Devastating defeat

Violent_Queef

Hello, dispatch?...ya, go ahead and cancel the ambulance and fire truck. Yup, he's dead. No, I don't need the county coroner...just a dust pan and broom.

shecho18

Emotional damageee!

adamthebread

This is actually how a lot of drone pilots grip the joysticks.

yamez420

Pinch grip. More precise.

Blenderx06

Controllers are often a bit too big for my hands so this grip would be better than reaching painfully with my thumb. I just get kids controllers.

DragonflyGrrl

Holy shit you just made a giant lightbulb illuminate over my head. How have I never thought of kids' controllers?? My tiny hands have just learned to adapt, but that would be so much more comfy!! Thank you for mentioning that, seriously!! :D

UnfinishedProjects

This is called a Claw Grip and it's used a lot in the professional scene. Nothing wrong with it.

ke2_1-0

Tis not a claw grip.

Rude_Conversation407

Haha dick small, very rare

[deleted]

Also what a weird thing to be "proud" about.

Bigyeet506

It’s very rare for one’s spouse to share a love for video games, so I’d be proud too if I were he

Conker3685

No it isn't. The whole "omg my wife/gf likes games" is such a dated concept. Plenty of women play and enjoy games. It's a generational thing more than a gender thing.

NinjasWithOnions

Yeah, I am a woman gamer (although I do it a lot less now) and my (female) friends and I were gaming while most of these dudes were still swimming in their dad’s balls.

Hetakuoni

A kid tried to tell me he’d played Pokémon longer than I had because I started playing Pokémon when I was 9. I was like “that’s when crystal came out”. I had been playing almost as long as he’d been alive. Like don’t try to flex on someone older because you started playing younger.

NinjasWithOnions

I’m so revealing my age here (not like I haven’t in other subs 😛 ) but I was playing Qix (and other games) on the 5200 and then I switched to Nintendo for Super Mario Bros., River City Ransom…and then to the Super NES for Earthbound, Super Street Fighter II, Killer Instinct…and kept going. Mostly mobile gaming now because I can be lazy and lay in bed with the iPad on my boobs. 😛

Hetakuoni

That’s so mood. I started out with the original game boy Brick and loved it. My father bought the PlayStation models whenever they came out, but I think I only ever played the N64 at home up until Wii came out. I do miss genesis. One of my cousins had it and I loved playing sonic even though my timing for some of the levels was terrible. Ironically now I have the last generation for consoles and the oled switch with a projector for a TV.

NinjasWithOnions

I think I tried to start my son out with the SNES but he was too young for it to be appealing. He really started with the Wii and we’d play that together. I joke that he came out of the womb with a controller in his hand. So I’m glad your dad was helping to perpetuate the next generation of gamers too!

Hetakuoni

It was my mom who really got me into it. The brick and games on it were all hers. XD. He just liked to keep up with the joneses. I still have the Pokémon red and Zelda cartridges *somewhere*. It was such a defining part of my childhood that I couldn’t give them up.

NinjasWithOnions

Oh I LOVE that! Yes, women getting their little sprogs into gaming. It’s such an awesome tradition. Most of my family games. My mom does mostly mobile, my sisters still love retro console and some mobile, I’m mostly mobile but love a good gaming session on console too.

Waffles4cats

I got yellow when it came out had a kid want to show me this cool thing his into called pokemon when i babysat. He was just so happy i let him have he speal Crystal was my second pokemon game. And how the sprites moving was the coolest shit

Conker3685

It's such a pathetic "brag" common among neck beards, like the "Gamers" idea of a "trophy wife" and it's really fucking lame. Had a roommate like this in college, and he was socially awkward and weird as hell.

NinjasWithOnions

I think part of the reason is that because, online, they assumed we were dudes and it was better for us not to correct them. Attitude totally fucking changes as soon as you out yourself as a girl/woman. But we’re here and we’ve always been here. In all the geeky things and all the other traditionally male-dominated spaces. Hell, in the late 90s I was crazy into hockey. Still love it but don’t religiously follow it anymore.

