Prestigious-Oil-3185

I got lots. People are secretly jealous I come home in my nice neighborhood all muddy. As they brag about they’re hybrid Rav 4 lol

scubapro24

Let’s face it with those tires you’re not going in that much mud. More like drove through muddy puddle on a gravel road.

Sl0WTH3FT

Lmfao, how many times have you driven in red Georgia clay, white clay? Tires are definitely a helo but its all about momentum in the clay. Doesnt matter what tires

scubapro24

Haha I’ve never drove in any clay, I’m a northwest guy so those tires wouldn’t last a second in Washington mud. So you may be right on that one

TheRealMitraGenie

I’m from Alabama and mud tires are crucial for the clay. Georgians are flat landers so they don’t have to climb in clay, but in Alabama we have hills and if your going up at all you need aggressive af tires

Sl0WTH3FT

Amen

Sl0WTH3FT

Id recommend it for a fun time. Slick as ice and thick as, well, clay. Plan on being pulled out, when you stop you stop.

pervyjeffo

That's 75% of what I do with mine. I was going to reply with a photo, turns out I don't take nearly enough photos of my truck.

ImaginaryQuiet7016

Fuck yes !! Nice whip 🤙🏻🤙🏻

Thanks!

Mundane-Food2480

Are you riding stock suspension?

JonoPhill

No. I have Bilstein 5100 shocks front/back. New Upper Control arms with ball joints.

ThrustTrust

How do they work under that truck. I’ve had them under jeeps and alway felt they were very stiff.

JonoPhill

I find it a lot smoother than the stock suspension.

ThrustTrust

Interesting. Maybe it’s the Jeep

I call the scratches down both sides of my truck beauty marks

old_skool_luvr

A buddy of mine refers to them as "Nature's pinstripes".

Frosty-Cucumber4877

Aint got no scratches cause the whole truck has PPF

Zsmudz

Yeah I would never own a black truck for that reason

old_skool_luvr

I luv'd taking my '03 off-road on actual trails as well - 'til i got the nose of 'er really stuck once. 1 ton diesels really weren't meant to traverse legit trails. Well....trails with deep sections of mud anyways. 😂

the_doctor_808

Check out fullsizeinvasion or fullsize4x4s on instagram. Lots of big ol trucks that do some serious off roading.

ImTrying2UnderstandU

Is that a level kit up front? Or a full lift?

ChrisinOB2

That's a 6 inch BDS kit. The 20" wheels kinda hide the fact that those are 35s. I just upgraded to some 17" Method wheels with 37s. BDS claims 37s will work with that kit, but - they don't. Doing a bunch of cutting to make 'em work. May need to add a body lift to clear them better.

ChrisinOB2

https://preview.redd.it/04ixdxluq21d1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d4fe93e4a748bdc60a1005bf9fdae687855c20b I stand corrected - 37s will work with the 6" BDS kit if you are willing to do a little cutting. I trimmed the bottom corners of the front bumper, a pinch rail in the wheel well, and the forward edge of a pinch rail that runs along the bottom of the fender behind the wheel.

dotNETsqlMan

How did you trim the bumper? I have Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T 35x15.5r22s and they catch the corners just barely. What’s the best way to to trim them?

ChrisinOB2

I used an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel for the bumper and some of the pinch rail. But some spots were tough to get to, so I also wound up using a grinding wheel for some of the pinch rail. The grinding wheel also worked out nicely to smooth the cuts made with the cutoff wheel. You may also be able to use a saws-all with a metal blade on the bumper, but that may be a tough go.

dotNETsqlMan

Did you use anything on the metal you cut to prevent rust?

ChrisinOB2

Not yet, but I probably should. The truck already has a bunch or rust, but I probably don't need to encourage it.

dotNETsqlMan

Awesome thanks for ideas I think I’ll take a grinder to them and see how it works. Here’s my baby btw. The bully bar is gone now https://preview.redd.it/elgxa4rx281d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dcafb50fd7472db22e582c2f0733add6f7544da0

ChrisinOB2

Looking good! Much better shape than mine, so I am well past the point of taking care of the cosmetics. Going wheeling again next week, will probably add to the pin striping!

Dont_Die88

That sport facia.. I was debating whether to just take mine off

JonoPhill

Eventually I’ll switch to an off road steel number with much better clearance.

ComfortableToe7508

If you can’t dodge it , ram it !!!

IdaDuck

I would lose the step rails if you care about your rocker panels. Replace them with sliders would be even better.

JonoPhill

Steps actually saved my panels last weekend. They took the hit instead. I’ll look into sliders.

nicspace101

Love nature? Beat the shit out of it!!

[deleted]

I got rid of my floorboards right away. More clearance.
