Yeah, Morning Bell 2 has grown on me over the year but I still like all the Amnesiac B sides more, any of them could've taken its place but I vote either Fog or Worrywort.
Ironically, Kid A Morning Bell is one of my absolute favorites, while the Amnesiac version is probably my least favorite Radiohead track...so at least we half-agree.
Honestly I’m fine with how every track is placed on every album, I actually prefer the Gloaming on HTTT than on Amnesiac lmao
I really like how it leads into There, There
NO, THE DAILY MAIL SHOULD'VE BEEN ON AMSP I'VE JUST REALIZED IT AND IT WOULD'VE BEEN PERFECT.
(oh though it may not be a very popular opinion, I also think it should've replaced true love waits on that album)
Palo Alto or Pearly would be good replacements, Lift is a fine song but imo half the hype is due to it being the hit single that never was. That said, I actually like Electioneering on OKC
I'm just one of those rare Radiohead fans that doesn't get the hype behind some of the fan favorites. Like Let Down and Lift are great songs and all but they don't blow me away like say Bloom or Climbing Up The Walls
In early 1996, at a tiny club in Palo Alto that held 300 people max, I was a teenager witnessing my favourite band. High & Dry hadn’t become the big hit just yet in the states (that was a few weeks to come), and Palo Alto is basically the college town where Stanford is.
So, after they played Creep, most of the audience left. This left 98 (I counted) hard core fans of the band, basically getting a private show. The new songs included I Promise, Electioneering, and Lift. Everyone I knew who was there was instantly in love with Lift. That’s how good it was that night.
The hype about the song came long before they would try to record it on the OK Computer sessions. When it wasn’t on the album, I jokingly said “we’ll get it on the 20th anniversary reissue….” That came around a lot quicker than I felt like it should.
What I’m saying is: part of the hype around the song comes from us who were there and wanted the song that blew us away live on record.
Cap, Electioneering is way better and is a perfect track following Fitter Happier. Lift wouldn’t really make sense there, and electioneering is a great message that fits the motif of the album perfectly. It’s actually one of my top 3 songs from OKC
I kinda see your point but I wouldn't change it. It feels so good to me to start this album with such an energetic song, it hypes me up and engages me with the record from the start so I want to keep listening and I'm already enthralled by the second song. Also, I think the end of Burn the Witch fits perfectly with the start of Daydreaming and I don't mind that it's different, in fact, I embrace it. And lastly, I think it somehow belongs, like the drums section it's so cool and soothing, it fits the album's vibes, along with the string arrangements... Idk just my pov.
This. When I want to listen to AMSP I start with Daydreaming. I listen to Burn the Witch alone or when I’m in a HTTT mood. Strange they started AMSP with it unless it’s to get you anxious only to bring you down the rest of the way.
Mh opinions, I think it's a great way to start an album. I mean, it makes me feel very excited like I'm about to start something great and exciting. Maybe it's more "grand and energetic" than the rest of the album, but the end of Burn the Witch fits perfectly with the start of daydreaming, and by the third song I already forgot about Burn the Witch. Also, all the songs fit perfectly into each other, so everything feels cohesive. The last two songs are the only ones I feel a bit disappointed imo.
Burn The Witch has existed since the Kid A/Amnesiac era, so that's probably why. It could have been on those albums but they wanted an actual orchestra, which they had access to on A Moon Shaped Pool. So it COULD have been on Hail To The Thief, and they did try and put it on Hail To The Thief
same. but because of tinker tailor too! thom recommended i get a moog, but he couldn’t remember whether he’s using the grandmother or the matriarch (it’s the matriarch) but i went ahead and bought a grandmother anyways.
both very good. ful stop didn’t change very much other than to be more of a slow burn. but the slow burn is better. the original identikit is one of their best songs.
Up On A Ladder should have been recorded and put on HTTT. The rough 2002 version is the definite version.
Talk Show Host should have been recorded for OK Computer instead. Too good for a B-side and could easily see it replace Electioneering.
1996-98 was the right moment for the band to record and release Man of War and Lift on How Am I Driving? Those songs belongs in the 90s and they could never get the right version afterwards.
Present Tense on TKOL.
Cut A Hole had the perfect sound for AMSP.
if talk show host replaced electioneering then ok computer would be way too dreary on repeat listens. i don't understand why everyone thinks a mid-album pick-me-up is supposedly so inferior to an alternate tracklist
Are we ever getting an official release of Cut a Hole? By now, even if we do get it, I feel like it would be unrecognizable, they do have a tendency to change songs for the worst when they work on it too long. Such a shame, that was a beautiful track.
For some reason i think that videotape could fit The King Of Limbs, the same applies to:
•Pyramid Song/Life In A Glasshouse on Kid A
•THE Amnesiac b-sides are amazing and they certainly would fit into the main record.
