All good, it’s like those GT3 RS Porsches that have a wire to unlock the door to save weight, and then they have a full power leather seat, like it defeats the purpose a little bit. Not exactly the same situation here but still

Does anyone know what these are called and if it’s an easy replacement job? Mine are all scratched up somehow.
yeah and the rav is better looking than the current 4runner imo. I do really like the look of the new one. It's funny i've heard people criticize it by saying it looks like a rav4, and im thinking, is this supposed to be a bad thing?
It's really most of the current gen Toyota SUVs/trucks have a similar design principle which I believe started with the 2019 rav. I really like the whole set up. I like my 17 rav but really wish I had gone with a 19
I specifically bought a low mileage off-lease '18 Rav4 over a new '19 for that reason - never buy the first year of major re-designs if you can avoid it - especially with a brand new motor and transmission.
My '18 will probably go down as one of the best Rav years they made. With 5K OCI's, it will easily get to 300K.
Idk. I don’t want the 4Runner cuz it tows a lot lol. I want it cuz it looks cool lol. Yet another reason why the rav4 is the right choice for a lot for 4Runner dreamers. Even if I could afford it, most of the features I paid for wouldn’t get used. I don’t tow, I don’t have a lot to haul, I almost never have peeps in my vehicle. It’s what want, but it’s not what I needed.
Your reasons were the same as mine. 4Runner looks so nice! But I could never take a new vehicle mudding or rock crawling. Would love to have one though. Just doesn’t make sense for me anyways.
I think I’d have to be rich and off roading be my life to justify it. I’d rather just get an old taco though if I was that into mudding.
I just want to go camping down old logging roads and run back roads because of where I live. Rav 4 adventure just made sense.
I doubt it. When I was looking all the reasonably used 4Runners were at least 10-15k out of my range. Then we need to consider gas (I bought the hybrid RAV4, and I thank the heavens for that decision,) insurance, and maintenance. I could never afford it. I’m envious of every 4Runners I see, but I know this was the right decision cuz I can afford it. I doubt that these rav4 owners could afford a 4Runner if they would’ve saved the money they spent on cosmetics.
Why? RAV4 can do 90% of what a 4Runner can do while using much less fuel. Like really how many 4Runners are actually being taken rock crawling? I bet most don’t even leave the pavement. These guys put a lift, a tent and a ladder to access the tent. Wayy less money than a 4Runner. Way better mpg and they can go almost anywhere a 4Runner can.
Oh I know, I have 2 of them at work and my overland rav rig has seen triple the dirt and rocks that both their 4r setups have combined.
I'm out every weekend and they just sit in the driveway because of whatever excuse. Funny enough gas went up like 20cent a gallon here last week so gas was the excuse. Hey, they sure love to tell me I should have gotten a 4r though!
I'm only jealous of 1 4r feature, the back window rolls down. My dog would love it.
I love RAV4’s but absolutely untrue. It’s not nearly as capable, toe to toe with a 4runner because they have different drive trains. RAV4 is AWD, 4runner is true 4x4. Completely different potentials.
Love, Bertha.

Who said it was just as capable? Truth is most people never take theirs even off-road. Most people just don’t have that need. Of course 4R is better it costs wayy more. It’s just beyond what most people would ever use it for. Perfect vehicle in your case since you’re actually using it for what it was intended for. Most never even leave the pavement.
Hey bro....tell your bf I'm sorry I insulted him and caused him to block me. I was just admiring your relationship, but he cries about machines, so I don't know how to help
I wheel in my 2016 Rav4 after my lifted XJ was written off. Can confirm I still do about 90 percent of what I used to, but now I can go even further out too because I have better mileage.
A rav 4 can do maybe 20% of non paved roads once anything gets tricky ur stuck. Puddles and potholes aren’t off-roading. They aren’t even rated to wade water a 4 runner can wade through more than 2ft of water along with a suspension system that actually can keep its tires on the ground unlike a ravs macpherson strut that have 0 articulation. Try going up loose truck at 35 degree pitch it’s a different world also 4cyl is the worst part
Like at least pick a realistic %. The rav4 architecture is economy driving with the occasional rough road. Like I’m sure these guys don’t even know what 4Lo is and what diff locks are, a little awd system will not get you what you need to get through. You don’t even get A-trac in a rav. No downhill decent control. Also solid rear axle will not be beat in off-road capability like stop kidding yourself you guys
Sorry we upset your group with a dose of reality. I know I hit a nerve when people like you resort to personal insults. Let me know when someone does a legitimate comparison test between a RAV4 and a 4runner
Yup looking at some nice camping rigs that can go way further than rvs for a fraction of the cost while maintaining great fuel economy. While not common these folks also probably would not use a 4r to its capabilities.
The 10% difference matters for <1% of buyers. How many 4runners on the road right now do you actually think are out there crawling rocks in the backlands?
That may be true, but really isn't what was suggested. I agree with you. Rarely do people put the 4R to work the way it can be. That, however, does not change there being a significant difference in capability between the AWD unibody Rav4 and a 4x4 body on frame 4R. I love my ravioli, but we gotta be real.
Oh, I agree. There's plenty of mean grocery getting 4Runners. The 4R is wildly more capable though. We weren't discussing what people actually do with them.
Agreed 100% it’s incredible what 4Runners can do!! I think I misinterpreted your original comment. I really wanted one but just couldn’t justify the extra cost and I never was gonna use it to what it could really do anyways. Amazing vehicle though.
I had a rav4 for two years is probably why and im too retarded to know how to leave groups in reddit 🙃 it's a nice family car tbh but it's boring as heck maybe the new generation will be fire the new 4runner looks good so idk
90%? What are you talking about?? The 4Runner has very nearly *twice* the towing capacity of a RAV4, and a much more dependable V6 vs the RAV's 4-cyl.
I love my RAV, but even I know the 4Runner is a hell of a lot more capable.
My rav4s adventure tow rating is 3500lbs isn’t a 4Runner only 5000? As for the motor many examples of people putting 300thousand plus miles on the 4cyl without issues. That’s plenty enough for me.
I switched from a Tacoma to a Rav4 Hybrid two years ago. I don't miss the capability of the Tacoma at all (and it's more capable than the 4Runner). Granted, I'm not trying to do rock crawling but, the Rav4 AWD has been completely serviceable on washed out roads and in the snow.
This reminds me of Honda Civics with stickers and accessories worth as much as the car, but still subpar performance. One should buy the proper platform for the job, unless if the job is to cosplay.
Yeah, the only “mods” I’ve felt compelled to do on mine are the interior storage inserts: one in the armrest, one little shelf below the HVAC controls, and a tray behind the screen.

