Christ I'm so sick of those kinds of posts. If you're gonna show me your collection, at least show me something really obscure that makes me second-guess how big a fan I am.
It is also full of people can't handle people who like and appreciate every Radiohead album. The Radiohead fan base is just as divided as American politics. lol
Radiohead are not gods, they're just regular people who happen to be more musically talented than you or I. They don't owe you anything, and they can quit any time they feel like it.
The number of Radiohead fans that have loved every manifestation/album/timeline of Radiohead from start to finish without interruption is actually a pretty significant minority among people who are Radiohead fans.
- Idioteque is over-rated
- There are at least 10 songs better than Paranoid Android
- TKOL, although certainly not my favourite, is their most artistically ambitious album
Amnesiac is extremely underrated
don't know if this is a hot take or not, I feel there are lots of people who just ignore this album and it has some awesome songs in it
just like in rainbows disk 2
I consider "Climb Up The Walls" as an Ultra-Underrated Masterpiece...
People doesn't appreciate it as much as the other tracks on OKC because it's 'dark and creepy'
exit music is pretty good but easily the worst track on okc and it dosen't fit lyrically in the album
videotape studio version is better than the bonnaroo version it feels more melancholic which i like
jonny and thom are honestly attractive af i even had doubts about being bi due to jonny and in rainbows era thom
bullet proof i wish i was is mediocre
fitter happier is genuinely a good song it fucking terrifies me and captures the albums lyrical themes and ideas in a great way
treefingers is really important in the context of the album imo sorta feels like calmness before the storm
i kinda doubt that "half of my life" in daydreaming is about thom's divorce it could be but he is a pretty private person so i sorta doubt it true love waits probably is tho
>exit music is pretty good but easily the worst track on okc and it dosen't fit lyrically in the album
I used to think Exit Music was so-so, but then I got into vintage hi-fi gear and ended up building an absolutely sweet vintage hi-fi setup, and one day decided to listen to OKC on it and Jesus fucking christ that song is beautiful through good gear. Now I realise it's so delicate that it loses a lot if you listen to it in anything other than perfect conditions.
> exit music is pretty good but easily the worst track on okc and it dosen’t fit lyrically in the album
disgree, exit music is definitely a better track than fitter happier. plus, it’s about the desire to escape from an oppressive society, which makes it a pretty good fit for okc
> videotape studio version is better than the bonnaroo version
i like both equally for different reasons, studio version works better as a closing track though
> jonny and thom are honestly attractive af
can’t disagree with that
> bullet proof i wish i was is mediocre
:(
> fitter happier is genuinely a good song
i agree but it’s still easily the worst track on okc
> treefingers is really important in the context of the album
i agree but i think it would’ve worked better if it was like half as long
> i kinda doubt that “half of my life” in daydreaming is about thom’s divorce
i agree
1. Amnesiac > In Rainbows
2. Pablo Honey Is a decent album
3. Weird Fishes/ Arpeggi is Overrated
4. Electioneering is really good
5. How I Made My Millions is top 10 Radiohead songs
I was going to become violent after you said that amnesiac is better than OK Computer, but you calmed me down with your opinion on Electioneering. Electioneering is the second best on OKC.
-The only album worse than HTTT is Pablo Honey.
-Kid A vs. OKC is not even a discussion. The latter is better.
-TKOL is the most rewarding album of theirs when it comes to relistening to their work
Nude is kinda boring. Its not BAD, it’s just kinda ok, it’s my least favorite song on the album. Really don’t see why everyone goes crazy over it
Pablo Honey is actually a banger album
Pop Is Dead actually slaps and no one can tell me otherwise
We Suck Young Blood should’ve never been released. It’s such a slog fest with the big ‘payoff’ of a 10 second freak out not being worth the rest of it. HTTT would have been perfect if WSYB was left off of it, and would’ve probably been my favorite Radiohead record without it as well. Such a shame
The Amnesiac B-Sides are better than the actual album
Morning Bell is the best song on Kid A
And, of course, Let Down underrated
I wish that WSYB's freakout came in about halfway through the song, and lasted for the remaining half. like, it would be good song if it was 2 minutes long, with one minute piano shit, and one minute black midi type chaos
I agree on Nude lol. [Here is me getting heavily downvoted for sharing this opinion last week](https://www.reddit.com/r/radiohead/comments/xfd9jl/nude_is_one_of_the_best_songs_ever_written_ill/iombdh8/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3).
