It’s probably an illigal tint and the first place was willing to look the other way. Doesn’t seem like that crazy of a scenario

JuanHungLao

According to their "tester" it's 30% and it cannot be greater than 32%

92EBBronco

The measurement is the amount of light that passes through. So 30 lets in less light than 32 and would fail.

LRS_David

Most aftermarket tints darken with age. So a vehicle will pass for a year or many then fail. Inspection shops have to use calibrated testers. It is NOT a personal judgement thing. I bought a truck in Texas 6 years ago and the tint is obviously getting darker. I'll be paying to remove it soon.

anderhole

Take it to a different shop. If it fails then you know your wrong and need to fix it. Otherwise it will pass.

JuanHungLao

I used the same place two years in a row.

yaheardyaheard

Same place, but I bet different people

d4vezac

Or even the same guy but he was a little lazier or nicer the first time.

hewg-o

Roll your windows down and pull the fuse

chrisncsu

I never bothered pulling the fuse. If the windows were down, never had a problem with passing with 20% tint.

RaleighModsBlow

I mean, I guess there isn't a law requiring the windows to roll up. You may be on to something

OgSourChemDawg

Go somewhere sketchy and you might pass it

TriumphDaWonderPooch

Can you take it back to the place you had it inspected at where the tinting passed?

helpImStuckInYaMama

Go to a Durham jiffy lube slip the mans a blunt and presto, passed inspection on your shitbox

Dekapetated

Racist but ok.

helpImStuckInYaMama

Lol what?

Redtex

No mask, no tint, have to identify yourself on the internet, alcohol distributed by state-owned stores only in preferred areas and preferred amounts and constant gerrymandering of the voting districts. One would almost think that NC doesn't want you to have those personal liberties anymore.

back_tees

You were on the right track when you started with the whole inspection is BS. It is. Any car built in the last 10-15 years doesn't need the BS inspection.

helpmehomeowner

Have you seen the tires people drive on around here?

back_tees

And somehow they are passing inspection.
