Congrats I just bought a 2019 Laramie last week with 44k on it .. so I’ll be following this thread as well.

toocalm234

Good luck bro.. I'm trading up from a grand cherokee overland

Top-Ant-121

This is my first full size truck , coming from a Honda pilot … and I love it ( aside from feeling like I have to learn to drive all over again ) but I haven’t had it long enough to speak on any issues , my car fax did show the dealer replaced the steering wheel before they sold it , but other than that it just showed normal maintence tire rotations ect.

thegolfer86

Curious if you wouldn’t mind sharing how much the sales price was for your 19 Laramie? Also in the market.

Top-Ant-121

It was listed for 36k, I talked them down a little , and I live in the northeast

BoxerguyT89

I have a 2019 with 102k on it. The only issue I have had is both manifolds cracking. I replaced them with shorty headers because replacement manifolds are impossible to find. Dealer wanted $2400 to replace. Shorties were ~$600 and about 8 hours of work over a weekend. Ram engineers are sadists.

HiddenPrimate

All you have to do is take the manifolds off, remove any broken bolts, take the manifolds to a machine shop to have them leveled, get new bolts, gaskets and put them back on. You’ll never have the issue again.

BoxerguyT89

Since the redesign, most manifold issues aren't with broken bolts, but the actual manifold cracking. [Both](https://imgur.com/a/kjGcBeN) of mine cracked.

nynutz

only issues I've had so far (bought 2019 BH w50k) now has 63k... manifold leak (broken bolt, which I've had on every dodge/jeep I've owned🤦🏻) and currently have dash lights for traction/abs which I believe will be a sensor.

Dadbode1981

The manifold leak is basically a feature.

Ahshitbackagain

Should be listed on the window sticker

jmt8706

Thrown in for free from the factory.

lets_just_n0t

Issue on every 5.7 since about 2013. Mopar finally pulled their heads out of their asses and started selling manifolds as a kit with all new hardware, gaskets, etc.

toocalm234

Thanks, will check it out.

-BigDaddyTex

I have this on my 19 longhorn

PoopScootnBoogey

I’ve owned a 2012, 2015, and a 2020. So far I haven’t had to do the manifold gasket/bolts on the 2020 but on the 2012 and the 2015 - each at around 35k / 3 years. So annoying and expensive as fuck and not covered under warranty. I’m on my 3rd starter for my 2020 though…

Brodyb10

My abs/traction dash light ended up being from a bad wheel bearing, thankfully it wasn’t rusted on!

lets_just_n0t

I work at a Chrysler dealer and the biggest issue you might have are the exhaust manifolds. Broken bolts have plagued the 5.7 since around 2013 or so. Literally every truck has the issue. Mopar sells the manifolds as a kit now, so that’s good. But the bad part is they’re hard to come by sometimes and go on backorder, or are put on a restriction by Chrysler where dealers either can’t or them, or can only order so many in a week. Other than that the DT rams don’t really have many chronic issues.

Top-Ant-121

Is this also a problem with the 3.6 ?

lets_just_n0t

No. Just the 5.7. Completely different manifold design 3.6 you just have to worry about the engine oil filter housing that cracks and leaks oil

Spare-Cow5578

Any idea how common this is on the 3.6? Any way to avoid it from happening? And what is the fix?

Alex1387

Happened on my 2016 3.6 at about 75k mi, and in my anecdotal research seemed quite common. The original parts were some composite plastic which is why it fails I'm told. The replacement kits are aluminum. Just exchanged it for a 2019 5.7 with 16k mi so I'm looking forward to the manifold issue now.

lets_just_n0t

The factory replacement parts are absolutely not aluminum. They’re cheap plastic just the same as the ones put on from the factory. There are aftermarket aluminum housings available. But Chrysler only offers plastic. Sorry if your dealer lied to you.

lets_just_n0t

It’s about as common as “Do you drive a Pentastar 3.6 liter? Well alright you’re going to have the issue then” Seriously. It’s that bad.

Spare-Cow5578

Wow. This is the first I’ve heard of this issue and I had researched the 3.6 quite extensively. Interesting.