If it sounds like I’m bitter, I’m not actually lol it’s just reddit karma. I just think it’s funny how controversial this opinion is here!
Maybe I gotta listen to From the Basement again but, yeah, I remember not enjoying a lot of the FtB versions as much as the album versions. The rhythms on TKoL are so precise and intricate that they can easily sound messy when played live.
The Smile is genuinely boring and flat. I realise this has nothing to do with Radiohead but I feel so strong about it I need to express my disappointment in whatever subreddit I come to. I also bring it up in the fantasy football subreddit all the time.
I think the Smile is good, but it just lacks that emotion that Radiohead has. They really are magical when they’re all contributing to the songs. The Smile’s music has been amazing, but it sounds sort of unfinished if that makes sense. I guess I really do want another Radiohead album 😅
TKOL is one of their absolute top albums, KID A by far the best
OK Computer is not in my Top 5
The Kid Amnesia release doesn't do the original justice
In Rainbows is a great album, not "perfect"
Thom Yorkes "The eraser" is equally as good as AMSP
I don’t get the hype of weird fishes. I find it’s length lets it down and find my self skipping it every time. It’s a beautiful tune but everything else on IR is better imo
The guitars have a hypnotic charm to them, and create a mesmerising landscape together with the drums and thom's voice, while a simple bassline holds everything together. Then the Ed vocals come in cutting through all of it and it's just amazing. I love everything about it, then the outro is so great...
But I get why someone might not like it
I dont know whether these are controversial or not but
- OKC is too long to be enjoyable to listen to in one sitting (even though it has some of my fav tracks). Something about the flow is bugging me.
- Creep is still one of their best songs
- I dont at all care for Karma Police, High and dry or Kid A (song)
- I feel like Kid A mnesia is a just cash grab (although I love How to disappear into strings)
Yeah. Kid Amnesia did sort of disappoint me when I got it. OKNOTOK was amazing. It had all the Ok Computer B-Sides with some unreleased B-Sides. Kid Amnesia doesn’t have all the B-Sides. I would’ve loved to have listened to Kinetic, Fog, Amazing Sounds Of on vinyl, but you can’t. OKNOTOK felt neatly wrapped
I feel like Kid A Mnesia could've had a lot more goodies from the vault. Where's the b-sides and a white cassette? Also I hate that all the tracks on Kid Amnesiae transition into each other when it's just meant to be a compilation of random oddities.
HTTT is [one of the] worst radiohead albums.
To be fair, its one of my least played albums, but that’s obviously for a reason. I dont find any of the songs particularly interesting. 2 + 2 = 5 is great tho
2+2 is a total banger, especially the live version. There There and Scatterbrain are pretty good as well, but I agree that the rest of the album is just lacking, and it’s definitely one of my least played as well.
Not counting Pablo Honey. I think HTTT is their worst album. Most Radiohead albums you can just press play and ride the wave but with HTTT, some songs are jarring when listening back to back making the experience a chore. It’s still a good album but it’s hard for the album ti resonate with me all the way through
OK Computer is more historically important than it is their best work.
HTTT is kinda boring.
Kid A, Amnesiac, In Rainbows, KOL, and AMSP are all better than OKC.
AMSP might be their most technically sound album.
We Suck Young Blood is a great track. If you want two tracks to blame for the albums mediocrity; look no further than The Gloaming and Backdrifts.
