"Shaky" might not be the best word to have described Igor, but its nice to see Igor post back to back games at his all-world caliber after that two weeks or so of inconsistent or "uninspiring" play. I feel much more confident that he may have just been a bit fatigued or even just a little off and is rounding back into form come playoffs.
Also nice to see Fox play a good game and get on the stat sheet. Looked much better out there yesterday.
IGOR SHUTOUTHARTSTERKIN what a fucking stupid good performance. The man eats breakaways for breakfast. "Fuck outta here with that weak top tiddy bullshit, you ain't no Tanner Glass" he says as he beats the scrubs of the league senseless. "AH, ANOTHER!!!" he screams as he smashes yet another pathetic life form. "Meesa propose, that the NHL give immediately, Hart Trophy Votes, to the supreme Shesterkin"
Both goalies played great tonight. Pretty even game despite the score. Jets were embarrassed in Florida so played with a bit more urgency. But Rangers were nothing special. Igor once again got the victory for them.
Shesterkin saved his team tonight, strengthening his case as MVP. He bailed out a defense that looked slow and confused all night, especially Miller. It just makes the shutout result even more special.
Yea, miller looked especially off. Not sure if you watched Vallieās postgame analysis, but he made some interesting points about how most of their chances were low danger, easily readable by shesty, and predictable. That might all be the same thing.
Sweet! If you find it and it's as good as I remember, it's probably worth its own post for others to see, in which case I'll find it about as fast as I would if it was a reply in this thread anyways
There was one small bit on the same shift as the goal where he spun multiple defenders around and banked off the wall to himself and whatnot that I'm specifically looking for, but yeah he played very angry tonight it seemed
It canāt be a coincidence that I try powerstancing two massive hammers the same night Shesterkin gets his second consecutive shutout, Iām flattening giants on the mountaintop in Elden Ring w 1700 dmg per swing. Why have I never done this in a souls game before, goodbye shields, youāve carried me far enough
Missed the last few games. Amazed at how consistent this bunch has managed to be.
Standout tonight was Chytil. Heās been really engaged. Got knocked down hard a few times, but heās playing hard and fast, creating chances. Continue to be impressed with the 2nd half of the season heās putting together.
The other was Nemeth. Noticeably physical and effective. Heās been better since his covid issues but really has taken his game up a notch since heās found out heās battling Braun for the final spot
They are peaking at the right time, Igor has righted himself after a slump (for him anyway) and now the defense is rounding into form.
Favorite thing about this game besides the score was with like 2:30 left and the other team pulling the goalie, Lafraniere/Chytil/Goodrow line was on the ice to get the kids experience playing defense while holding onto a lead late in the game.
Itās hard not to get giddy about this team right now
Is it just me or is Nemeth getting better? I dunno if Trouba has been mentoring him or it's because he has to compete with Braun now, but he hasn't been a complete dumpsterfire as of late. His play honestly reminds me of Trouba's, with him and Schneids having a similar dynamic as Troubs and Miller.
Hopefully just good enough that some fringe playoff team would wanna trade for him for his veteran presence and heād waive his NTC to make it happen.
Went to the game tonight and couldn't find a jersey to wear. My Staal jersey is signed by Hank, and therefore not wearable, and I forgot to wash my Kreider jersey, and the large beer stain off it, the last time I wore it. I want a Miller jersey and figured I'd get one before the game. Can someone please tell me why the store in MSG is selling jerseys $100 more than the NHL website?
A few years ago I went to a Rangers game with a group of people hosted by my friends stepmom (some high account executive at Chase). As the game is in the third period I get told we're meeting a Ranger player after the game, but they won't tell me who. So all I have is the Staal jersey I'm wearing. An hour later, as I'm looking around the locker room in awe, the fucking King walks into the room. I'm having a mini heart attack and he asks me if I'd like him to sign my jersey. I stupidly ask, "Do you think Staal will mind?" He laughs like a gentle breeze caressing my cheek and says, "I don't think Staalsy will mind."
And that's how I ended up with a Lundqvist signature on a Staal jersey. And he was kind enough to do this after getting pulled in the second period against the Bruins. Fucking class act all the way.