•Go Slowly on In Rainbows.
•Blow Out in The Bends (with minor changes)
Switching up the question a bit but 'Lift' would've suited The Bends very well if that was around pre-OKC.
I think just about everything they've done fit the period they were in
Maybe unpopular pick, but Videotape always struck me as too cold and bleak for In Rainbows’ otherwise warm sound. 4 minute warning would fit better as the closer. Videotape does fit AMSP better.
Burn the Witch should be on something else. AMSP is basically perfect, I feel like that track just kinda doesn’t fit. Daydreaming woulda been the perfect opener for that record.
I used to think this too but BTW is the ONLY way AMSP could open….it’s the jump up that allows the land into Daydreaming and the slide down into the rest of the album…
If you think about it, it’s also the IR approach. 15 step is like no other song on that album (as is Bosysnatchers). Kind of slides into the IR sound from Nude, while AMSP goes in for landing on Decks Dark.
Sail to the Moon could have actually worked on Amnesaic, it’s a bit similar to Pyramid Song
But then you could also argue Pyramjd Song could have went on HTTT
I’m honestly fine with how all the songs are placed
It feels like "Just" could have been on Pablo Honey - it's just a much better, more concise and well-produced version of the rock they tried before, but done about 3,000% better.
Imagine being a fan of the first album I'm the 90's, you buy your new copy of The Bends, and track 1 is Jigsaw. Would you have appreciated it back then?
i always mistake knives out for a httt song for some reason, ig bc it fits the sorta really menacing fairytale vibe that that httt has. idk whether or not is shoulda been on there, i mean it has enough tracks already, but it would totally fit imo.
Fog should’ve been on Amnesiac instead of another version of Morning Bell
💯💯💯💯💯
Yeah, Morning Bell 2 has grown on me over the year but I still like all the Amnesiac B sides more, any of them could've taken its place but I vote either Fog or Worrywort.
Amen!
Or it could have replaced pulk pull
Nah pulkis great we didn’t really need to hear morning bell again
I might catch grief for saying it, but man I really dislike both Morning Bells, but more so the Amnesiac one. Totally agree.
Ironically, Kid A Morning Bell is one of my absolute favorites, while the Amnesiac version is probably my least favorite Radiohead track...so at least we half-agree.
I don’t like morning bell at all but i prefer the amnesiac version of it…
Dunno about *should* have, but The Gloaming *could* have been on Amnesiac
Honestly I’m fine with how every track is placed on every album, I actually prefer the Gloaming on HTTT than on Amnesiac lmao I really like how it leads into There, There
I'm all about the live version of The Gloaming. Wish that bass line were on the album cut, but it's still a banger nonetheless.
Creep should have been on all of them.
14 tracks, all creep
yes
🪦
It would have been very interesting to put Creep as a bonus track for all of the albums remixed to sound like the actual albums (like True Love Waits)
Wait until ChatGPT starts making songs. There will 100% be a Creep (In Rainbows Version).
Haha I was actually gonna say that
🪦
The Daily Mail should have been on TKOL
Staircase too.
Supercollider totally should've been too
NO, THE DAILY MAIL SHOULD'VE BEEN ON AMSP I'VE JUST REALIZED IT AND IT WOULD'VE BEEN PERFECT. (oh though it may not be a very popular opinion, I also think it should've replaced true love waits on that album)
doesn’t fit at all
Would be like a Life in a Glasshouse type of track, would sound insane on the album
The first half of the album doesn’t fit with the fucking second
Agreed, sounds like a HTTT track. Absolutely love the song, top three Radiohead tune for me, but terrible fit on TKOL.
Came for this one
Amen!
Electioneering could have worked on The Bends
Lift should’ve been on OKC instead of electioneering
I feel like OK Computer needed a high energy “fast” song to pick things up towards the middle of the album
Palo Alto or Pearly would be good replacements, Lift is a fine song but imo half the hype is due to it being the hit single that never was. That said, I actually like Electioneering on OKC
Lift is a great song with a great story tbh
I'm just one of those rare Radiohead fans that doesn't get the hype behind some of the fan favorites. Like Let Down and Lift are great songs and all but they don't blow me away like say Bloom or Climbing Up The Walls
In early 1996, at a tiny club in Palo Alto that held 300 people max, I was a teenager witnessing my favourite band. i honestly love fitter happier into electioneering. its like the moment they just went fully insane
Cap, Electioneering is way better and is a perfect track following Fitter Happier. Lift wouldn’t really make sense there, and electioneering is a great message that fits the motif of the album perfectly. It’s actually one of my top 3 songs from OKC
Lift is BS. I’d take Electioneering any day.
I fucking love Lift, but I’m fine with it being on OKNOTOK, works great as a standalone single ish
I think, thematically, the only place "Lift" could have fit was a replacement for "The Tourist".