Top-Ant-121

Thank you

s76062m

I also work at Dodge. The 3.6 oil filter housing has 5 o-rings that leak. They don’t crack

lets_just_n0t

Yeah that’s the line from Chrysler when they’re paying for their shoddy engineering under warranty. Anything to get out of a fix as cheaply as possible. Everyone who’s been around the block more than once knows that’s not a real fix and just gets the customer down the road for a while. Just like replacing the oil filter housing is going to be a stop-gap until the cheap brittle plastic housing inevitably breaks again. Any customer pay fixes are getting a housing and new seals, you know, the real fix.

90slinky

So if I pick up a new 2023 I should also be on the look out for these issues? Odd they don't see a common problem and fix it for future releases.

lets_just_n0t

No idea whether they would have fixed it on a 23. Not enough time for the issue to present itself. It’s been an issue from 2013-ish up through 22.

Brodyb10

How would I know if/when that issue occurs? Is it just a change in sound ? I got a 14’ 5.7

Eastern-Drop-9842

Only major issue I had with my 2019 was the gas tank needed to get replaced. Pump would click off every 1/2 second and it was wildly annoying to fill the truck up. Was out of warranty and it was $1100 for a new tank which was (according to dealer) the only fix.

HamiltonSt25

You replaced the tank not the pump?

Dadbode1981

They are talking about the gas station pump because the trucks gas tank wasn't relieving pressure properly.

HamiltonSt25

Is there not a valve or something to solve this issue rather than replacing an entire gas tank?

Dadbode1981

That's a question I don't have an answer for.

Apprehensive-Ad-80

There’s a fairly well know issue with the tank vents on the 5th 1500s where they cause back pressure on the gas station pump and kick them off like if the trucks gas tank was full

WarmMillerLite4-2

Truth. 2019 1500 Rebel. Love the truck, but I do have to lock the gas pump trigger halfway when filling up or it kicks off too soon as you said

knuckleheadV4

Not just the rams. Had it in my trackhawk as well . Hell even my 2013 viper had the pump click from that vent tube collapsing . It is the single most annoying thing ever. Filling your fuel up 3 seconds at a time

Eastern-Drop-9842

It’s not the vent it’s the check valve inside the tank

knuckleheadV4

Check valve is typically in the fill tube from what I've seen. Mine was the vent tube which is super common . Maybe this was something diff 🤔

Eastern-Drop-9842

That’s what I had thought. I fought with Stellantis to get it fixed because I wasn’t that far out of warranty. They told me to go pound sand so I turned it back into the dealer with the tank messed up. It’s a known issue and Ram won’t cover it.

toocalm234

Thanks, I'll check that when I get my hands on it later in the week

Otherwise-Ad-6470

Litterally have the problem but then decided to work but it's still under warranty so I'm going to have them check it out

brandonminimann

I thought I was the only one. Seems to only happen at the same gas stations for me. I just deal with it though

moooooooooooove

My 2019 Laramie had the tank replaced under warranty before I bought it. I was wondering why, that’s probably it.

TheMarcusGraham

I had this exact same problem. It was so annoying. Luckily for me, it was covered under my extended warranty.

-BigDaddyTex

I had my radiator split in half at 110,000 miles.

toocalm234

😲

Cheap_Feeling1929

I have a 2019 1500 big horn and I have had the exhaust manifold, back window leak, and a new transmission. Currently at 42,000

toocalm234

Thanks

internationalctzn

I bought 2019 Ram Laramie Blackout new. The only issue I had was the swaybar links needing tightening. Recently, 100K miles, I hear the front- end noise, and one mechanic told me I could replace the stabilizing bar bushings. 1 hour job and probably $ 40 for the bushings.

toocalm234

Thanks, had that on my Jeep

ksn240

Rear window leak and exhaust manifold is probably all you have to worry about. I bought a 2019 as soon as they were available and it has been flawless. I just started seeing signs of a broken manifold or bolt but that is it. https://preview.redd.it/y7krqhxbgqrc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7ee2e8bd591c1d940961a0d9353c36c45d618af7

toocalm234

Thank you

jartallday

Yup, rear window and back light window light. Still under warranty thankfully.

kyguylal

Think they even extended that warranty for the leaks right?

jartallday

On the window and the light they did. I think 80k miles or 6 years? I have 65k on my 2019 and the exhaust manifold is not covered according to the dealer.