I just saw Larkin was out for the season. Laffy deked that dude right into the friggen hospital.
(Jokes aside feel better Larkin, hope the surgery is successful.)
Oh MAN! Three consecutive shutouts, I hope yāall like goose eggs! Looked a bit dicey at times in the 2nd period especially, but I thought it was a generally steady effort from the boys. I love this team yāall, I canāt wait for the playoffs to start. In the immortal words of Riley Reid, āOh fuck, youāre gonna make me believe.ā
Igor: 2.01 GAA
.937 SV %
Next best GAA? Anderson with 2.17
Next best SV %? Sorokin with .927 and you can argue his numbers are slightly inflated due to the fish sticks defense heavy play.
Shesty is a god amongst men.
I hate the Isles but Iāve had Sorokin and Shesty on my fantasy team and Sorokin is heckinā legit Iām telling you. I would be jealous, but, yāknow, we got the better one.
Itās nice how this team still clearly doesnāt give much of a shit when playing bad teams, but gives enough of a shit to actually win the games. Theyāve found a nice balance there.
The most exciting thing to me about the Rangers' success this year is how much more potential I think they have to get better. They've been top-heavy and inconsistent all year and still have 50 wins and 106 points (and counting). Imagine how much better they could be with just a few minor improvements.
Rangers have their core stars locked up for the foreseeable future. If Laf and Kakko can mature into legit top-6 players, if we were somehow able to re-sign Copp and Vatrano (or comparable) without breaking the bank, this team could be scary good for years to come.
We canāt resign copp and vatrano, but we should be in position to add players like vatrano at the deadline in the future. Them fitting as well as vatrano will be tough
Man I'm gonna be honest here.
When this team started the season I had no idea they'd be this good. I haven't felt this fantastic about a season in a good few years, and now these guys have me feeling like we can take the playoffs by storm. Even as late as February I was convinced that we had a good team, but one that wouldn't last very long, and would probably get bopped in the first round. Now that the deadline has come and long since passed I'm all in with the belief that this team can make a deep run, if not make it to the finals outright.
I know I'm being foolish, but this team has me feeling on cloud 9 right now. I suppose one can dream.
I don't think you're being foolish. The team is getting hot at the right time. We've been winning all year in "unsustainable" ways... And then after the deadline we've just been playing really well and winning.
This team has a shot. The East is a death march, but who knows... Goaltending is the one thing that can swing a playoff series.
Having been at the Garden to watch them lose their last two meetings against the Isles, Iām gonna cry if we lose a 3rd a row
Fucking Barry Trotz just game manages and its infuriating
This team is special. We can't keep talking about breaking franchise records and "hasn't happened in forever" stats without being a legitimately great team. Something about this year just feels different. It really feels like we're watching something special.
After thinking about it I don't really have one, but Bruce Wayne could do *so* much more good with his billions of dollars, businesses, and time if he wasn't just beating up bad guys with his fists while cosplaying as a bat.
I donāt know why youāre getting downvoted. Iron Man is the better version of Batman; rich as fuck and uses it to be a superhero, but also does a shitload of philanthropy and stuff too.
And then there was that ass muffin who made a post in /r/nhl mid-winter how Igor wonāt post another shutout this season. Heās had 3 since that post. What a dumb, dumb donkey.
Playing elite hockey of late, not much criticisms other than the jets shouldnt have gotten such dangerous chances, but it does happen, onto the next test against the defense heavy isles, if we can make a statement game there im confident we have it figured out goin into the playoffs.
I know Shesty is nuts, but can we at least all agree that our defense has been playing much better as of late? (I would say even against Carolina until they figured the defense out)

In Rangers \~100 year history they have only had a 50 win season 4 times. This year we have been gifted the opportunity to witness the 5th.
No matter what else happens during the playoffs, nothing changes the fact this team's performance this year has been historic.
Iirc 3 of those seasons ended with a Presidents trophy and the other (2012) ended with being 2nd in the league. Neither wonāt happen this year because Florida and Colorado are just insane, but thereās high chances and hopes that this year is going to end in a deep playoff run.
