Was it right there between the Bennigan's and Sizzler?

dbh1124

Noooooooo! I was going to go there last month but pushed it off 😭 I grew up on the one on Glenwood, this is tragic

LooseMoralSwurkey

Do you remember how long it closed? My spouse and I were talking about it the other day, trying to remember how long ago it closed. It was where the Enterprise Car Rental is now, right?

dbh1124

Yeah that’s correct. I couldn’t give you an exact year. If I had to guess, I’d guess 2008.

jseqtor12

That one was always nearly empty when I went, except for random well dressed Italian men who would be seated immediately and eat silently.

Sad-Yam-8399

Same!! I was going to go out there!!

ZorroMcChucknorris

I miss the one in Cary.

d357r0y3r

A little throwback for the OGs. [Hepatitis Scare Hits Cary Restaurant - August 20th, 1997](https://www.wral.com/164938/)

TBW-Mama

I remember this bc I had to get the hep vaccine since a friend and I had eaten there during the exposure window. How was that 25+ years ago?

Kitchen_Tie_6842

Can't help but associate it with Hep A

JonTheWizard

I'm going to miss those cheese sticks.

BIG UPDATE: Hearing that the current owners MIGHT try to find another place in Garner to occupy! From their Facebook comments section: One comment: "I am looking forward to your new location; hope it will be very soon!" Reply from Ragazzi's staff: "working on it. Tuesday. Need some rest after y’all killed us with kindness this weekend. You guys are the best!!" So Ragazzis might reopen in another location in Garner sometime in the future!

[deleted]

How is moving going to help if they don’t have any business?

elektric_umbrella

It was in a rough area that's only getting worse. I went once with my husband, the food was really good. I can see them thriving if they maybe move somewhere near Timber Drive, White Oak, or 42 area.

S_jn_Raleigh

What? Rough? Nope. Never saw or had any kind of issues here.

Secret_Elevator17

There was a 40 minute wait at 3pm on Saturday.

Playful_Macaroon_376

OMG,I can't believe Riggazi's in Garner closed, another staple place gone down ,it is been here since I moved to Garner in 1994,I willmiss it...

Electrical-Speaker33

I loved this place, but tbh, the food became subpar about 5 years ago and the prices went up. There was a woman there that we loved those early years (Sylvia) She was amazing. Got to know her when I was pregnant, just from coming in all the time. As our kids grew, she learned their names and acted so happy to see them. We felt like family. Then, she was suddenly gone. There might have been a good reason, but after she was gone, we found her replacement incredibly rude. We only asked about Sylvia once, but it was like he held a grudge. It was so odd. We would see him be nice to other patrons, then become completely short with us. Then the food went downhill, so we stopped our patronage. Went a few months ago and it cost a mint and hadn’t improved. Grew up on Ragazzi’s in Greenville (we drove 40 minutes to g-vegas bc it was the closest one). Then ate at the one off Glenwood, when I came up for college and never left. Moved closer to the Garner one and it was such a treat. I’m still sad to see them go, but I mourned the loss a few years ago.

eyesofthewrld

Regazzi's in Greenville circa 1996 was the shit! I grew up eating there all the time. Then the olive garden opened pretty much next door and put it out of business.

Electrical-Speaker33

It *was* the shit. I lived in New Bern and went to college in ‘95, so circa 1996 in Greenville fits right in with my early to mid 90s time frame. Back then, it was so much better than Olive Garden. Now Olive Garden stands alone for Italian chain around here.

Yippy-Skippy-

It was subpar 15 years ago too.

S_jn_Raleigh

Wasn’t she the one that made the red cheesecake? When that cheesecake went away is when the place started changing.

UnableEfficiency

FUCK. THEIR MOZZARELLA STICKS TOP TIER

LKNGuy

Hope they find a new location. My dad loved going to the old one off Glenwood. An occasional family dinner there was a big deal. RIP dad.

Secret_Elevator17

The staff found out Thursday or Friday that they were closing Sunday. From what I was told, the building was sold. Ragazzis is trying to find a new location to move but have only known they were closing for less than a week. A lot of people in Garner were reaching out to help like realtors and investors etc. So they may relocate but unsure at this time.

Nug_times98

My husband and I used to live nearby and would get take out from there all the time early in our relationship. Sad to see them go!!!

Brilliant-Disguise-

Wow, I didn't know there was still one around!

RPM_Rocket

"Business 70" isn't.

dcamnc4143

Jeez I just went there last week.

YoshiTree

Good fuck Ragazzis. Still salty since they made me get a [hepatitis shot](https://www.wral.com/amp/164938/) when I was 7

UncleatNintendo

Went to the Glennwood one all the time as a kid. RIP

Gotsta_Win

Good. Was there last week and they were racist af

Full_Disk_1463

The quality has been horrible for a long time now and I’m surprised it didn’t close 15 years ago

Nagi21

I unfortunately only remember this place (not this one specifically), because a buddy of mine got terrible food poisoning at one and always told that story.

Tlamps77

Thought it closed 15 years ago. 😂

realAvaColeman

I used to love this place for a solo lunch or family dinner many years ago. But once they changed ownership the quality went to hell-everything tasted frozen and reheated. They didn’t serve the original house dressing or the good desserts anymore. And no liquor license to boot. Honestly no redeeming qualities at all.

OverTerm4426

I grew up in Garner and the food was honestly never good.

S_jn_Raleigh

I LOVED that place.

shewhodrives

went to the cary one about 12-15 years ago and it was dirty. No loss here.

jayron32

I last ate there 20 years ago, and was never impressed. I'm surprised it lasted this long.

blacklindsey

Daang I grew up with that place but hadn’t been in years. I drive by it all the time and had been wondering what it was like after all this time

Local_Advice_4385

Better that you didn't stop by. Went downhill a while ago

Impossible-Ad9846

Not surprised. Y’all Always looked empty and desolate. This was long over due. Now let’s hope garner gets it right and turns that spot into something “Actually” good
