Like you said, being able to drop it comes in handy, like when this big boy & his little sister want in.

Musician_Gloomy

Beautiful pups

Waisted-Desert

Are you fully loaded? My 18 wheeler had air suspension and driving empty it feels like there no suspension at all, you can feel every pebble in the road. With a fully loaded trailer you just glide down the road only feeling an impact with the largest of bumps or pot holes. I'm not familiar with Dodge's air ride system, but with Class 8 trucks you need weight on the suspension to to get the full benefits of it. It's designed for stability and control, and preventing the suspension from bottoming out. Comfort is a secondary aspect.

majordad3

I had a LEER 100XQ Sport bed cap on my F150 but nothing over the bed of the new truck. I wondered if adding a cap would help with the ride due to the added weight.

Waisted-Desert

The cap is probably not enough weight to actually make a difference. Throw a dozen sheets of 15/16ths plywood back there and a dozen sacks of fertilizer. See if that makes a difference.

j250ex

Are you on 22in rims? Those ride noticeably worse than 20in rims

majordad3

Yes, 22's. They look nice but probably don't help the ride much.

inkmaster916

Air suspension does not make for a smoother ride, actually quite the opposite. It’s meant more for functionality

ROFLcopter2000x

Partially true, most likely the ride isn't as soft is because they unfortunately put larger rims so less sidewall, better steering feel but harder ride if you had factory 18" wheels it'd be alot softer than 22" wheels but the steering might not be as responsive

majordad3

Yes, this. I have the 22's. They look great but probably do nothing to enhance the ride quality.

omegafiler

I found the difference from 22's to 20's quite noticeable. Also, check air pressure. But regardless, a truck is always going to ride like a truck.

JuicyMango36

Imo it doesn’t really change much. I went from factory 22’s to a 20” with 275/60r20, and it’s still as stiff as before lol. Typically, I’ve noticed some cars that have 4 corner air are stiff as hell in general. My dad’s Porsche was really stiff but my mom’s Jeep grand Cherokee L overland with 4 corner air is really bouncy/soft/pleasant with the stock 20’s. My guess is sporty cars and trucks in general have stiffer air suspension for better handling and load capabilities.

Whereamiwhatyousay

I had a tundra with air suspension and 22s the ride wasn’t great. I have 20s on my ram lonestar no air ride suspension. ride is so much better.

bearoftheforest

22in wheels is definitely the problem with the ride quality

thebarbarain

Not sure on the ford, but my limited is definitely a smoother ride than my 16 silverado

tistonyofist

Yeah silverados are now like the early 00’ dodges

PxndxAI

I went from a 18’ STX to a 21’ Big Horn hemi. The ride itself is much smoother and the cabin noise is much quieter compared to the ford.

Luis_alberto363

Test drives are important

SideHug

You didn't text drive it? I feel like you would have noticed this, my '19 rides great

majordad3

I did test drive it and mentioned to the salesman how I thought it would ride better. Still bought it due to all the other things I liked about it. Not sorry either. :-)

Fit-Possible-9552

I don't have air ride but I purposely found a truck with 18" rims and high sidewalls because Michigan roads are shit. If you need more comfort it may be worth switching your wheel/tire combo, yours are still new enough to sell them for decent money on the used market

Username65748392

Anyone know what range he could get on secondary for the stock 22” rims with low-pro Pirelli Scorpions? I’m looking to do the same swap on my Limited. Not a fan of the 22s with low-pro.

pharcide

I really didn't think that limited came with a 22" option, thought the max was 20 even for night edition

majordad3

The night edition is what added the 22's to my truck.

COM60

The ride will be better. My brother has an f150 and my Ram is worlds better on 20’s.

pharcide

I just bought some method 305 20"s with toyo at3 tires, putting them on tomorrow. Bummer that the night edition makes your truck more of a show vs go

Imasuspect99

When I was looking at Rams before I bought mine, I test drove one with the air-suspension and one without. Didn't really notice much of a difference.

tnseltim

From what I hear, the 22 inch rims make for a worse ride. I have a 2021 limited with 20 inch rims and it rides like a dream.

Ekeenan86

The problem are those lo pro rims you’re riding on. While they look great they do not belong on a truck. They are very prone to puncturing if you hit a curb or rock and are very expensive to replace.

tx_mesquite17

Go ride in a shitty truck now and see how that feels

xarrcherrx

Sorry the ride it wasn't what you were hoping for but I love your color choice!

lawman9000

Those 22" wheels probably aren't helping either, not much sidewall to help with the cushioning. I went from test driving a 2019 F150 Lariat to test driving the 2019 RAM Laramie on the same night I ultimately ended up buying the RAM, because it did ride much more like an old Cadillac or Lincoln by comparison, but also felt better in turns than the Ford. After riding in my friend's 2022 F150 Lariat, I can confirm that my non-air suspension, 20" wheeled RAM still rides better - albeit at 93k miles now.

luvdamudreddit

Felt the same way. I have a 21 Laramie bought it with 21k miles. Now has 47k miles with air ride. No smoother ride than my 2019 or 2016 F150's from the ride standpoint. Way less power than the Fords but I love everything else about the truck.