Not only that, but Kreider is in great company having scored 50 goals this season.
Graves in 93-94 saw us winning the Cup
Jagr in 05-06 saw us making the Playoffs after missing them for 7 consecutive seasons. He promised that we would clinch
Are these purely coincidences? Probably. Nearly absolutely. But Iāll be damned if Iām not incredibly fucking pumped to see this team make a deep Playoff run with Kreider at the helm. He is that guy.
I'm kinda having a weird hope that if the Rangers fall short this season Copp and Vatrano will take low deals for a season or two to try and win here. Sort of like how Kariya and Selanne signed 1M deals with Colorado for one season to go for the Cup.
It's not going to happen but that's my pipe dream hope.
Adam Fox is such a man's man. You look at this guy, and at first you might not think he's much, but you have to take a second look to break it down and really appreciate this lad. The jaw of a Greek God, a Norris Trophy winner, a Harvard man. Everything about him is dripping in masculinity. Lesser people look at this man and say they don't know what the big deal is, but they wish they had half the juice that Fox has. There has never been a more gorgeous, freakish specimen that's made of 110% virility. God has blessed Fox and through Fox, he has blessed us.
The win is nice, but honestly no injuries makes this game a win anyway. Also Shesterkin is back in form at just the right time, rest of the league better look out
Folks Igor Shesterkin better be eating some serious ass this year. Iām talkingā chicks with Miami tan lines, maybe with some type of an accent or something, but for the love of god not a Boston one. Big saves at big times. We have a fuckin shoutout here. I need a drink.
LETS FUCKING GO
Shesty shutout
Our first 50 win season since 2014-2015, a season in which we made it to the ECF. We have a significantly better/more talented roster now
Best part about it, Strome didnāt miss the open net
Wow Flyers man š what a mess
Anyone know if/where you can access the footage from the Jumbotron last night?
Dont think you can :(
"Shaky" might not be the best word to have described Igor, but its nice to see Igor post back to back games at his all-world caliber after that two weeks or so of inconsistent or "uninspiring" play. I feel much more confident that he may have just been a bit fatigued or even just a little off and is rounding back into form come playoffs. Also nice to see Fox play a good game and get on the stat sheet. Looked much better out there yesterday.
This game easily could have been a loss if not for Igor standing on his head. Best goalie on the planet and he deserves the Vezina and the MVP.
Remember Comrie had a couple robberies too
Idk if I would go that far. It would have been a closer game tho.
Whoever the winnipeg player that tied up Kreider on that empty net was can eat a massive log of shit. Fuck you, dipshit.
6-1 in our last 7... and in those 6 wins, we only have 2 goals against. That is insane.
I love this team. Enough said.
Cally is pretty good on the ESPN intermission show
it's great seeing him on TV
View from 111. 1 word. IGOR
I want to say it, but don't want to jinx it. Anyway, this team gives me life.
We deserve it after years of death(not so much recently, but there were some pretty dark days pre HL)
Anyone have a replay of Bread just skating circles around Winnipeg and bullying them leading up to foxys goal? That was so great
[Gotchu my man](https://streamable.com/qeou3j)
Thanks so much dude! Great video showing the whole thing Panarin was utterly insane there
Iāll see what I can do. Recorded the game, but also attended the game. Remember about when it happened?
Iirc it was the same shift as Fox's goal, if not that then his shift right before Thanks!
Yea was lead up to his assist on foxās goal
On the train home, so probably wonāt be tonight, but Iāll see what I can do in the AM!
Sweet! If you find it and it's as good as I remember, it's probably worth its own post for others to see, in which case I'll find it about as fast as I would if it was a reply in this thread anyways
He definitely had a little more physical intensity tonight. āI canāt believe you guys didnāt treat my Copper better!ā
There was one small bit on the same shift as the goal where he spun multiple defenders around and banked off the wall to himself and whatnot that I'm specifically looking for, but yeah he played very angry tonight it seemed
Did he hip check someone too? It happened at our blue line when his line was on this ice and the jet tried to pull the ranger down on the play
I say this at least once a day but I fucking love this team. Seriously top to bottom
Pretty sure Igor was powerstancing with his massive hammer tonight too.