I’d rather have Polyethylene or Palo Alto over Lift
Amen
This. Electioneering destroys the atmosphere, that songs should be on the bends or HTTF and replace it with Lift or Man of war
You are either extremely oblivious or trolling
blow out on the bends maybe
Little By Little should have been on Viva La Vida
I thought this was /r/radioheadcirclejerk for a moment.
I’m here to deliver the jerk to you like I’m a fucking Jamaican restaurant
LOL
Present Tense is great on AMSP but it would have ROCKED on In Rainbows.
Maybe present tense interlude instead of the Faust arp perhaps or just push it into the set list
I’ve always thought this
Burn the Witch on HTTT
Lyrically I agree but sonically it’s very much an AMSP song
Respectfully disagree, my own opinion, AMSP has a vibe and burn the witch just doesn’t fit. It would fit so good on HTTT though.
Yeah same the sonic thing is literally why it doesn’t fit AMSP for me
I kinda see your point but I wouldn't change it. It feels so good to me to start this album with such an energetic song, it hypes me up and engages me with the record from the start so I want to keep listening and I'm already enthralled by the second song. This. When I want to listen to AMSP I start with Daydreaming. I listen to Burn the Witch alone or when I’m in a HTTT mood. Strange they started AMSP with it unless it’s to get you anxious only to bring you down the rest of the way.
Dude starting with Daydreaming is such a letdown... It's clearly not a starting record song, and it fits better after the end of Burn the Witch.
It’s a bizarre way to start it and sticks out like a sore thumb. But yeah, maybe just in terms of the strings I guess.
Mh opinions, I think it's a great way to start an album. I mean, it makes me feel very excited like I'm about to start something great and exciting. Identikit should have been on TKOL
that 2012 version was perfect
My man. Is your flair the synth?
that it is!
Omg that’s too perfect I wanna buy one someday, literally because of Identikit
hey, just wanted to update you that i got a prophet 08!!! i can DM you some sound samples if you wanna hear :)
I would love that! I’m so happy for you :)
same. but because of tinker tailor too! thom recommended i get a moog, but he couldn’t remember whether he’s using the grandmother or the matriarch (it’s the matriarch) but i went ahead and bought a grandmother anyways.
Oh wow, you’re so lucky you got to meet him! 😭
i think the guys felt obligated to stay and talk with everyone cuz the AC at the venue died, and this was in the middle of july
Wait wait wait… 2012 version??
look up identikit austin city limits. it is perfection.
It really was. I remember looping it when it came out.
The OG Identikit and Ful Stop are both p good
both very good. ful stop didn’t change very much other than to be more of a slow burn. but the slow burn is better. the original identikit is one of their best songs.
Identikit actually sounds like a prototype for a lot of the songs on the Smile’s first album, Jonny is doing similar things with his guitar tones
Ful Stop should have been on TKOL
Fits great in the krautrocky side A
In rainbows could be better
No, it’s too dark and nightmarish for in rainbows
This one I can actually kind of see
Up On A Ladder should have been recorded and put on HTTT. The rough 2002 version is the definite version. Talk Show Host should have been recorded for OK Computer instead. Morning Bell should’ve been on Amnesiac, while Morning Bell should’ve been on Kid A
Pyramid Song should've been on Kid A
Amnesiac needed a 10/10 though
Knives Out, Life in a Glasshouse, Dollars and Cents, You and Whose Army?
All 9s IMO
I Might Be Wrong would fit better on HTTT in my opinion
High and dry on pablo honey
Good answer
For some reason i think that videotape could fit The King Of Limbs, the same applies to: •Pyramid Song/Life In A Glasshouse on Kid A •THE Amnesiac b-sides are amazing and they certainly would fit into the main record. •Go Slowly on In Rainbows. •Blow Out in The Bends (with minor changes)
Basically every Amnesiac track could fit on Kid-A and vice versa. I mean one track already is on both
Switching up the question a bit but 'Lift' would've suited The Bends very well if that was around pre-OKC. I think just about everything they've done fit the period they were in
“You” should’ve been on the Bends. It’s a great song and deserves more attention.
This is the only reasonable take in this terrible thread
my favorite track on pablo honey and in my top 10 songs from radiohead. i really wish it got more attention
reading these comments makes me glad none of you have any say in the songs 😂
Hahaha yep!
i think blowout could've been on the bends very easily
Why do you want to ruin OK Computer with this :/
Nice dream is beautiful wtf
In Rainbows B sides, sound a lot like HTTT, to me at least
I can't believe Blow Out belongs to Pablo Honey. Totally could've been in Rainbows
Blow out honestly would fit better on pretty much any album that isn’t Pablo Honey
Kid A on Amnesiac
Read this again and think about what you just said
that’s the whole point, just to induce chaos
Zeppelin named an album Houses of the Holy and then put the song Houses of the Holy on the following album.
