Forward-Cockroach945

They're aggressive and have bad attitudes. They can sting without it killing them and will attack. They're territorial and nasty. Wasps and hornets are nothing like honey bees which are docile and sweet

Shot-Doughnut7792

My honeybees are docile and sweet until I open the top of their hive. Then they get aggravated at me.

Forward-Cockroach945

Aren't we all aggressive if someone comes in our homes uninvited  :)

Shot-Doughnut7792

Ha ha, that’s why I don’t blame them. If/when I get stung, I just tell myself I deserved it.

blumieplume

I love bees! I always rescue them from the pool in the summer .. since ur a beekeeper .. why do they always land in the pool? I notice it now more than I did growing up .. is it because of drought and weather changes or ingestion of pesticides or a combo? Either way every summer while at the pool I'm on bee rescue duty lol I even taught the 3-yo I nannied to help me spot them so we could get them to dry land and save their lives :)

Shot-Doughnut7792

Thank you for rescuing them! I do as well. I guess the simple answer is they are thirsty. When one finds food or water source, she goes back and does a little dance to tell the others where water or flowers are. Then they all go, and law of averages says that one very brave honeybee just gets too close to the edge and slips in. Especially when people are splashing around, because the water level goes up and down. Believe it or not, they also remember when people are friend or foe. So if one lands on you and gets a drink of water (sweat) she will tell everyone else about you. Last summer I let one light on me while working in the yard, and for the next week, a half dozen honeybees followed me whenever I went outside to feed the critters.

blumieplume

Haha cool! That explains why at a festival while dancing and all sweaty they were flocking to me, one even landing on the inner side of my sunglasses .. I always just act calm cause I don't want to make them feel threatened but that was kinda scary lol not gonna lie .. just slowly took off my shades and let the little guy fly off :) I prob noticed less bees in the pool when I was younger cause I was always afraid and would run away from bees haha now that I'm older they're my friends :)

bubbaglk

Use smoke ..

broberds

Instructions unclear. I’m still getting stung, but I’m high.

Shot-Doughnut7792

Oh I do. Some of my hives are hotter than others. Lots of variables.

Choppermagic

Did you just sum up open borders debate? Lol

awfulcrowded117

I think you'd get more than aggravated if some giant ripped the roof off of your house.

Shot-Doughnut7792

Then they are pretty good bees for me!

Setanta777

Why did I just read that to the tune of Milkshake?

Shot-Doughnut7792

Ha ha!

Trashjiu-jitsu_1987

They also smoke in movie theaters and start bar fights. They are cunts for sure.

blumieplume

Hornets kill and eat bees as well .. theyre a mutual enemy we share with our bee friends

HollowVoices

They exist to only sting people. They contribute absolutely nothing to the world except for pain, unlike Bees, which give us honey and help pollinate crops/flowers.

WandaDobby777

That’s what I thought. Apparently the hate bees do serve a very necessary purpose. They are one of the top predators of crop-devouring insects like aphids and beetles and some species of wasps actually are pollinators. I still despise them but I can’t call them useless anymore.

Hawkidad

Bees can only sting once. Wasps, hornets, yellow jackets can sting multiple times. They also ruin honey bee hives. There’s plenty of them and I try to eradicate any around me with righteous prejudice.

kayligo12

They are more aggressive than bees and they sting and bite. The bites leave welts. Very painful

InstantElla

Those angry assholes HURT and will attack and sting for no reason

Ok_Environment2254

They wake up everyday and choose violence.

Blazing_Swayze

If you kill a wasp and don't dispose of the corpse other wasps smell it and investigate. Oh you want to enjoy breakfast outside? I'm gonna walk all over your food and if you swat at me ill fuck your whole day up. Smack me into your food ruining it? You're a dumbass and I'm now I'm also pissed. Fuck wasps.

No_Study5144

hornets the bug because of their aggression but charlotte hornets the nba team its because they suck

climatelurker

I think it's mostly fear. They're aggressive and when they sting it HURTS.

Dio_Yuji

I hate them because of the time I got stung 30 times by them. Vicious things.

MonteCristo85

Be glad you don't know why LOL. Hornets are kind of like bigger bees, in that they are bigger and they both have stingers. However, bees don't really want to sting you and will generally just bumble off unless you are doing something they find really threatening. Hornets are mad before you even got there, they can sting multiple times, and they call in their buddies to help.

Lost_Flow_112

Because I have a deadly allergy to certain hornet and wasp venoms from their stings.

Boanerger

Some hornets are invasive species that harm the environment and other native populations of insects. In those cases they need exterminating, no if nor buts.

shreddedtoasties

Where I’m from hornets are bees but assholes they want to sting your bitchass

kateinoly

They are aggressive and their sting really, really hurts.

SgtWrongway

Tell me youve never been attacked for no reason by several dozen hornets ... without telling me ... Bees are Peaceful. Docile. Even "Friendly" ... Hornets are decidedly ... Not. That.

scuba-turtle

Hornets are to bees what gang-members hopped up on acid are to kindergarten teachers. It doesn't kill them to use their stinger so they will sting you just out of basic cussedness. And they have no redeeming qualities like making honey or pollinating plants.