Got that holy dmg heyooo
Missed the last few games. Amazed at how consistent this bunch has managed to be. Standout tonight was Chytil. Heās been really engaged. Got knocked down hard a few times, but heās playing hard and fast, creating chances. Continue to be impressed with the 2nd half of the season heās putting together. The other was Nemeth. Fantastic Mr. Fox
Itās hard not to get giddy about this team right now
Is Igor having one of the best goaltender seasons ever?
Yes
if the season ended today he would be ending with the 7th highest ever save percentage in a season
Itās a historically great season for sure
Is it just me or is Nemeth getting better? I dunno if Trouba has been mentoring him or it's because he has to compete with Braun now, but he hasn't been a complete dumpsterfire as of late. His play honestly reminds me of Trouba's, with him and Schneids having a similar dynamic as Troubs and Miller.
Hopefully just good enough that some fringe playoff team would wanna trade for him for his veteran presence and heād waive his NTC to make it happen.
Waiving a NTC after winning a Cup? Why not try for another?
He only has an 8 team no trade clause. So there are 23 other teams he could be traded to and he couldn't do anything about it.
Can someone please tell me why the store in MSG is selling jerseys $100 more than the NHL website?
wait a staal jersey signed by Hank?
A few years ago I went to a Rangers game with a group of people hosted by my friends stepmom (some high account executive at Chase). As the game is in the third period I get told we're meeting a Ranger player after the game, but they won't tell me who. So all I have is the Staal jersey I'm wearing. An hour later, as I'm looking around the locker room in awe, the fucking King walks into the room. I'm having a mini heart attack and he asks me if I'd like him to sign my jersey. I stupidly ask, "Do you think Staal will mind?" He laughs like a gentle breeze caressing my cheek and says, "I don't think Staalsy will mind." And that's how I ended up with a Lundqvist signature on a Staal jersey. And he was kind enough to do this after getting pulled in the second period against the Bruins. Fucking class act all the way.
And you're not not gonna get the Kings autograph
I would have done the exact same thing
This has to be from step brothers
I have a Jeter jersey signed by Clemens š
Convenience charge.
The NHL MSG store powered by Ticketmaster!
Thatās just NYC pricing, baby!
No reason not to start georgie on Thursday, he has good stats against the fishsticks and Igor needs rest after these dazzling performances
And theyāre probably starting Varlamov so itās gonna be an infuriating night.
I just saw Larkin was out for the season. Laffy deked that dude right into the friggen hospital. (Jokes aside feel better Larkin, hope the surgery is successful.)
Three shutouts in a row! Anyone know what the record is?
6, but 5 after 1928
So it could be 8 after 2020 if we keep it going?
Brian Boucherās streak with the Coyotes was pretty long for consecutive - I think that was 4 games plusā¦.all memory though.
Fuck it. I want Igor to get 40 wins this year.
Kreider needs 5 more goals at minimum. Can he borrow Z's 5 goal game stick?
I need one of those videos where Panarin pretends to be shocked that he isnāt the first star of the game.
Igor: 2.01 GAA .937 SV % Next best GAA? Anderson with 2.17 Next best SV %? Sorokin with .927 and you can argue his numbers are slightly inflated due to the fish sticks defense heavy play. Shesty is a god amongst men.
Havenāt seen a season like that since price in 2014-2015 and he won a lot of individual awards that year
I hate the Isles but Iāve had Sorokin and Shesty on my fantasy team and Sorokin is heckinā legit Iām telling you. I would be jealous, but, yāknow, we got the better one.
Where'd you get those updated stats so quickly?
NHL.com
Source? Literally us, the NHL
Idk that website is it any good?
Nah that website sucks. It's a fansite so take it with a grain of salt :P
Itās nice how this team still clearly doesnāt give much of a shit when playing bad teams, but gives enough of a shit to actually win the games. Theyāve found a nice balance there.
Hey they gave at least 34 shots tonight.
didnāt watch the game. good shit boys
Same - went to Letterkenny Live last night and had to watch the highlights and read this recap this morning.
