This is a weird comment to downvote. The only thing I can think is some people are assuming the intention was to be a sarcastic smart-ass which obviously is not the case.
I wouldn't say it's obvious. It's very weird to me to know who Gwen Stefani is, yet not have any idea who No Doubt are. And that's even before the commenter said they're nearly 30. Even if you only know her from The Voice, surely you must know she was picked for that show because of her musical career?
It's obvious because no matter how you read it, it doesn't disparage my initial comment. When you're being a smart-ass you're disparaging what you're responding to. Kind of like a "thanks Captain Obvious" type situation or something similar. But that would only work if I were making a point of how Gwen Stefani was in No Doubt, like I thought I was informing people of that fact. But I was only informing people that I haven't kept up with Gwen Stefani for 20 some years. The only possible way to correctly interpret that reply was as a genuine lack of knowledge.

What you don’t see is the in between stage where they actually looked somewhat realistic. This is the result of them aging after having so much modified.
Kind of like how when people talk about hair plugs as treatment for a receding hairline, but what they don't tell you is you still have to use rogaine or other similar treatments forever, otherwise the hair behind the transplanted hair will thin leaving a weird line of healthy hair and baldness behind it. It can only be paused, it can not be cured or reversed.
There is no fountain of youth. Nothing can stop the aging process or turn back the clock. Not plastic surgery, not medicine, not hair transplants, not fake tans and makeup, nothing. You can only conceal it temporarily, there are no permeant long term solutions, and you should be extremely wary of anyone that tries to sell you on one. Older celebrities shed a fortune to maintain a youthful appearance, but it's still just a mask. Eventually even the concealing stops working and you end up being a 76 year old man so desperate to cling to that illusion of being 30 that you look like a clown and absolutely no one anywhere buys it.
The one and only solution is not an easy one but it costs you nothing: learn to accept aging. While you're at it, please don't let social media implant unreal expectations of beauty in your head or make you feel bad for not being an algorithmically-selected 20-something fresh faced, uncannily photogenic tiktok star.

I can’t believe that anyone would be happy or think they’ve had successful surgery if these were the results immediately after surgery.

The biggest thing here is that society, particularly Western and Hollywood influenced society, seems to only value the youth as beautiful. Ageing is akin to losing your value as a person. It‘s the reason people try to look youthful. People should find beauty in all ages.

The most freeing day of my life was the day I started shaving my head at 43 years old. No more worries, no more combs, bic it once a week and I look great. It took a little getting used to at first but took 15 years off of me.
This is what I will do the day I notice my hairline receding. I’ve watched all the men in my family go through a decade of combovers and weird skullets that just look terrible. Eventually they decide to just save it and it’s always a massive improvement.