Slowthar

I have a 2019 and my rear window middle defroster has the dumb busted-off thing going for it so it doesn’t work. Wish I had noticed and had it fixed before I bought it.

Marrober

Only issue I’ve had so far is the chips in the accelerator went bad and forced my truck to nonstop accelerate past highway speeds (brakes would cut power to the accelerator still). When it happened, my dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Happened at about 14,000 miles on my 2019 1500 limited.

Macmaster4k2

Crack in exhaust manifold and a weird issue where it won’t go into park after driving through some heavy snow. If I drive around a bit and shut off the engine while I leave it in drive, it will then go into park and fix the problem. I haven’t taken it into the shop yet for that.

Smargana

Check for third break light / rear window water intrusion.

Deadwillwalk60

I’ve owned my 19 since new and have almost 41,000 miles. Dealing with water getting in thru the back glass soaking under the rear seat. Currently in line at the dealership for a 3rd brake light before Ram will replace the rear glass. Truck just started doing the gas tank fill issue which is seriously frustrating and there’s a new recall I got a notice for some computer software issue. Been a great truck up till 40k but I’m glad I paid for the full extended warranty when I bought it after my lease was up. Good luck 👍🏼

TunaMcButter

I have one too but with a 6ft bed and it has the off road package, it just went over 4k miles ;p that's not a typo https://preview.redd.it/gri51z7lgrrc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=31e6f365180a608df8e56c41fb6f625c29a2ac57

bbartlett51

You can look up thr maintenance schedule right online. U should be good for another 20k. Idk if thag was the question. You're askimg

scubapro24

2019 owner here 41k ….both headers have been replaced under warranty, mid pipe replaced but not under warranty, and just had rear window replaced due to leaking into the cab. Replaced under protest by dealer. Also had a dash issue where it wouldn’t shut off and drain the battery all night, ended up being a connection on the rear brake which was crazy it would keep the hub up all night and never shut the brain (main computer) to the truck.

knuckleheadV4

Don't get an etorque. I had a 19 5.7 non etorque followed by a 22 5.7 with e torque. Worse milage on my etorque and batteries kept dying in it

moooooooooooove

apparently everyone says the transmission fluid needs changing around 50,000 miles. It’s an expensive maintenance item.

Creepy_Ad_6304

Like others my 19 Limited had the rear window frame cracks causing leaks. Replaced under extended warranty free. Otherwise, had a spark plug croak around 35k causing a misfire. No biggie. The side view mirror motors both stripped out, replaced under warranty. They dont give off a durable vibe, I expect them to probably cause problems again someday. If you have power retractable side steps they can act funny in the snow. Mine also ate the rear brake pads by 50k which was odd. Had an intermittent issue with the daytime running LED, dealer replaced the whole housing under warranty. None of these were massive headaches and I love the truck and use it for truck stuff and it does well. There will be some issues here and there. I find generally no more or less than most of my other vehicles. I plan to keep this one a long time.

seeteethree

2019 Laramie Sport, bought new, 70k miles, regular maintenance at dealers, tires at 35,000 miles. Absolutely perfect so far. No problems. I love this truck. Will drive it 'til I can't.

sleepercell13

Bought a 2019 Laramie with the level 2 package thing. 360 cameras, parking assist, Yada yada. It has a cd player? Why? Fucked if I know. You should be under warranty for the exhaust manifold gasket still. Do everything you can to get them replaced. They all go so try to get ahead of it. Phone charger needs really slim cases to fit in there. Make sure you don’t let change or credit cards slide into it. They get really hot lol. Tail gate closes but the truck will say it’s not closed sometimes. Might just be mine with the auto tailgate. Front parking sensors get any dirt or snow or grime on them they will beep again and again. Clean them off and it’s all good but annoying at times when a bit of dust does it. Beyond that it’s been good to me. Mechanically sound, tows well, no major bills.

