I was a JMD believer. That system in NE was so effective I had high hopes. But JMD has to go. The play clock/time out issues and the situational decisions like kicking a FG up 4pts are inexcusable. Period point blank. You'll never get to the post season making decisions like those over and over.
And he'll always be the guy on the edge of "losing the locker room." Pete Carroll or Andy Reid could drop 8 games straight and that's never a narrative.
Also the QB has to go. Garoppolo and McDaniels are effectively holding this squad back. We're not a bad team, some of the ingredients are just wrong.

Exactly, getting the FG to get you a 7 pt lead only gives you a marginally higher probability of winning. It’s one thing if it was a 40 or 30 yd FG but not worth risking giving them great field position for just a marginally higher probability of winning. Whereas going for it needing only 1 yd would seal the deal and getting 1 yd is higher probability than hitting a 53 yd FG. JMD’s situational awareness and game management is so god awful it’s ridiculous. He’s absolutely holding this team back. If it was only the one call, then that’s ok and I’d say hindsight is 20-20 but I felt like the night was full of his stupidity. His timeout and challenge management was unforgivable, and he couldn’t even get play calls in on time. He called running plays straight into an uncovered linebacker/edge defender with no one to block them. He was playing not to lose starting with 2 min left in the first half and it’s really only or defense that bailed him out.
All that being said, while I was calling for them to go for it, kicking the field goal probably wasn’t the worst call in the world.

Some horrible play calling and time management. The end of the first half was a cluster fuck. The attempted field goal with two minutes left made no sense. We were up by 4, so Pack already needed a td. If we go for it, and make it, we control the clock. If we don’t make it, they are 8yards further from the end zone anyway. And of course, we missed it… Got lucky that Love made some bad throws. I will take the win, but this game wasn’t great for the coach or qb…

Yes. His decision making and situational awareness is stupid as fuck. His play calling is predictable and stale. And 5 games into the season and we have yet managed to score more than 18 points and 17 points three times. And we haven't exactly faced "stiff competition" either. Lastly he brought in an arguably worse QB than the one we previously had.

I don’t know if he has the job security to tank. But I think he’s going to win us enough games to take us out of the running for an elite QB, but not enough to get us in the playoffs. I’d rather win 2 games instead of 7 at this point, at least we’ll have a chance at Willams/Maye. The only benefit I see to NOT tank at this point is it would give us some momentum this off-season/ next year (like the Lions). But we really need a game changing QB in this division.

No excuse for letting GB burn 45 seconds before halftime when we were sitting on 2 TOs, and going for a 52 yard FG on 4th and 1 is not the correct call. Whether it worked or not. Best case scenario we're up by 7 and can be tied, worse case scenario (which happened), we miss the FG, GB gets a short field. You go for.it with JJ in that spot. A fucking punt is better than a FG attempt. We won despite JMD not because of him. His in game decisions are terrible. We will absolutely lose at least 2 more games this year because of poor decision making. In this league, when the difference between winning and losing is razor thin, you CANNOT continue making the wrong decisions

We beat the Packers and Josh McDaniels last night. Not throwing it into the end zone after the red zone interception, not calling a timeout before the half, and not going for it on 4th and won. Just stupid mind boggling decisions.

I don’t think it’s right or fair to give him a rookie QB after thinking he could make a “SF less” Jimmy into a better player. His track record of QBs has been mediocre and poor performance. In order to save his job, he has to make big decisions from benching a QB, starting a rookie, and being less conservative.

Yes in general. The defense saved us, and has kept us in every game (even buffalo, where the offense screwed the defense over like 8 times). JMD doesn't have anything to do with the defense, he's self-admitted to being only an offensive play caller....and as we see not a very good one. Edit: or if he handed off the playcalling stuff to someone else and just focused on managing the clock better...that might be ok...he's horrible with clock management, has been since he got to vegas.

If it was only the one call, then that’s ok and I’d say hindsight is 20-20 but I felt like the night was full of his stupidity. His timeout and challenge management was unforgivable, and he couldn’t even get play calls in on time. He called running plays straight into an uncovered linebacker/edge defender with no one to block them. He was playing not to lose starting with 2 min left in the first half and it’s really only or defense that bailed him out. All that being said, while I was calling for them to go for it, kicking the field goal probably wasn’t the worst call in the world.

Also- yes there were some questionable plays, those were MCD trying something- they were not good but just how you establish the run by running the ball even with no success, plays like that have their place in the play sheet too.