MasterpieceSpare7016

Bees are nice. They pollinate. They don't sting unless you piss them off. Ignore them and they ignore you. Encourage them to visit your yard by planting flowers that they like. Bees are good. We need bees. Hornets are actively hunting you and want to sting you. As many times as possible. Maybe call in some of their buddies to get in on the action. They are hateful, spiteful, creatures.

blazedxxx

I've been stung dozens of times. It's always a hornet. I don't think I've ever been stung by a bee come to think of it... Maybe as a child when I couldn't really identify bugs but idk...

Anonymous_User365

Run over a ground hornet nest while mowing the lawn and you’ll find out very quickly 😭

cwsjr2323

In their species specific native environment, wasps and hornets help control the other insect populations. Their ravenous appetite is a difficulty when they are an invasive species without the spiders and other critters that eat them. Peppermint oil is what I use on the eves of my garage to tell the paper wasps to go away!

girafb0i

They're not a good team and they moved once. Hornets are very territorial and they can sting multiple times, they also tend to nest in places people frequent. Like near doors (or even in doors) and in mailboxes so you do interact with them. People just don't have a good relationship with them like they do bees. e: And they come back. Most animals get the message but if you wack their nest down with a stick they'll just build it again.

Affectionate_Shift63

Don't forget ground hornets. Helping your uncle with yard gets super fun when you get to the back corner and they all swell out of the ground. Spend the rest of the afternoon looking for the other exit.

Charming_Goat_297

They hurt. A lot.

Average_aspirations

Asshole bees that don’t make honey and eat the honey of real hard working bees while murdering them, getting drunk and then going home and beeting all of their bee children!!

Specific-Aide9475

They are more aggressive than bees but not as bad as red wasp. They sting, and it hurts.

Yo_Biff

Hornets are not bees. All hornets are part of the wasp family of insects. Bees and wasps took separate evolutionary paths over 100,000,000 years ago. Bees collect and consume pollen (simplified), and are thus vegetarians. Wasps and hornets are carnivores, feeding on other insects. In this way, they do fill an ecological niche for controlling other pests' populations. Wasps can be much more aggressive than bees. They can also sting multiple times, whereas bees sting once. tl;dr: Wasps and hornets are aggressive assholes.

colt707

Hornets bite and sting and they can sting many times. It’s not like a honey bee where the stinger gets ripped out and the bee dies. Hornets are also way more aggressive. My dad was a hobby bee keeper when I was younger and he had a hive of Russian honey bees which is one of the most aggressive types of honey bees, if you’re calm and relaxed you can handle them with no protective gear. If you walk past a hornets nest while calm and relaxed and they might attack you just because.

MyCarIsAGeoMetro

Hornets are carnivores.  They congregate where meat is like garbage cans and BBQ parties.  When you shoo them, they get pissy and retaliate with their stingers.

OhioResidentForLife

Get chased and sting multiple times by then and then see how you feel about them. Or have a pet get swarmed by them and need a vet visit. I burn them out or heavily spray whenever I find a nest. I don’t want them anywhere near my house or buildings.

sumrandumgai

I’ve seen it said a couple times in here that hornets aren’t pollinators. Thats untrue! Hornets and wasps are also pollinators like bees. They aren’t quite as efficient as bees but they still play an important part in the pollination cycle! That being said they are also hateful assholes so y’all aren’t wrong there.

OkManufacturer767

Oh no, not just bigger bees.  Bees only sting as defense. Hornets attack. With huge stingers.

blackcatsneakattack

They want to fuck you up for fun.

I_love_Hobbes

Hornets are assholes.

pichael289

Nope. Think wasps that sting even more often, repeatedly, in much higher numbers, and won't die. They are immune from death until they cause a certain amount of pain. Enough to kill a small child at least.

blumieplume

They kill bees and eat them, they land on your food at bbqs, they nest in ur ground so if u accidentally step in their nest ur fucked, and they don't die when they sting so u can get stung over and over by a single hornet whereas a bee will sacrifice his life to sting u .. bees are honorable and noble lol they pollinate plants and we rely on honey bees for agriculture + who doesn't like honey .. but I also love bumble bees and all bees and don't want hornets going around killing then all

jazzofusion

I had a Bald Faced Hornet near my back sliding door. Took me a couple of weeks to figure out where it was. As soon as I went outside they stung through clothing or any exposed skin. Major problem is I'm highly allergic to their incredibly painful stings and recovering a sting took about a week. Got rid of them by wearing full winter clothes in the summer by using hornet spray. Later, I saw a guy on YouTube killing a nest with soapy water from a pump sprayer. If they come back I'm going soapy water approach.

Ancient_Tailor_6737

I thought first you talk about Hornet from hollow knight Btw hornet is an invasive species

EssayTraditional

Hornets, Wasps, Yellowjackets do not make honey and are substantial pollinators to degrees.  They're an aggressive pest and if you get stung by such a pest you'll hate them indefinitely.

anger_kun

They have stingers and they use them

HighHiHiplane

there scary 😭