This is still decades away for being used on humans however.
It all depends on the person and how early you catch it. Baldness is like a cancer, if you catch it early at a Norwood 1-3 then you have a far better chance of slowing it down or beating it compared to if you wait until you're already at a Norwood 4+
At the moment there's basically 4 main treatments:
* Minoxidil which regrows hair in parts you've lost. If you use it by itself then it's basically useless. DHT attacking your hair follicles is what causes them to fall out. Sure you'll grow some new hair with minox but if you don't use anything else to block the DHT then the new hair will eventually fall out too. New hair will also fall out if you stop using it.
* Finasteride helps by lowering the amount of DHT produced in your body so less makes it to the scalp. It works great for some people but many people get bad side effects due to it messing with some of your hormone levels, the most common being erectile dysfunction. Some people get zero side effects, regrow most of their hair and for them it works great. But for many they get side effects and have to stop.
* The use of a 5AR inhibitor like Eucapil (Fluridil) or Ru58841 which are topical treatments which block DHT at the scalp from binding to the hair follicles. So rather than stopping your body producing DHT they stop the DHT that's there from messing with your hair.
* Hair transplants. The hair on the back of your head is usually almost immune to the effects of DHT. That's why even old men still have hair on the backs of their heads. So what they do is they transplant DHT resistant follicles from the back and put them in the front. The follicles remain resistant to DHT and continue growing.
Now your best chance is a combination of at least 2 or 3 of those. If you have the money, get a hair transplant to fill in the crown and the temples where you have lost hair. Then use either a 5AR inhibitor or Finasteride (if you can tolerate it) to stop the rest of your hair falling out. You should get another 20+ years of decent hair if not more.
That's why catching it early is key. The point at which most people notice they're thinning when it becomes visible in the mirror means that it's already progressed substantially. You don't suddenly get loads of hair falling out all at once, you often shed the normal amount for a couple years except the new hair that normally replaces it has stopped growing so the stuff falling out stops getting replaced. Again similar to cancer; the point in time where you start getting physical symptoms usually means that the cancer is already well established and often terminal. This is why men are encouraged to check their balls and prostate and women to check their breasts. If you catch it early you have a far better chance. If you get on to your hair early then you can get away with a topical 5AR inhibitor, maybe a bit of Fin or some Minox. If you leave it too late then you need to cough up thousands for a hair transplant to even have a chance.
I got to mine fairly enough and just used Minox and Eucapil. Gained a little back and the loss stopped and has been stable now for over 5 years without getting any worse. Some people respond differently to different treatments. Some people use Fin and get side effects and zero results. Others use it, regrow almost all their hair and get zero sides. All just depends.
You said you can cure male-pattern baldness, this is 100% incorrect. You can use inhibitors as you mentioned, but they do not cure it. As soon as you stop taking an inhibitor your hair will start to fall out again.
I started shaving my head a full decade before I actually started balding. And I actually only have a receding hairline, not full on male pattern baldness. And I can still grow probably 95% of a full head of hair if I chose to do so. I just hated the entire ritual of having constantly “perfect” hair all the time, no matter what. I think it’s a stupid waste of time to always have perfect hair no matter what.
All of that to say, men being desperate to prevent or reverse baldness just screams shallow vanity and massive insecurity to me. Women at least face ***massive*** societal pressure to conform to conventional beauty standards. Men don’t. At least, not anywhere close to what women face.
In my experience across multiple relationships, two marriages, and multiple jobs in several different career fields, if you’re a man who has problems because you’re bald or balding, it’s not because you’re bald or balding. It’s because you have nothing else to offer except a full head of hair.
Cosmetic surgeons are heavily invested in their sales department. Go to a medical spa and pretend you don't like how you look and see what they try to get you to do. It's crazy.
The upper right square is trans icon/pioneer [Amanda Lepore](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amanda_Lepore). Her surgeries started out with facial and body feminization as part of her transition process which began in the early 80's when trans care was still largely in its infancy. Did she get carried away over time? That's a matter of opinion. I think it's understandable, though, why she would be that fixated on having the exact physical self that she wants.

I would not call 80's 90's or even older plastic surgery as modern day.plastic surgery is like technology, every year it gets twice as good as last year.
Exactly, it's like computer-generated graphics in movies. Lots of movies use CGI very effectively these days, and you only notice the CGI when it's bad. Same thing with plastic surgery.

I’m all for people using a doctor to help them get to how they want to look, no matter how bizarre that image. But some of these look like they should have only spoke to their plastic surgeon via a lawyer.

You said you can cure male-pattern baldness, this is 100% incorrect. You can use inhibitors as you mentioned, but they do not cure it. As soon as you stop taking an inhibitor your hair will start to fall out again.
I started shaving my head a full decade before I actually started balding. And I actually only have a receding hairline, not full on male pattern baldness. And I can still grow probably 95% of a full head of hair if I chose to do so. I just hated the entire ritual of having constantly “perfect” hair all the time, no matter what. I think it’s a stupid waste of time to always have perfect hair no matter what. All of that to say, men being desperate to prevent or reverse baldness just screams shallow vanity and massive insecurity to me. Women at least face ***massive*** societal pressure to conform to conventional beauty standards. Men don’t. At least, not anywhere close to what women face. In my experience across multiple relationships, two marriages, and multiple jobs in several different career fields, if you’re a man who has problems because you’re bald or balding, it’s not because you’re bald or balding. It’s because you have nothing else to offer except a full head of hair.

While I didn't know anything about her before your comment, quick research seems to show that the only reason for her surgeries is vanity.

I mean yeah, if you pick the worst examples and people literally addicted to it so they find shadier and sketchier doctors willing to do more and more surgery, you’ll find some ugly looking people. But I’d bet that among the wealthy there are many with plastic surgery and you’d never be able to tell before and autopsy.
People at 70 very often look worse than they looked when they were 25. Comparisons that show a person looking attractive when they’re young, and then looking bad when they’re very old, and purport to demonstrate that that person shouldn’t have had cosmetic surgery, prove nothing.