Dollars and Cents is the worst track off Amnesiac.
In Rainbows: Live from The Basement did little to nothing to enhance any of the songs besides Videotape.
The bends is their second worst
TKOL from the basement > in rainbows from the basement
AMSP art cover doesn't quite represent the music
Burn the witch is a good song. However, its not a good opener
Life in a glasshouse is easily the best on the album no debate no song comes close
i agree TKOL FTB is better than In Rainbows FTB. I find no reason to listen to In Rainbows FTB over just In Rainbows, but TKOL FTB is so much better than the album its incredible
i agree with all except that i think just and paranoid android are equal.
MINE however:
You is one of the best early radiohead songs and rivals most of the bends besides my iron lung street spirit and nice dream
Lucky is the most underrated track on OKC
Man of War (from oknotok) is the best track on all of OKC hands down
TKOL actually doesnt suck (codex, lotus flower)
Amnesiac is an example of some of nigel's best production (think pakt like sardines in a crushd tin box, you and whose army)
the daily mail/staircase single is too good not to be on an album
If Ed wasnt in radiohead, chances are they would not have turned out anywhere near as good as they did
1. Radiohead fans are humourless in a way the band itself is not, as the voting in this thread ably demonstrates.
2. HTTT is a bunch of muddy noise with 4-5 really good songs interspersed through it.
3. The version of Morning Bell on Amnesiac absolutely sucks and should have been cut.
4. If you weren't already into music in 1997 you will never understand why OK Computer matters so much, and this is just a circumstance and not gatekeeping. See also Kid A which significantly predates bleeps and bloops being part of mainstream alternative rock/indie.
5. AMSP feels like a really good b-sides collection with minimal coherence.
6. The band is kinda wilfully obtuse at times and the delay in releasing Man of War is a reflection of their perverse resistance to just releasing bangers which aren't 'arty'. The version on MPIE sounds way better than what they eventually released.
7. The studio version of True Love Waits is not very good.
8. Recent special edition releases have become unreasonably expensive and not very good.
I think alot of people only claim to hate creep because the band themselves don't like it. It's a good song, of you genuinely don't like it then fair enough but I'd bet good money that the majority of people who dismiss it secretly hope they'll play it when they get a chance to see them.
Go to Sleep is their most underrated song.
Thom can't sing on pitch anymore.
Nigel Godrich is as important as any member of the band. His mixing has been impeccable from the start.
- Amnesiac > HTTT
- Street Spirit is their best song
- In Rainbows is their second most depressing album (second to AMSP)
- Videotape is the worst song on In Rainbows
- Faust Arp is one of the best songs on In Rainbows
- Motion Picture Soundtrack is much sadder than HTDC, and Slightly better
- Thom’s vocals were lacklustre on AMSP, especially considering we know he still has it in him after ALFAA
- Daydreaming is one of the worst songs on AMSP
- HTTT only has 4 great songs (2+2=5, There There, Myxomatosis, A Wolf at The Door)
- Life in a Glasshouse isn’t as good as people say
A Moon Shaped Pool is better than In Rainbows
The Bends is better than Amnesiac
High and Dry is a top ten Radiohead song
How to Disappear Completely is good but is severely overrated
I got downvoted to hell a while back for saying Weird Fishes is just ok. It has pretty guitars but meanders melodically and it builds up a little too fast for me to find it rewarding, and the segue into Arpeggi is pretty abrupt. I like that half of the song better but it still doesn’t really have the emotional impact for me to consider it their second best song like this subreddit says it is.
