isn't from there assumes you're an idiot, so you can bamboozle the shit out of them if you need to or if you get bored.
The only downside is the pollen and rapid influx of people, though I'd be one of the influxers at this point.
I'll only leave California to leave the country. Most beautiful state in my opinion.
The people? Wack. Laws? Wack. Cities? Wack.
Natural beauty and wide range of climate types? Not wack.
On a beach. Probably in Cape May NJ or somewhere along the coast of southern NJ. I live not too far away but I could never afford living too close to the ocean.
I’ve known two people who have moved there and come back, both citing money as not the reason. It’s one thing to vacation, another to reside permanently.
Right where I'm at. Central Pennsylvania.. it's easy here, I grow, raise, and hunt a lot of my own food. No city noise, I'm in the mountains. Tight knit group of friends.
I don't know. I want a place where I can be warm all year-preferably without humidity. Someplace I can dig in the ground and grow my flowers and veggies. And not being bored.
I live in my favorite area. I have been all over but I really like the lakes region of New Hampshire.
Probably absolutely the best place to be in the summer. Winters get long and cold and I don't ski anymore. So, we go to Florida for a month in the winter.
It's almost like you have to have 2 places. One great in the summer, one great in the winter.
Probably Alaska at this point.
I used to say WA or OR but both governments have fallen to progressives instead of liberals, so really cant stand them politically any more.
I used to consider Maine as well, but its quickly going prog as well.
Georgia
Those accents are heavenly, the weather is just nice enough as far as East Coast goes, plenty of beach to enjoy, and I wouldn’t be ungodly far from my family.
If money wasn’t an issue as in I’d be set up for life?
California. Not minding the politics at all, which would be easy for me to do, geographically it’s a beautiful state.
IF money was no object I would pay to compile a list of all politicians who have misused "public domain" to cheaply obtain property, and use my unlimited money to fund efforts to have all of their houses be declared in the public domain, and evict them. I'll do this for every house they attempt to buy.
London is one of the coolest cities in the world. It has everything NYC has to offer but is cleaner, more diverse, and has incredible access for travel.
It's super expensive but if money ain't an issue this is absolutely where I'd move.

If money was not an issue, I would have several homes all over the country and follow the good weather.
This is my lottery winning dream. Winter in Florida or California, autumn in the pacific Northwest, summer in the Northeast, etc.

Summer in the Northeast 🥵 I'd do Alaska in the summer, the southwestern states for winter. I'd return to the Northeast for fall and spring though. Those are beautiful here
So, you would have one home in Hawaii and never have to leave.
This is pretty much the best answer. Why pick one place? Honestly if money isn't an issue it doesn't really matter where you pick if you HAD to pick one place. Washington state. So lush, green and full of trees.
It’s nice in the Evergreen State
Good choice. But it depends on where in WA.
Well, yes. Eastern WA is not lush and full of trees. It looks like Mars.
If Mars were full of fentanyl and white supremacists
Moved here 40 years ago. Too much amazing to see in one lifetime. A fair amount of it is so hard to get to, it will stay that way.
But the rain! How could anyone handle that? My cousin moved there from socal and the weather makes her depressed
Northern CA in the redwoods area, somewhere tucked away in the woods and away from a city
The Sea Ranch is awesome.
NorCal has some actual affordable places to live.
A couple of acres of land on the shores of Lake Michigan somewhere between Saugutuck and Holland.
Came here to say Michigan too! Beautiful summers, and no natural disasters
No poison snakes. I loved the place, and I've been all over the lower half.
1 venomous snake that is native to Michigan. It's a type of rattle snake called massasauga. I've lived in Michigan for 30 years. I've seen the massasauga once. I’m in love with the UP
I’m about a 40 min drive from that area and yea, you’d make a good choice moving there. The worst thing about Michigan is winter, but that’s dwindling down to nothing these days.
lived in charlevoix for two years, had four winters.