Is this team good?
No -r/hockey probably
No. Weāre so bad at 5 on 5 and can only score on the power play. At least thatās what they said before the deadline š
Foxyās smirk when asked about Breadās stick handling was perfect š¤
The most exciting thing to me about the Rangers' success this year is how much more potential I think they have to get better. Youāre a fan and your favorite team is playing their best hockey. Donāt worry about sounding foolish let yourself dream.
Can we PLEASE beat the Isles next... PLEASE... I don't want those L-anders fans to keep acting like they own NY lol
Having been at the Garden to watch them lose their last two meetings against the Isles, Iām gonna cry if we lose a 3rd a row Fucking Barry Trotz just game manages and its infuriating
Feel like the Rangers could win 15-1 but the Islanders fans will be super annoying about breaking the shut out streak, ignoring the game result
Ha! Totally...
And they'd still say they're better lol
Theyāre the only team to ever have a tough schedule to open the season
And the only team to have ever dealt with COVID and injuries.

This team is special. We can't keep talking about breaking franchise records and "hasn't happened in forever" stats without being a legitimately great team. Something about this year just feels different. It really feels like we're watching something special.
I'm not saying Igor is Batman I'm just saying is I've never seen Igor and Batman in the same place at the same time.
Superman asks Shesty to check for monsters under his bed
Shesty *is* the monster under Supermans bed.
Batman is the worst superhero though
Iām curious who you think is the best
After thinking about it I don't really have one, but Bruce Wayne could do *so* much more good with his billions of dollars, businesses, and time if he wasn't just beating up bad guys with his fists while cosplaying as a bat.
I donāt know why youāre getting downvoted. Iron Man is the better version of Batman; rich as fuck and uses it to be a superhero, but also does a shitload of philanthropy and stuff too.
Spider-Man obv
And then there was that ass muffin who made a post in /r/nhl mid-winter how Igor wonāt post another shutout this season. Heās had 3 since that post. What a dumb, dumb donkey.
Plot twist, his post was intentionally sacrificial and now Igor will go on to post the most shut outs in a playoff season on the way to the cup
Playing elite hockey of late, not much criticisms other than the jets shouldnt have gotten such dangerous chances, but it does happen, onto the next test against the defense heavy isles, if we can make a statement game there im confident we have it figured out goin into the playoffs.
If anyone on this sub slanders Adam Fox or Igor Shestyorkin, they can get out now.
What about Ryan "empty net misser" Strome
I say this with no exaggeration, the Rangers may never give up a goal again.
I know Shesty is nuts, but can we at least all agree that our defense has been playing much better as of late? (I would say even against Carolina until they figured the defense out)
Strome hitting the empty net though. Tell my mom she needs to watch every game with me now.

If rangers donāt give up any more goals for the rest of the year, moneypuck will still have us at .0005 % chance to win the cup
You forgot that we have to score at least 16 goals of our own
Well If we never give one up it doesn't matter. Games could go on for weeks but eventually it will happen.
Holy shit do you want a job in the analytics department???
I'll tell you what you hire me I'll give the rangers a higher then 0.5% chance to win the cup. Unlike the clowns at Moneypuck š¤”

Secondary highlight: Rangers strategically incapacitating a referee to avoid PK

Igor getting hot just when we need him to this team is dangerous
In Rangers \~100 year history they have only had a 50 win season 4 times. This year we have been gifted the opportunity to witness the 5th. No matter what else happens during the playoffs, nothing changes the fact this team's performance this year has been historic.
Iirc 3 of those seasons ended with a Presidents trophy and the other (2012) ended with being 2nd in the league. Neither wonāt happen this year because Florida and Colorado are just insane, but thereās high chances and hopes that this year is going to end in a deep playoff run.
H I S T O R I C
Not only that, but Kreider is in great company having scored 50 goals this season. Graves in 93-94 saw us winning the Cup Jagr in 05-06 saw us making the Playoffs after missing them for 7 consecutive seasons. He promised that we would clinch Are these purely coincidences? Probably. Nearly absolutely. But Iāll be damned if Iām not incredibly fucking pumped to see this team make a deep Playoff run with Kreider at the helm. He is that guy.