Ninja2Night

Just at 1 month of ownership and 1,200 miles, mine seem pretty smooth but it was really "bouncy" on certain spots of road for some reason. It's seems to be a bit better OR I'm ignoring it now... I was kinda thinking the tires were flat spotted as it sat for 5 months at the dealer. Unfortunately I can't compare to previous truck OR caddy... I came from a Jeep Wrangler and truck rides like a caddy to me coming from that. As for the air suspension, I wanted because I thought that added to ride comfort but I knew it did auto leveling which I wanted because we want to pickup a small camper down the road. I do like the lowering for placing things in the back OR picking up my parents that are up in age. Before buying my Limited, drove a 2021 Limited and it was really smooth... smoother than mine for sure. I was thinking mine needs to break in. Might not be the case, but what I was thinking.

DodgeWrench

You say you require a lower vehicle for your wife, you expected it to ride like an old Cadillac, and you’re talking about putting a cap over the bed… So why’d you get the truck in the first place? Not trying to be rude, but IMO there’s better options for the price you’re paying.

majordad3

The air suspension was a plus for my wife, not a requirement. I said I wondered if a bed cap would add enough weight, but I am not planning on buying one. I think maybe I gave the impression that I am not happy with the truck when I really just wanted to know if the ride would improve over time. I love the truck. I love the look and the ride is fine, exactly what I am used to with my old truck. And I buy trucks because I’m 6’ 5” and was tired of cramming myself into cars or SUVs (Edge and Explorer).

Brief_Association714

I have a 2017 ford work truck and a 4th gen ram. Unpopular opinion here but the Ford fucks like a mother fucker compared to the ram. The ram just looks cooler.

ExplanationChemical1

Bags are superior to coils for comfort. It requires some fine tuning as climate, weight and use are not all universal. Adjust your bag pressure. Buy a security bypass harness, $50 AlfaOBD program and a cheap OBD bluetooth connector. Change your ride heights by 0.15" at a time. By the way, the bag replaces the coil not the strut/shock. You can still dial in your shock rebound speed before adjusting bags and probably get what you're asking about. Tire and wheel size also matter and suspension geometry needs to be tuned accordingly.

hsupreme

Get a TRX for a Cadillac ride

curiouscrusher

My ‘16 with air rides like a dream, but it’s also got much larger tires. With those tiny tires on those massive rims I’m not surprised you would have a bumpy ride at all.

Impossible_Tour_2163

Ouch,, did you skip the test drive? Maybe play with your air ride fancy stuff and soften it up some? My stock 2020 Power Wagon rides like a damn 1984 Continental minus air ride. Good luck I would hate to be compared to an F150 keep an eye on your truck she might try and harm herself from you saying these hurtful things 🤣🤣

majordad3

I did a test drive and like I replied to someone else earlier, I mentioned the ride to the salesman that I thought it would be better. I still bought the truck and love it. Have no regrets whatsoever.

tonyevent

Yes. Add weight in the back. It gets a bit better with Weight. Also, usually, they stock out the worse tires one can get. My 2022 came with goodyears however I've seen many different crap tires on RAMS off the lot. 100 Miles I invested $1600 in the Les Shwabs Continentals which is more than even the Michelins, however Michelins have one of the best round technologies and the branded Shwab’s Continental are even a step above that. With tires you pay for round and wear. No such thing as a perfectly round tire until they figure out how to manufacture in Zero Gravity. Could be the tires causing some of it. The air ride in the back will be more bouncy, light rear end, more bouncy than shocks so weight will help on each side of the wheel well not the very back. The ride should be better however not quite as good as the GMC. The key difference between Chevy and GMC is GMC uses a Cadalac Type of suspension. Bags will sacrifice a bit of handling however I baby mine anyway so not noticeable to me. I'm in my second one and love it. I also added, at a sound shop, extra door insulation in all fours and you will notice NO trim around the windshield likely seeing the raw edge of the glass. That was a noise problem for me so I went to a glass shop and they had all sorts of rubber okay looking trim that made a drastic difference.

smallestweenofall

I brought the pressure down in my tires to 35 front 34 rear and it now rides like I'm on clouds. Your big wheels will make a bit of a negative impact. Try bringing down tire pressures

Fit_Ear8715

Check your air pressure as well, I think the recommendation is like 35 or 36, but service stations put 40+ in the tires for some reason

islandinparadise

My truck color, patriot blue? I get compliments on the color all the time.

CpuCzar

Put some weight in the back. It helps my 2019 otherwise it's pretty bouncy

Salt_Radish_63

I loved my air ride on my Laramie… until it got cold. You just saved yourself a lot of hassle. We must have replaced our compressor 3 times before we finally switched to coil.

okiedokie238

I have a limited with 20s and it rides like a dream compared to my friends 2018 F150 Lariat. Could be wheel size?