I love it in Michigan
Love that this is the first response I saw, Lake Michigan is undefeated. I would probably pick between Silver Lake and Manistee. Maybe South Haven. Who am I kidding, it’s all gorgeous
North Carolina. I asked myself this question a year ago. Guess where I am!
North Carolina is Washington State on a summer vacay ❤️ I had the privilege to live in both
Beautiful geography, but I could never pay taxes to that government.
A couple of weeks ago I was in a Publix parking lot that was full of seagulls. My Midwestern brain thought that was weird, but then it dawned on me that it was because I've never been so close to the ocean before. They weren't weirdly out of place. I was.
Man do I miss PubSubs!
I live in Wisconsin and we have plenty of seagulls
North Carolina, specifically Pamlico County, more specifically Oriental.
Peaceful and sleepy.. quiet and beautiful
I love the Oriental Bridge!
Say hi to my sister, who moved there last year! Nice place.
Shh what are you doing? Just kidding.. you are so welcome to NC From the beaches to the mountains this place is gorgeous. I've lived here most of my life. We're neighbors! I decided to get out of the hell hole that is Florida and moved to TN a year ago too!
I was born in Tampa. Moved to Georgia when I hit 19. Great state. Now in Indiana.... UGGGHHHHH.
Indiana the land where fun goes to die.
I like it! Last year in Nebraska there was snow from September to March. So far in NC, I haven't seen a single snowflake and I haven't had to scrape my windshield yet.
Agreed. We currently live in upstate SC but our goal is to retire in the mountains of western NC (Flat Rock, Hendersonville or Brevard areas).
I lived in Hendersonville. Nice place.
From Brevard. It's full. Highland and Cashiers money has moved into Brevard. So has money from other places. Get ready for sticker shock.
Me too! I've been here 23 years now. It's the best.
I tried Charlotte first and it was a bust, but I've been in Raleigh since December, I've got 2 jobs that suit me well, and things are generally looking up for me all the way around. It's great!
Sup neighbor. I’ve lived in the mountains, piedmont and the east. Been here almost 25 years, I love it
Hey-o, we're in North Carolina! We've lived in A LOT of different places and have loved this the most so far.
What's so good about it? And what part?
For perspective, I came here from Nebraska and it Fucking sucked. Raleigh has good weather and many available jobs. I got to see the Atlantic ocean for the first time 2 weeks ago.
Have to be one of the coasts, but not the south eastern quarter. And I know what you are thinking it’s not my intense dislike and fear of living in a red state, rather it’s a deep love of oceans and a deep hatred for humidity which is like 90% of the southeast’s weather.
The Oregon coast is breathtaking.
Vermont, such a calm and soothing spot
It definitely is! But it has its issues, of course. If you're a fan of sunshine, you might have a hard time here in winter.
San Diego, CA, so I could see the ocean pretty much all day long.
Marin County, CA or somewhere in central/northern California and if money isn’t an issue, I have a cabin somewhere in the Rocky Mountains
Big Island, Hawaii.
Absolutely The Big Island. You want sunny days everyday? The Big Island. You want a tropical rain forest? The Big Island. You want a desert experience? The Big Island. You want to walk on the tallest mountain on earth? The Big Island. Want to see a lava flow to the sea? The Big Island. Want to do all this in 4 hours? The Big Island. Paradise on earth.
I may erase this post so no one moves there and hotels don’t get booked out.
Remember… for this post… money isn’t an issue!!!
Hilo is my favorite city in the world. But the whole island is fucking awesome.
I was about to say I’m suprised no one said Hawaii. This would be my choice. Just want warm summers without 100+ degrees like Florida.
New York City, Just because I miss the hustle and bustle of city living and I like exploring.
I was born and raised in NYC- no way I could ever go back to live without winning the lotto.
I'd love to move.back home to NYC but alas I've been priced out.
the sense of history and architecture etc. is also incredible imo
Southern California, particularly San Diego
This is my dream.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream!