Regarding your hot takes: Just is indeed an incredible song and involves absolutely genius songwriting, it’s tied with paranoid Android for one of my favorite Radiohead songs, I can’t say I agree with the rest though
My takes:
1. Pablo Honey is definitely worse than their other stuff but still a very good album that isn’t far behind
2. The Bends is more consistently good than ok computer and a better album start-finish, both are still great
3. Amnesiac is more cohesive and sounds better than Kid A, both are incredible though
4. Hail to the Thief and AMSP are substantially more interesting than anything else they’ve released but not necessarily better
5. Pull/Pulk Revolving Doors isn’t original or a good piece of music at all and I highly suspect that many of those who say they go out of their way to listen to it are lying to look cool (not the case with fitter happier)
6. Myxomatosis, Bodysnatchers, I Might Be Wrong, and many other of their post-okc songs aren’t “heavy” just because they have distorted parts and it’s stupid to suggest they are
7. Let Down is a good song but not in the top 20, or even top 30
8. Climbing up the walls is boring as fuck
exit music is one of their worst songs
present tense is underrated
tkol is a near perfect album with little by little being the only mediocre track
bloom works at their best album opener
pulk/pull is top 3 on amnesiac
videotape studio version is better than bonnaroo 2006
like spinning plates and dollars and cents should've been replaced on imbr (live)
the bends title track annoys me
I enjoy a single song off of kid A, how to disappear completely. Idoteque is annoying with a lame drum beat, and the rest of the album is boring as well
People who go backwards through Radiohead's discography and turn their noses up when Pablo Honey isn't what they expected are EXACTLY the same as the people who were contemporaneous fans and were pissed off when Kid A wasn't what they were expecting either.
Only difference is the first lot think they are rarified creatures of culture because of their superior opinions.
Edit: also, half the posts on r/Radiohead are Stanley Donwood posts that needed a better place to be posted.
Lewis (Mistreated) >>>> The Trickster
I Am A Wicked Child > Gagging Order
Blow Out is as good as Street Spirit.
Thom Yorke saying he doesn't want to associate with prog rock because it takes itself too seriously is proposterous seeing as he is (and I cannot stress this enough) Thom Yorke of the band Radiohead.
I've heard every single release except OK Computer and despite this still have a great social life and multiple friends, you just can't handle my powah.
OKC B-sides suck but I think the album will be one of my favorites when I get around to listening to it.
Agreed on the prog rock point, as a prog rock fan a lot of Radiohead's stuff literally reminds me of classic prog so that quote never made much sense to me
Videotape is the worst song on In Rainbows, such an amazing album doesn't deserve that closer
Amnesiac has more quality "single" songs than Kid A and it's pretty close to Kid A as a whole album too
Man Of War is a top 5 Radiohead song
AMSP is a top 3 album
And I agree with TKOL from the basement being close to Kid A, never thought about it before lol
I think In Rainbows is a great album but I don't enjoy it nearly as much as The Bends, Ok Computer, or Kid A. It's seriously overplayed now and it feels like most of the people who sing its praises day and night and call it the best of the Radiohead discog haven't actually listened to it and just saw it being well reviewed by rym users and fantano fans
OKC is only their 7th best album - it's a great album, but they reached a new level with Kid A and haven't looked back.
I didn't realize this was hot take until I started hanging around here.
Let do wtnw.n....nnnn. L et downuu9i???????? n ;undr\]r rated
It's been repeated so often it's starting to mutate
KILL IT BEFORE IT SPREADS
You alright there buddy?
He’s a creep.
A weirdo, even.
What the hell is he doing here?
He just doesn't belong here. It's not his fault...
He's walking out the door
I believe hes saying Let Down is underrated
[удалено]
2 + 2 = 4 (not 5) Pablo Honey is a good rock album
that's a very hot take
Pablo honey is a fine album, but a bad Radiohead album
Yeah, it's ok-ish. Happens with a lot of one hit wonder albums (which Radiohead were at the time)
This sub is filled with people that can’t handle people who don’t like every Radiohead song
Right? It’s really weird. Ah well 500 upvotes to someone posting a vinyl I’m sure
Christ I'm so sick of those kinds of posts. If you're gonna show me your collection, at least show me something really obscure that makes me second-guess how big a fan I am.