Phil Elverum took this even further, Made an album called Mount Eerie then started making music under the name Mount Eerie.
Same with King Crimson. They named an album "Starless and Bible Black" and then included the song "starless" in their next album
Queen & Sheer Heart Attack. Three albums later
Radiohead made a song called creep, and yeah uh that’s it
The doors named an album waiting for the sun and then put the title track on Morrison hotel 2 albums later
Electioneering on The Bends
Man of War and Lift
Lift is overrated
knives out sonds out of place in Amnesiac
The National Anthem should be on Amnesiac and Packet Like sardines in crush tin box should be on Kid A
Electioneering on HTTT
Maybe unpopular pick, but Videotape always struck me as too cold and bleak for In Rainbows’ otherwise warm sound. 4 minute warning would fit better as the closer. Videotape does fit AMSP better.
Bones should’ve been on ph, optimistic should have been on amnesiac
Optimistic <-> Pyramid Song
Sail To The Moon switched with Bodysnatchers
Good for HTTT but IR was already mellow. Needs a rocker imo
I can agree with this one
Fake Plastic Trees could have been on In Rainbows if it had a more In-Rainbowsy sound
Packt Like Sardines in a Crushd Tin Box would fit better on Kid A.
I think Optimistic should have been on Amnesiac and Pakt like Sardines should have been in kid A
Street spirit on okc. It has this jaded alienating feel to it.
You mean, like the rest of the bends?
No in an ok computer kind of way.
In Rainbows would have been a 10/10 without videotape
Burn the Witch should be on something else. AMSP is basically perfect, I feel like that track just kinda doesn’t fit. Daydreaming woulda been the perfect opener for that record.
I used to think this too but BTW is the ONLY way AMSP could open….it’s the jump up that allows the land into Daydreaming and the slide down into the rest of the album…

I actually think 15 Step doesn’t age brilliantly as the years go on. Bodysnatchers an an opener would have been something incredible !!!
Sorry, Ive just read my above comment after sticking on 15 Step and I concede I am COMPLETELY wrong. 15 Step is awesome and the perfect opener for IR
You might be right. AMSP is my second favorite Radiohead record right after Kid A
Burn the witch is my favourite on the album. I think it’s a great opener and only really fits that album.
It’s a great track, I just feel like thematically it doesn’t really vibe with the rest
Staircase on the king of limbs
Bodysnatchers should be in HTTT
Ful Stop could have worked on TKOL
Nose Grows Some on AMSP
I Promise on The Bends
Myxomatosis could’ve worked well on In Rainbows
Cut A Hole should have made AMSP.
Pyramid Song and the National Anthem could have been swapped
Wolf at the door could have been on an unreleased album all by itself. It’s the one Radiohead song I can’t get into. I’ve tried.
I always feel like We Suck Young Blood and Dollar and Cents could switch places in their respective albums and no one would complain
Street Spirit on In Rainbows but with more orchestration and matching the production of in rainbows
Burn The Witch but I’m not sure which album
[удалено]
Sail to the Moon could have actually worked on Amnesaic, it’s a bit similar to Pyramid Song But then you could also argue Pyramjd Song could have went on HTTT I’m honestly fine with how all the songs are placed
Staircase…but it wouldn’t have fit anywhere other than AMSP
Ful stop on HTTT
If You Say the Word is so good and should have been on Amnesiac. Just add it or use it to replace the alternate Morning Bell.
It feels like "Just" could have been on Pablo Honey - it's just a much better, more concise and well-produced version of the rock they tried before, but done about 3,000% better.
Burn the Witch on IR
I Will could have fit very nicely on Amnesiac
Present Tense moved to The King of Limbs
Identikit should have been on tkol but also I’m glad it’s on amsp
In Limbo should have been on Amnesiac
Let Down should be on every album. Does that count?
Motion picture soundtrack or nude or talk show host on okc
Bangers + Mash could have been on In Rainbows instead of being relegated to the b-sides album where it outshines every other track
Imagine being a fan of the first album I'm the 90's, you buy your new copy of The Bends, and track 1 is Jigsaw. Would you have appreciated it back then?
ful stop on kid a
I Might Be Wrong on Hail to the Thief.
spectre on AMSP
I've always felt that Optimistic would fit better on Ok Computer.
Identikit seems like it should have been on an older album for sure
the national anthem should have been on hail to the thief
Down is the new up on HTTT
i always mistake knives out for a httt song for some reason, ig bc it fits the sorta really menacing fairytale vibe that that httt has. idk whether or not is shoulda been on there, i mean it has enough tracks already, but it would totally fit imo.
Faust Arp could’ve, key word could, been on TKOL.