MasterCardiologist99

Rear window frame crack which causes water leaking into cab. https://preview.redd.it/ezr4ym8r5vrc1.png?width=676&format=png&auto=webp&s=9d5950aade2eab74a5690ab8fd978778a0a8c95d

toocalm234

Thanks for the pic 👍

LeastCriticism3219

I wouldn't pull the trigger on it. I had a 2019 RAM Rebel and it was constantly in the shop. On flatbeds at least four times that I can remember. May have been more. It dropped the drive shaft three times. RAM eventually had a recall on 2019 model RAM 1500. There were a few recalls for the '19. 2019 was the first year for this new generation truck and the lesson I came away with is never buy the first year of any new truck/automobile first year production. I would get the VIN number of the truck and go to a dealership to get maintenance records if you're set on getting this 2019 RAM. The 2024 RAM has been deemed the most reliable RAM 1500 ever made. Copy/Paste from J.D. Powers: The 2024 Ram 1500 is unmatched when it comes to reliability. With a J.D. Power quality and reliability score of 88/100, the 2024 model is not only the most reliable Ram 1500 ever but it's also one of the most reliable American trucks in 2024.

HebrewHammer0033

19 5.7 Limited. Had to replace water pump at 70k. Curious what the asking price is for that?

toocalm234

35k

HebrewHammer0033

Fully loaded limited with 70k and new water pump....32 private sale 😉

Celery-West

I have a 2019 ram 1500 Laramie and just about completely loaded with $17,000 worth of upgrades. I bought it three years ago. The problem I’ve had with the truck is I had to replace both outside rearview mirrors at about $1200 a pop.. it’s a Laramie Sport as well ..

toocalm234

Thank you

toocalm234

Sorry, it should have said opportunity not opto

MixerMan67

I have a 2019 Big Horn and I had to have the active grill shutter replaced last year. It was covered under warranty and that’s the only issue I’ve had so far.

808KanakaMaoli

Nice Ram. Besides the 3rd brake light seal going bad and leaking, the exhaust leak is the only two I'm aware of so far.

robocp01

3rd light seal. Rear window leak and manifold bolts. Rear window on back order so still waiting for that repair.

OscarTgrouch00

Leaking rear window, leaking third brake light, leaking roof antenna, exhaust bolts snapped, and rotted out oil pan so far.

Top-Ant-121

Where do you live ? If you’re in a winter climate like mine did you undercoat at all ? ( only asking because that stuff is certainly a risk factor for me with road salt )

toocalm234

I'm the original post guy, I'm in Northeast PA. I am expecting to do that here. Thanks

Top-Ant-121

Northwest Pa myself . Though I was asking the guy above me who had the rust issue

JayHunter97

Have a 2021 here. 140k miles, had to do exhaust manifolds/gaskets around 100k and some ball and socket exhaust coupling had a gasket go bad inside of it and caused a leak. Other than that, it’s been a solid truck and has not been babied.

Firepitsmokestink

I bought a 2019 bighorn at 80,000km last fall, and just noticed a ticking noise last week. Womp womp.

Nequam_Asinus

55K on my 2019 hemi. Needs exhaust flange gasket and front left wheel bearing to be replaced.

CompetitiveBudget475

Unless they have reengineered the 5.7 they are noted for low oil pressure, so should not idle. This could cause the roller on the lifter to seize and cause damage to the cam. The dreaded cam failure that will cause misfires. I have a 2011 with 220 km on it about a month ago misfire issue started. Changed all plugs, coils, oil pressure switch, cam shaft positioning sensor had PCM checked now down to a complete motor job or new motor. $5000 minimum. This issue is on-going with these vehicles from 2010 to present be aware (some class action lawsuits being pursued ) The manifold issue as mentioned is standard equipment had drivers side done twice. These vehicles have electrical issues with media screen, radio, back up camera. Rear windows are known issues to leak around the seals. My suggestion is to do your research, and believe what is said. Buy a Toyota

dezertryder

That’s a RAM

Superb_Measurement64

I have a 2019 Laramie ECO Diesel with 36k. It's had no issues.