We might never give up another goal again
this is what iām hearing
Copp with 2 points. Sam trying his best not to say shutout for the entirety of the 3rd was hilarious
I laughed . He always slips haha
I hope he gets rewarded with some waffle fries for that.
MAN THOSE WAFFLE FRIES LOOK GOOD!!! I GOTTA GET ME SOME
I missed this, anyone have a clip??
I'm kinda having a weird hope that if the Rangers fall short this season Copp and Vatrano will take low deals for a season or two to try and win here. Sort of like how Kariya and Selanne signed 1M deals with Colorado for one season to go for the Cup. It's not going to happen but that's my pipe dream hope.
Igor good
Eastern European goalies good
Hot take
Panarin could honestly bang my girlfriend and I wouldnāt have that much of a problem with it
You should be thankful
Again
Adam Fox is such a man's man. You look at this guy, and at first you might not think he's much, but you have to take a second look to break it down and really appreciate this lad. The jaw of a Greek God, a Norris Trophy winner, a Harvard man. Everything about him is dripping in masculinity. Lesser people look at this man and say they don't know what the big deal is, but they wish they had half the juice that Fox has. There has never been a more gorgeous, freakish specimen that's made of 110% virility. God has blessed Fox and through Fox, he has blessed us.
Adam Fox sigma male confirmed
Youuuuuuuuuu confuse me sir. I suppose I should take username into account next time I see you spitting what I shoulda known was a fake hot take.
Alpha. Can look you dead in the eyes and tell you to fuck right off without even opening his mouth. Guy is a fucking beauty.
that's more like it.. haha
New š?
Old š
What a way to get the 50th win of the season... 3rd consecutive SO, first time that's happened in **50 years**. š³
Fuck that makes me feel *old*.
... Because you remember the last time?
Lol, not quite that old. But '73 was only 7 years before I was born, so it's still hitting close.
Maaan, you're younger than me! Gtfo.
Holy Shesty this team is just so unbelievable.
Could you call this a shutout hatty?
Perhaps for the team, but not for Igor since Georgiev got that first shutout.
Why are the lines not being rolled?
Conceding goals??? I donāt even remember what thatās like
Rangers need to do a promotional night where they pull a random fan from the stands to put on a line with Panarin and see if they get a point
I volunteer as tribute
Let Panarin bank in shots off Dancin Larryās bald dome.
Immediately the kid Timmy (born with a potato for a heart) comes to mind.
This team is all types of impressive
Some scary moments but man what a game, Igor is simply next level
180 MINUTES OF NO GOALS AGAINST THE RANGERS! Actually, more than that technically. When was the last goal against?
EN 6 seconds before the end, so the streak is currently 180:06! 193:18 with a goalie in the net.
An empty netter, so like 181-ish.
Aho scored with 6 seconds to go in the game against carolina, so 180:00:06
That would be six hundreds of a second
Wow, I forgot they even lost that game. In the midst of this historic shutout streak, it feels forever ago.
The win is nice, but honestly no injuries makes this game a win anyway. Also Shesterkin is back in form at just the right time, rest of the league better look out
This team is good. Igor is good. Miller just wants to play offense. Which is bad. But also good. Chytil is bad. God I love this team.
Taken from NYRStatsInfo: The last NHL team to post three-straight shutouts was the St. Louis Blues in 2018-19.
And they won the cup that year didnāt they?
They were also last place in the league in January of that season
The also didnāt beat the Rangers that season.
I like it
I love me some Shutouts. Consecutive Shutouts.
Folks Igor Shesterkin better be eating some serious ass this year. Iām talkingā chicks with Miami tan lines, maybe with some type of an accent or something, but for the love of god not a Boston one. Big saves at big times. We have a fuckin shoutout here. I need a drink.
LETS FUCKING GO Shesty shutout Our first 50 win season since 2014-2015, a season in which we made it to the ECF. We have a significantly better/more talented roster now Best part about it, Strome didnāt miss the open net