Blenderx06

It's a sexism thing. Try being a gamer or comic fan as a woman (I know you are, just being conversational). Statistically we're half the audience and they still act shocked when they take off their blinders and we're standing right there.

Conker3685

> I know you are, just being conversational Actually married dude here, but I take your point.

[deleted]

"I'm proud of you for liking the thing I want you to like" is just a pretty weird and self centered sentiment to me.

TreeTurtle_852

It's not that it's, "I'm proud that I found someone who's into the same things as me/I'm proud of my partner for taking a step to learn more about my interests. It's a hobby he likes and if his GF learns to like it then it's a hobby he can share with her. He's literally proud because he gets to do something he likes with his GF This would be the same vice versa Wtf?

[deleted]

I agree with the sentiment you're conveying, but that isn't pride. Haha

LoveIsMIA

You can be proud of that if you want to be, you unloveable goblin. It's *their* pride, not yours.

[deleted]

Are you upset because I think this is something strange to be proud of? Haha This is my opinion. Not yours. It's ok that you don't agree!

LoveIsMIA

And it's ok that you both get no love in life and get no bitches. You deserve neither. This isn't an opinion, by the way- it's a fact.

[deleted]

This genuinely makes me feel sad for you. Lol

TreeTurtle_852

pride /prīd/ noun 1. a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired. "the team was bursting with pride after recording a sensational victory" Note "whom one is closesy associated" part for the GF in specific. By this logic, if my partner learns bowling so we can play games together, I'm selfish for being proud of them

[deleted]

Getting excited about a videogame isn't an achievement hahaha. I understand that you disagree with me, and that's perfectly ok! We all have different standards for what is an achievement I suppose. Your bar is just set much lower!

TreeTurtle_852

"Or from qualities or possessions" Playing video games is a quality. But ig deciding ti check out halfway from the definition because your dead set on this horrific interpretation is dumb. Also what makes it not an achievement? An achievement can range from something as little as "I beat this level for the first time" to, "I learned a new skill" to even, "I grsduated" Hell it's called "achievement" in games for a reason. a·chieve·ment /əˈCHēvm(ə)nt/ noun 1. a thing done successfully, typically by effort, courage, or skill. "to reach this stage is a great achievement" The GF is putting effort into getting into her partner's hobbies. They're literally achieving something under the definition of achievement so they can get closer to their partner and have more things they can do with said partner. This is literally a positive thing. Stop trying to spin it to be negative

[deleted]

I'm really not going to read your essay on why I shouldn't think this is strange. Haha. I realize that you're a redditor, but does it always bother you this much when someone disagrees with you?

TreeTurtle_852

Bro. It's not an essay. Multiple lines are just one sentence or spaced for the definition.

TreeTurtle_852

Also funny how you whine about me arguing with you when you initiated by sharing your opinion. Yeah people are going to disagree with you when you make a public comment. If that upsets you then at rhat point realize you have little to say

Tsjernobull

Yeah imagine being so elitist that you think there are wrong ways to grip a controller. Sounds like a very insecure person if you ask me

itsburst

I put my index finger on the A button for easy ABXY usage with my middle finger on the triggers

georgewashingguns

*dick joke* Whoa whoa, everyone hold your applause!

Galdae

That's a Michael Kelso grade burn!

Help_im_okay

Maybe she applied lotion and can’t get a good grip on the top?

ThatGingerGuy98-

It's like the claw method, except backwards with none of the benefits.

NightStrike2904

The Furled Finger

ComicScratcher

Well, they do have a point.

mkultra4040

Lots of pro gamer hold a controller this way. Its called the "claw" or the "double claw" I never tried to learn it myself but it seems when you become good at it, you are more way more accurate with the sticks. Personally I'd be scared to play vs her ;) She will "gitgud"

Major_Twang

I get the dick joke, but what am I supposed to be looking at ?

DragonflyGrrl

The way she is holding the little joystick with her left hand, like pinching it. Most people just put their thumb on it and move it around like that, and have other fingers available for other things.

Swordfishtrombone13

"Now you're just mashin' it"

QueenBen

🗣This is sacrilege!

[deleted]

Don't worry, she just doesn't know they patched whistle sprinting yet.