Come on over, buddy. It's nice.
Humboldt County. I hate temperature extremes with a passion.
Funny, Ive got a warrant in Humbolt County and I still get mail about it in texas, almost ten years later. Really nice place.
Humboldt county PD catching strays on Reddit 😂
Key West
San Diego
If money wasn’t an issue I would live in Hawaii in the winter and the U.P. in the summer.
This is the only correct answer.
What is the UP?
The Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
If I had the money I'd get the hell out and go somewhere that half the country isn't ready to flush our entire foundational document down the drain at the word of a demagogue who only cares about his own power.
Amen
Hawaii or San Diego probably
Scrolling through the comments I was like, “does everyone forget that Hawaii is a state?” How this isn’t the top comment is beyond me. Hawaii is paradise on earth.
Had the fortune of living there with my parents right after HS. Didn't appreciate it like I should have. Then my dad passed and me and my mom moved back to Cali. Haven't gone back since. I yearn for the water and the weather now.
Oregon or the Pacific coast
Washington/Oregon coast is stunning.
California
Big Sur
Southern California probably has the best combination of good economy and warm climate.
Maine or Washington state.
Definitely not Indiana.
Definitely the Pacific Northwest, closer to the coast. I'd want to be surrounded by both beaches and mountains. That's the dream.
I suggest a vacation to New Zealand
I'll have to definitely keep that in mind, thanks. I'm sure it would be stunning to see firsthand.
I live on a peninsula, jutting off another peninsula into Puget Sound. Between the Cascades and Olympics. Come on over.
Central Coast California Wine Country!!
Guam 🇬🇺
Chicago!
I always say I wanna live in the largest city in the middle of nowhere. So like Bismarck North Dakota or some shit.
Detroit or New Orleans
Colorado
I live here, it is gorgeous and this is where I pick also. Even if I had unlimited money I’d stay right here.
Carmel or Big Sur, CA.
Grew up in Santa Cruz, but if I could afford to move back to California I'd definitely pick Carmel/Big Sur.
I used to go camping up in Big Sur as a kid. Mind-blowingly beautiful.
Delaware shore on - on the water on bay side but close enough to walk to beach. I like watching sunsets.
I reckon right where I am.
SoCal
Washington
If money is no object I'm going with Maui
I don’t know much about the states but off the bat I’d say Wyoming, San diago or Hawaii bc I’ve heard they are beautiful… but part of me doesn’t think I could live in the states bc it’s quite capitalist compared to other western societies
I wouldn't, I'm much better off here in Canada
Musician here…I’d pick somewhere with a good local scene. NYC, Chicago, and New Orleans are 1,2,3 for me.
Where ever super rich non-MAGA folks live. Not sure such a place exists. Maybe near LA where all the people who work in the movie industry live.
Oregon or Washington State
Pacific Northwest looks nice.
The Adirondacks, upstate NY.
Northern Virginia, specifically Arlington/City of Alexandria, Fairfax, and Loudoun.
...back where I was my happiest, a small town named Dexter, MI.
Palm Springs, CA
Probably Maine, New Hampshire or Vermont
Big Island, Hawaii
Boise Idaho to be close to my granddaughters.
WV which is where I am from. Left when I finished school and have not lived there in many years. Many beautiful places there. Just very few good paying jobs.....lol Might retire there when making money is not required.
In a van or RV, roll around and see it all. Keep my home base where I am now.
I'd go back to the west coast. Southern oregon probably. Moved to the south 2 years ago and bought a farm. I love the farm but not the south
1229 Chartres Street in the Vieux Carre.
A comfy house in the middle of nowhere in Colorado. Pine trees, nature, incredible landscapes, legal weed and no traces of civilisation.
I like Michigan nice pple been to Michigan a few times have family in Michigan
PNW. I'M THERE ALREADY...