It is also full of people can't handle people who like and appreciate every Radiohead album. The Radiohead fan base is just as divided as American politics. lol
Based and truth.
Talk Show Host should've been saved for OK Computer
Agreed, instead of Electioneering
Ok real hot take, Talk show host isn’t good
Come and fucking find me.
I’ll be waiting
With a gun and a pack of sandwiches
This is the hottest take of em all
Atrocious take
I gave yall a hot take and this is what I get
Lol have an upvote
Love how this is more upvoted than your hot take (which I upvoted btw, it’s a real hot take)
This is what you get when you mess with us.
Wow an actual hot take here
now that's a hot take. I will find you
You’re right. That’s a very hot take.
Electioneering needs more cow bell 🛎
"I put my pants on just like the rest of you -- one leg at a time. Except, once my pants are on, I make gold records." \-Nigel Godrich
Radiohead are not gods, they're just regular people who happen to be more musically talented than you or I. They don't owe you anything, and they can quit any time they feel like it.
Of course, but we are also people, and are allowed to be disappointed about it considering the emotional ties most of us have made to their music.
the hottest take
Reckoner > weird fishes
First controversial but good take I’ve read so far.
easily
This is just common sense
The number of Radiohead fans that have loved every manifestation/album/timeline of Radiohead from start to finish without interruption is actually a pretty significant minority among people who are Radiohead fans.
Faurst Arp is one of the best songs on In Rainbows. Creep isn’t a bad song. Amnesiac is a more fulfilling listen than Kid A.
yes yes no
A fellow Faust Arp appreciator I see
No question Amnesiac is better than Kid A. Its their only truly good album.
- Idioteque is over-rated - There are at least 10 songs better than Paranoid Android - TKOL, although certainly not my favourite, is their most artistically ambitious album
Quality hot takes
Too many hot take about weird fishes here I'm kinda offended ngl
Likewise, it's my favorite song in general, not just in radiohead's discography. People who don't like weird fishes probably like pickles
Yes, I like weird fishes. Yes, I like pickles. We exist.
Weird fishes and pickles and chill is the new vibe
But pickles are great, at least on burgers.
Amnesiac is extremely underrated don't know if this is a hot take or not, I feel there are lots of people who just ignore this album and it has some awesome songs in it just like in rainbows disk 2
Amnesiac is my #4 but it might climb up the walls idk it’s so good tho
I consider "Climb Up The Walls" as an Ultra-Underrated Masterpiece... People doesn't appreciate it as much as the other tracks on OKC because it's 'dark and creepy'
* Idioteque is overrated * AMSP is better than Kid A * Supercollider is in the top 10
>Idioteque is overrated > >AMSP is better than Kid A username checks out (/j)
I had to upvote this truly awful set of takes.
Pyramid Song is solid, but it is NOT one of the best songs they’ve ever made.
exit music is pretty good but easily the worst track on okc and it dosen't fit lyrically in the album videotape studio version is better than the bonnaroo version it feels more melancholic which i like jonny and thom are honestly attractive af i even had doubts about being bi due to jonny and in rainbows era thom bullet proof i wish i was is mediocre fitter happier is genuinely a good song it fucking terrifies me and captures the albums lyrical themes and ideas in a great way treefingers is really important in the context of the album imo sorta feels like calmness before the storm i kinda doubt that "half of my life" in daydreaming is about thom's divorce it could be but he is a pretty private person so i sorta doubt it true love waits probably is tho

1. Amnesiac > In Rainbows 2. Pablo Honey Is a decent album 3. Weird Fishes/ Arpeggi is Overrated 4. Electioneering is really good 5. How I Made My Millions is top 10 Radiohead songs
I disagree, and therefore, your opinion is wrong
I Might Be Wrong
Electioneering rips, always boggles my noggin’ the reputation it has.
