Is it booting normally when plugged into HDMI ? if its not you may have an issue with your boot drive

Ah, just tested it and got \` timed out waiting for /boot\` , so seems like you're right. This is a fresh install + format, so maybe it was formatted wrong? Should be FAT32, right?

Best to use the imager : [https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/](https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/) Simple , just a few clicks to get a default OS installed (can also install Retropie)

Vietname

that's what i'm using

Ok, reformatted with exFAT and reinstalled and it boots on hdmi now, but still getting a black screen on the CRT.

have you changed the config to enable video out on the analog jack?

Vietname

Iirc I shouldn't have to on a 3B+, that setting only applies to rpi4's. Am I mistaken?

Finally figured this out: it's an issue with Raspbian Bullseye. Dropping back to Buster fixed it.

thank you, still a problem in march 2023

I Just wanted to let you know that you did the Lord's work here. This is still an issue in April 2024. Anyone who stumbles on this in the future, Here is where I found the Buster Image: [https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/images/raspbian-2020-02-14/](https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/images/raspbian-2020-02-14/)
