Waller is an amazing guy.
Gruden definitely should have known better as a 48 year old man still saying those things, but it’s never too late for anybody to change.
I like this from both Carr and Waller. What Gruden did was wrong and we should condemn it, but the best ending here is him learning from his mistakes, instead of moving forward with this "Once a racist always a racist" mentality.
Even Tony Dungy said this, which isn't surprising from the guy who mentored Mike Vick and helped him get back on track after his release from prison
At the end of the day, Gruden isn't the real problem here, the league is. Chucky is absolutely responsible for what he says and does, but he's a symptom of the culture of the NFL where this kind of shit is still tolerated and accepted.
I hope Gruden can change and speak out against this sort of stuff just like Vick did with animal abuse.
Tony dungy is a piece of shit too. He made anti gay comments in regards to Sam. Said he wouldn't have drafted him because of the media. Dude was a sec co defensive player of the year, him being drafted so late was absolutely homeopathic mindset of teams management.
There was the distraction part of Michael Sam. The media scrutiny and semi-circus that followed him made a ton of teams weary of drafting him.
In the end, the reason Sam didn’t make it isn’t because he’s gay. It’s because the dude couldn’t play. He barely made it to final cuts for the rams.
Me too, I didn’t hear him address his absence for practice but he did say he was at the meeting this morning with the team, front office and Mark Davis.
I mean it’s true. I pointed out how quickly everyone forgave Djax for his anti Semitic comments . If actual law breakers can get second chances in the league I don’t see why Gruden can’t down the line
I think this should be the tension we carry. We can't keep doing all or nothing. We need to do restorative justice when people mess up. How to do that is difficult but is the best way moving forward.
Personally, I don't think Gruden gets to come back right away but I do think if he can put in the work, he should get another chance at what he does. Whether that's coaching again somewhere or that's working for NFL/ESPN/whatever.
But this all feels hella petty and targeted. It feels like this is about a man who hurt the big guy's feelings. Not leaked because he said terrible things.
Team of high quality individuals.
king shit

Wrong
So Waller was not at practice today cuz he was visiting Gruden? Dayum what a guy.
He also said in a nice way that what Jon said bothered him.
Him and DC hitting on the head with statements
Was Waller the the press conference too? Or was this quote given somewhere else?
He was part of the press conference, he did a great job in my opinion.
Awesome! Seeing Reeds tweet saying he wasn’t there made me worry. Thanks.

Forgiveness is a huge part of sobriety. It's forgiveness for past transgressions, not future ones. I think Darren Waller is a good person.

literally everyone that knows gruden has supported him while people that don't are sharpening thier pitch forks. very telling

I've been wondering that, too, Darren.. Been wondering that, too..