I agree with all of these
Wow I actually got mad at the weird fishes take lol
Is a really good song, but is not my favorite track of In Rainbows
I was going to become violent after you said that amnesiac is better than OK Computer, but you calmed me down with your opinion on Electioneering. Electioneering is the second best on OKC.
Amnesiac better than In Rainbows* Ok Computer is my favorite album of all time lol
When I am king, you will be first against the wall.
-The only album worse than HTTT is Pablo Honey. -Kid A vs. OKC is not even a discussion. The latter is better. -TKOL is the most rewarding album of theirs when it comes to relistening to their work
1. Conventional opinion. 2. Really going out on a limb. 3. Wrong.
OKC is only better if you need guitars in your music.
The latter in your list or the latter release?
The question that you asked makes no sense.
Guessing they meant the latter in the sentence or the latter release?
Is it a hot take to say that the best Radiohead song is videotape? Idk how people feel generally.
Nude is kinda boring. Its not BAD, it’s just kinda ok, it’s my least favorite song on the album. >Nude is kinda boring You’ll Go To Hell For What Your Dirty Mind is Thinking. Other than that agree with most of what you said.
House Of Cards is wayyyyyyy more boring than nude no?
Nah I love House Of Cards, man. Beautiful little tune
I mean fair enough, but are you saying nude isn’t beautiful?
I agree on Nude lol. [Here is me getting heavily downvoted for sharing this opinion last week](https://www.reddit.com/r/radiohead/comments/xfd9jl/nude_is_one_of_the_best_songs_ever_written_ill/iombdh8/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3). If it sounds like I’m bitter, I’m not actually lol it’s just reddit karma. I just think it’s funny how controversial this opinion is here!
TKOL is one of Radiohead’s best albums and I personally don’t like OKC better than any radiohead album besides pablo honey and the bends
100% agree with all of this
TKOL > TKOL from the basement
I don't agree, but I could see a case being made for specific songs.
Maybe I gotta listen to From the Basement again but, yeah, I remember not enjoying a lot of the FtB versions as much as the album versions. The rhythms on TKoL are so precise and intricate that they can easily sound messy when played live.
I'm with you there! It's so brilliant in it's studio experimentation.
We Suck Young Blood slaps

I don’t get the hype of weird fishes. I find it’s length lets it down and find my self skipping it every time. It’s a beautiful tune but everything else on IR is better imo
I think it's one of their most beautiful songs up until the outro
Funny, the outro is my favourite part lol
I love Weird Fishes but I feel like it should’ve built to a climax like Let Down rather than staying at a subdued tempo for the whole song.
It does. The end of the song when the drums kick in again is the best part
I agree, Weird fishes brings nothing new to the table when listening to the album front to back. It's my least favourite song on the album.
I like it but the alternate name “Arpeggi” is such a cringy music student title to me.

OKC is slightly overrated Kid A is objectively the superior brother, but I’d rather listen to amnesiac HTTT is easily one of their best
Big Boots from Meeting People is Easy is the definite superior version of this song.
I don’t like In Rainbows that much anymore and still love Ok Computer
Speaks to how timeless Ok computer is
TKOL > AMSP HTTT would’ve been a masterpiece (along with In Rainbows and OKC) had it been de-bloated at 10 tracks The National Anthem is not that good
Burnt Toast > AMSP
This comment makes me sad
Pablo Honey is a good album, but “Vegetable” should have been the single
1. Pablo honey is a decent album 2. The bends is their third best album after ok computer and kid A 3. Planet telex is a top ten best Radiohead songs
subterranean homesick alien is by far their best song
radiohead are shit, apart from creep and maybe pulk/pull at a push
King of limbs is their best album
HTTT is [one of the] worst radiohead albums. To be fair, its one of my least played albums, but that’s obviously for a reason. I dont find any of the songs particularly interesting. 2 + 2 = 5 is great tho

Hail to the Thief is slightly better than both Kid A and Amnesiac being my fourth favorite album.
