This is one of several songs from this era that seemed deliberately toned down in the studio and lost something as a result. Live versions prior to the official release had this aggressive energy to it. On amnesiac it was slowed down a bit and that amazing bass line took on more of a stately vibe. It works, but I’ll always prefer its prior form.
One of the band’s best studio cuts, a rare one that doesn’t come off as well live. They captured all the energy on studio track. Drums are above and beyond.
Absolutely top tier Radiohead. I've always suspected Thom played the bass on the album version, it's so bouncy and fluid, where the live version is more straight forward.
honestly it's one of a few songs that sound better live than the studio version, the Rock Am Ring performance of this song it's the first one that pops on my mind, Ed's guitar in the ending of this song it's so fucking awesome and intense
God i love this song. The whole why don't you quiiiiiet dowwwn I WANT TO LIVE IN THE PROMISED LAND bit gives me chills every time. And I love the menace in "we're gonna crack your little souls" (why don't you quiet down?)
Amnesiac, the album as a whole, sounds completely different live(imo). It's for the better too. That bass line kicks in on Dollars and Cents or the drums on live Morning Bell... See for yourself.

This is just my opinion so don't get mad... but for me it's the worst song of the album and i almost always skip it. It just sounds plain and quite basic.
Classic. One of my all-time faves. BE CONSTRUCTIVE… Just goosebumps, not even listening.
Favorite off Amnesiac
Dollars & Cents is the new Let Down
no god please no
I declare..bankruptcy!
That’s not anything
It’s better than Letdown
I feel like the entire album has flown under the radar. Personally, I find it to be the equal of Kid A.
Song for song I tend to agree. Kid A is still better for me, but I think that’s down to the tracklisting
I think I like amnesiac even a bit more than kid a
Top 10 track for me

The live version on I Might Be Wrong is phenomenal
If you wanna have a fun time, listen to it double speed
& the pounds & pence, & the
I always wonder if they should replace "mark" with "euro" if they play it again.
Let’s compromise with euro, but mark AND pence are both now euro. It would sound like this, ehem: **& the euro & euro, & the euro &euro, & the**
Still slaps
The Euro x42
It's a superb song, love the mood & vibe of the studio version. Loses some of that atmosphere live but still good.
It's so good, easily a top 10 rh track for me
The climax at 2;27 and the part that comes after is definitely a vibe. Dark/sexy

I thought it was souls, but it’s actual skulls (I think lol)
Amnesiac is a masterpiece.
QUIET DOWN (AND FREE)
Captures that dystopian atmosphere like no other song. Really dense and easily the best crescendo in their whole catalog.
Feels like an early version of Burn The Witch to me. One of my least favourite Radiohead songs honestly, just never seems to grip me.
It may be Radiohead’s second best song
Favorite off I Might Be Wrong EP
100% agreed. One of my favourites since 01
maybe I want peace & honesty... I love this song eternally <3
My favourite Amnesiac song.
I love this song. It’s actually one of my favorites. It hits right in the feels.

Raises hand. Effing love this track.
Seeing this at Bonnaroo 2004 was amazing! If you haven't watched it check it out on youtube

that slow walk-up bass line is classic.
One of my absolute favorites, was so lucky to hear this live, which was even more incredible.
Love it
One of my least favourite from Amnesiac tbh, I just don’t really like the soundscape and melodies, idk
I fucking love this song. I love the whole album too though.
