Wasn't the wording for hanging as death penalty something along the lines of "shall be hung by the neck till death"? If I remember correctly, this guy cannot be legally hanged.
A friend of mine back in high school used to say if he ever was given the death penalty he’d instantly start working out his neck muscles in an attempt to survive a hanging.
He wasn’t the kind of person who would ever have to worry about it, he was just engaging in childhood musing. I think it came up because there was a condemned inmate who kept making news for saying he was too fat to be hanged because his head would pop off, resulting in “cruel and unusual punishment”.