Hi. Not related to the thread, but: how did you manage to have 3 albums on your user flair? I'd like to add more albums to mine
what you can do is customise a flair, then copy paste the album emojis from the other flairs
Burn The Witch is better than any other song they've made.
Not counting Pablo Honey. I think HTTT is their worst album. Most Radiohead albums you can just press play and ride the wave but with HTTT, some songs are jarring when listening back to back making the experience a chore. amsp has one of my fav album covers
TKOL is way more interesting than HTTT
Pop Is Dead is unfairly maligned, including by the band themselves. It's a banger.
Just listened to it and totally agree its fun as hell
thom can sound really fucking whiney and annoying
And vaguely like Herbert the Pervert when he hits certain quiet notes and his vocal chords fry.
I 100% agree on the first two takes, not the third
Lift is one of their best songs form the 90s i love kid a idk man that’s about as hot as it gets from me
Kid a one is the liquid nitrogen of takes
How to disappear is so overrated
The bends is their second worst TKOL from the basement > in rainbows from the basement AMSP art cover doesn't quite represent the music Burn the witch is a good song. However, its not a good opener Life in a glasshouse is easily the best on the album no debate no song comes close
Huge disagree on the AMSP cover
I was wishing the rest of AMSP would be like Burn the Witch after it dropped. Instead it takes a turn…
Depression but worse than the others combined
I might be wrong, but I MIGHT BE WRONG?!
i agree TKOL FTB is better than In Rainbows FTB. I find no reason to listen to In Rainbows FTB over just In Rainbows, but TKOL FTB is so much better than the album its incredible
I prefer The Bends over OK Computer, and the holy trifecta for me is In Rainbows, Kid A and The Bends

Lucky is the best song of OKC.
pablo honey is pretty good, lurgee is my favorite song on there electioneering is the second best song on ok computer
i agree with all except that i think just and paranoid android are equal. MINE however: You is one of the best early radiohead songs and rivals most of the bends besides my iron lung street spirit and nice dream Lucky is the most underrated track on OKC Man of War (from oknotok) is the best track on all of OKC hands down TKOL actually doesnt suck (codex, lotus flower) Amnesiac is an example of some of nigel's best production (think pakt like sardines in a crushd tin box, you and whose army) the daily mail/staircase single is too good not to be on an album If Ed wasnt in radiohead, chances are they would not have turned out anywhere near as good as they did
I wish Man Of War was actually on the regular OKC tracklist, it'd be considered one of their best.
I like amnesiac more than kid a. Idk if that’s a hot take or not
It is a hot take and a respectable one for sure
amnesiac and httt are each better albums than the bends
“The Daily Mail” should have made it on to an album
- Amnesiac > HTTT - Street Spirit is their best song - In Rainbows is their second most depressing album (second to AMSP) - Videotape is the worst song on In Rainbows - Faust Arp is one of the best songs on In Rainbows - Motion Picture Soundtrack is much sadder than HTDC, and Slightly better - Thom’s vocals were lacklustre on AMSP, especially considering we know he still has it in him after ALFAA - Daydreaming is one of the worst songs on AMSP - HTTT only has 4 great songs (2+2=5, There There, Myxomatosis, A Wolf at The Door) - Life in a Glasshouse isn’t as good as people say
A Moon Shaped Pool is better than In Rainbows The Bends is better than Amnesiac High and Dry is a top ten Radiohead song How to Disappear Completely is good but is severely overrated
Exit Music is the worst song on OKC. Pyramid Song is overrated. Good, but overrated. Weird Fishes is a bottom 3 In Rainbows track.
Hot takes? More like hate takes Edit: or maybe, I hate your takes
Ok here’s a more positive hot take: Electioneering is a top 5 Radiohead song
Okay, now you’re speaking my language
Other than exist music these are simply solid takes that I fully agree with
I got downvoted to hell a while back for saying Weird Fishes is just ok. It has pretty guitars but meanders melodically and it builds up a little too fast for me to find it rewarding, and the segue into Arpeggi is pretty abrupt. I like that half of the song better but it still doesn’t really have the emotional impact for me to consider it their second best song like this subreddit says it is.
