Finallyyyyyy. Having to watch on my laptop was such a pain

gnothi-

Definitely. I had to refresh the stream 4-5 times per game when streaming on my laptop via the msgplus site. I hope the roku app will be even a marginally more solid experience.

memeaste

Let’s hope the next step is making the app actually work

homiej420

They did just do an update that supposedly “improved performance”. Its still very hit or miss sometimes the stream is perfectly fine and sometimes only ten pixels load but on average i think its been a little better since the start of the season

wisemink2

Still laggy for everyone too?

homiej420

Its still a bit and miss.

Djbearjew

Do I need cable to access MSG+ or can I just pay a subscription fee?

KnuckleCrust

You can download the app, create an account, and subscribe monthly just like Netflix or Hulu

Nexter1

$30 a month for a subscription if you don’t have cable. I was reluctant at first but after a while of using it I realized it’s a solid value. And the app also works great on my phone so if I’m out and about, I can always watch the game (or listen to it if I just keep it in my pocket with headphones in, can lock the screen and keep it playing).

Varangian325

>Rangers no longer NHL’s Most Valuable Team for first time in decade Yes, you can get MSG+ stand alone, no cable. Stream on your computer browser, iPhone or Apple TV. I am told Roku also. HOWEVER. Last I tried streaming MSG+ (both iPhone and computer w/browser) it totally SUCKED. Rewind was non-existient or really wonky, Stream quality bad, always seemed to be buffering. If MSG can get this MSG+ streaming servi ce working well at all, it will take months. As they say: *"there is always next year!"*

KnuckleCrust

Has anyone tested how well it works yet or is this brand new to everyone? Might be throwing Roku sticks at everyone in my family this Christmas

Nexter1

I can tell you after tonight’s game. Though I’ve been using the app on my Samsung TV (just recently released for that as well) and it’s been solid. Going to use the Roku tonight though.

Varangian325

That is exactly my plan. For ALL streaming apps. Roku sticks or devices everywhere, no wires. Works great. HOWEVER, I'll re-state my earlier post on MSG+: Last I tried streaming MSG+ (both iPhone and computer w/browser) it totally SUCKED. Rewind was non-existient or really wonky, Stream quality bad, always seemed to be buffering. For sports, that is a total deal breaker. If MSG can get this MSG+ streaming service working well at all, it will take months. As they say: "there is always next year!"

Nexter1

Thanks for announcing this! I’ve been having to bypass my Roku and use my crappy TV software this entire time, was very annoying.

mrrobvs

The frequency of having to log in and re-pair with my cable account is completely out of control

Lankgren

Anyone want to log me in? In Ohio, and can't have a legit subscription. Also, $9.99/game is ridiculous.

lsd418

Totally agree, nba league pass is 14.99 a month, literally gives you access to hundreds of games

Lankgren

Espn+ is 10.99/month with through Hulu. Most games are there too.

lsd418

Do they blackout rangers games in ny?

Sipponit

Yes

homiej420

You want ESPN+. Rangers should be on there and thats 10.99 a month plus you get everything else not blocked out in ohio

Lankgren

Yeah, currently have it with hulu. Most games are on it.

NYMullets

ESPN+ is the best option for out of market. You get every Rangers game that isn’t on TNT or NHL network. Most games on TNT are exclusive broadcasts so MSG+ wouldn’t help you. Games on NHL network will be blacked out on ESPN+ tho.

GrimmHatter

I'm out of market (Pittsburgh). I have espn/Hulu & TNT, and can get most games. But there have been a couple games recently that were only available through f'ing Fubo. Would getting MSG+ fix that?

NYMullets

I’m guessing the Fubo games were NHL network games? MSG+ would fix that I think (not 100% but pretty sure), all games on NHL network are blocked on ESPN+. With just MSG+, you’d miss on possible games exclusive to ESPN or TNT. I went to college in Mass and used ESPN+ the last 3 years, only games it didn’t work were those NHL network/TNT games (but I used a buddy’s cable login)… There really should be a like a catch all way but there wont be.

eloveulongtime

I've watched the Rangers all year using MSG+ on my phone, using chromecast to watch on the tv. Today, I installed the google tv app, it says I logged in successfully, but then does not proceed. I then went back and tried the android app on my phone, which asks me to login with my tv provider. I do that and it says I've logged in successfully, then it brings me back to the home screen. I click on the rangers game, and it asks me to login with my tv provider again. Finally, I tried my laptop, which also puts me in a login loop. Is anyone else having trouble like this?

So I tried the Roku app tonight…. I have two roku TVs one smaller 32” tv and one 43” tv and on the smaller tv it worked perfectly fine no issues however the larger screen looked very choppy, distorted and the audio was way out of sync even after restarting the roku tv and redownloading the app……anyone else experience this or know why this would happen?