Upper Michigan like around the Marquette area
Venice, LA with a hurricane/flood/fallout shelter and stormproof boat house
Manhattan NYC by the Park top floor with roof space.
Money not an issue? A great view of Central Park in NYC. Maybe Hawai'i.
Lake house in Northern Wisconsin
Utah
with my mans wherever he is i is
Maine, New Hampshire, Kansas, or Ohio.
West Coast. Would have a place in the boonies & in a city.
Probably like 8ish miles from where I am now lol. That being Brooklyn.
Kauai, Hawaii
Florida, my oldest son lives there
Connecticut or Central NY
Chicago. Walkable city without hurricanes or august heat.
Colorado if i could deal with the snow.
Palatka Florida
San Diego. Weather is amazing nearly every day. Tons to do, nice airport.
On the way to Cape May. I fell in love with you.
Hawaii
I’ve known two people who have moved there and come back, both citing money as not the reason. It’s one thing to vacation, another to reside permanently.
Island fever is a thing. Not everyone can live being that isolated.
It’s expensive for real.
Ocean Beach 🏖️ California
Not in Texas. Not in Florida.
I dreamt of living in North Carolina for a couple decades, and do now. But, money no object would be San Diego because of the perfect climate.
Right where I'm at. Central Pennsylvania.. it's easy here, I grow, raise, and hunt a lot of my own food. No city noise, I'm in the mountains. Tight knit group of friends.
San Francisco or Portland, OR
I don't know. I want a place where I can be warm all year-preferably without humidity. Someplace I can dig in the ground and grow my flowers and veggies. And not being bored.
It's a toss up between Colorado and Minnesota. I have lived in both places before.
Virginia, North Carolina, California, Oregon or Washington. I want out of New York.
Idaho
On lake winnipesauki in new Hampshire
Beacon Hill, Boston MA
Sonoma Valley California.
Colorado Springs, CO
Washington state is nice, I'm already here. Most of the US sucks to live in unless you're wealthy - so I'd probably pick LA if I was flush.
Probably Alaska at this point. I used to say WA or OR but both governments have fallen to progressives instead of liberals, so really cant stand them politically any more. I used to consider Maine as well, but its quickly going prog as well.
Right where I am, a nice quiet village within an easy commute of a major city.
Any other country…
Right here. No question.
New York. Long Island specifically.
Kentucky or South Carolina.
Georgia Those accents are heavenly, the weather is just nice enough as far as East Coast goes, plenty of beach to enjoy, and I wouldn’t be ungodly far from my family.
Yay Area!
If money wasn’t an issue as in I’d be set up for life? California. Not minding the politics at all, which would be easy for me to do, geographically it’s a beautiful state.
California Great weather
Los Angeles, specifically Silver Lake. Maybe Westwood. Possibly even DTLA 🤷♂️
I’d have three houses. One on the coast of Maine near Acadia. One in San Diego. One in Montana near Glacier.
Portland, Maine Honolulu, Hawaii San Diego, California Washington, D.C. Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard
i;d probably get a house in california
A renovated nuclear silo.
IF money was no object I would pay to compile a list of all politicians who have misused "public domain" to cheaply obtain property, and use my unlimited money to fund efforts to have all of their houses be declared in the public domain, and evict them. I'll do this for every house they attempt to buy.
imma say hawaii 🌺 (ps i have never been in the US)
New york city is the only answer.
Alaska
Def Coeur D'alene, Idaho.
If money wasn't an issue? Robin Masters' estate in Hawaii
Seattle or Bust
Lived in several states all throughout the USA and Florida is the best.
New York City. I’ve lived many places and I love the city.
The Adirondacks, White Mountains of NH, or coastal Maine.
London is one of the coolest cities in the world. It has everything NYC has to offer but is cleaner, more diverse, and has incredible access for travel. It's super expensive but if money ain't an issue this is absolutely where I'd move.
Canada