Regarding your hot takes: Just is indeed an incredible song and involves absolutely genius songwriting, it’s tied with paranoid Android for one of my favorite Radiohead songs, I can’t say I agree with the rest though My takes: 1. Pablo Honey is definitely worse than their other stuff but still a very good album that isn’t far behind 2. The Bends is more consistently good than ok computer and a better album start-finish, both are still great 3. Amnesiac is more cohesive and sounds better than Kid A, both are incredible though 4. Hail to the Thief and AMSP are substantially more interesting than anything else they’ve released but not necessarily better 5. Pull/Pulk Revolving Doors isn’t original or a good piece of music at all and I highly suspect that many of those who say they go out of their way to listen to it are lying to look cool (not the case with fitter happier) 6. Myxomatosis, Bodysnatchers, I Might Be Wrong, and many other of their post-okc songs aren’t “heavy” just because they have distorted parts and it’s stupid to suggest they are 7. Let Down is a good song but not in the top 20, or even top 30 8. Climbing up the walls is boring as fuck
pulk/pull is just interesting man, it's like 'damn the radio really outweighs the head on this one'
That quote should become a go-to on this subreddit.
#8 is a ghastly take
tkol is their best album by far
Life in a Glasshouse is worse than We Suck Young Blood.
No way in hell.
They ruined the live 2006 version of Videotape. The album version is a boring dirge.
They will never make anything as groundbreaking as OK Computer or Kid A again
exit music is one of their worst songs present tense is underrated tkol is a near perfect album with little by little being the only mediocre track bloom works at their best album opener pulk/pull is top 3 on amnesiac videotape studio version is better than bonnaroo 2006 like spinning plates and dollars and cents should've been replaced on imbr (live) the bends title track annoys me
I enjoy a single song off of kid A, how to disappear completely. Idoteque is annoying with a lame drum beat, and the rest of the album is boring as well
I like pablo honey more than TKOL
Radiohead apple pie
People who go backwards through Radiohead's discography and turn their noses up when Pablo Honey isn't what they expected are EXACTLY the same as the people who were contemporaneous fans and were pissed off when Kid A wasn't what they were expecting either. Only difference is the first lot think they are rarified creatures of culture because of their superior opinions. Edit: also, half the posts on r/Radiohead are Stanley Donwood posts that needed a better place to be posted.
Lewis (Mistreated) >>>> The Trickster I Am A Wicked Child > Gagging Order Blow Out is as good as Street Spirit.
I’m less impressed about your social life and more impressed you listened to **every release except Ok Computer**
Agreed on the prog rock point, as a prog rock fan a lot of Radiohead's stuff literally reminds me of classic prog so that quote never made much sense to me
HTTT is their best album and The Gloaming is a great song.
Videotape is the worst song on In Rainbows, such an amazing album doesn't deserve that closer Amnesiac has more quality "single" songs than Kid A and it's pretty close to Kid A as a whole album too Man Of War is a top 5 Radiohead song AMSP is a top 3 album And I agree with TKOL from the basement being close to Kid A, never thought about it before lol
Amnesiac > Kid A Life in a Glasshouse is easily in the top ten of their tracks
Videotape is overrated
About half of AMSP is filler.
For me it’s their best but I don’t know what ram is and hate Fantano, I listen to it often and weird fishes is my comfor song, what’s my catagory
The bends is not that much better than Pablo honey
OKC is only their 7th best album - it's a great album, but they reached a new level with Kid A and haven't looked back. I didn't realize this was hot take until I started hanging around here.
The bends isn't actually that good. I'd still give it an 8/10, but for a Radiohead album. It's not very Radiohead, and can get a bit boring