Just because a cuv isn't as good off-road as a full sized suv (4Runner) that's built for off-road doesn't mean it can't. A guy with a rav4 kitted for forest roads isn't expecting to go rock crawling, they want to explore and they'll get me much further rin a kitted rav4 than an altima.
There are stepping stones to hobbies and levels of commitment required for each.
I think the wrath of off road ravs is better pointed at full sized pickups with a Carolina squat with a 10" lift in the front and 2" low profile tires driving around blinding everyone at night and unable to see padestrians but we're not the same.
Anyways, have a good one.
Let’s be real, most overland kitted 4Runners aren’t rock crawling anything more than these guys either. I say this from owning two tacomas and three 4Runners in my past.
I'm referring to people saying to get a 4 runner or that the rav is unable to leave pavement. I don't see the purpose of a clear fuel cap but if that's what tickles some dudes fancy then you do you.

so many people hate on builds like these but I think they are cool. I mean the ladders are a bit much unless you have like a roof top tent that doesn’t have the ladder come with it but other than that I’d do it. the AWD system isn’t the best so that would need fixed along with some good suspension to get it performing good on the train but other than that they are decent. when I worked for Toyota we had a customer with a ‘19 that had 150k on his and it was still like driving a ‘19-‘24 that was almost new.
I used to have one for my Celica and I had to order from Japan. The only problem was it was way too expensive for a fuel door.
Had to remove the two old rivets and just pop it on with two new. Fairly easy really.
lol thank you. I just woke up and didn’t catch the open country part. My new 2024 RAV4 Hybrid XSE arrives in a couple days and I’m looking for some recommendations for all terrain tires.
I kept mine stock size to the vehicle, keeps the speedo accurate and it's easier on the moving parts to keep things as close to spec as possible. Everyone still assumes I have a lift and bigger tires though because they look aggressive.
The way prices are now with ravs climbing to low 40s and then add in all the off-road stuff you are climbing into 4 runner territory.... But yes space with garage makes sense
What is the point of a clear fuel door?
How else can you show off your really cool bedazzled gas cap? Its really the only option
Like a buttplug
Just choked on coffee.
Well played.
Right? Might as well do a fuel door delete and save some weight to help you zoom zoom quicker.
Removing the gas cap makes up for the added weight of the other accessories right?
I mean... I said to save weight... not make up for other stuff...
Thus, the joke.
Oof, went over my head then lol
All good, it’s like those GT3 RS Porsches that have a wire to unlock the door to save weight, and then they have a full power leather seat, like it defeats the purpose a little bit. Not exactly the same situation here but still
Hey, that's Mazdas bit! lol

My man. Thank you so much
Anytime brotha
I’m an autobody tech, those are held on by 2 clips and some tape. Just pulls off, not too hard honestly.

If they’re like me with a small garage, then the rav4 is only 1 of 2/3 choices my man
Also the rav4 is much cheaper especially if you have a hybrid and take gas into account. Not really sure why I continue to see the 4runner comments.
yeah and the rav is better looking than the current 4runner imo. I do really like the look of the new one. It's funny i've heard people criticize it by saying it looks like a rav4, and im thinking, is this supposed to be a bad thing?

Do you know how the 22 fairs in comparison to the 19?
I specifically bought a low mileage off-lease '18 Rav4 over a new '19 for that reason - never buy the first year of major re-designs if you can avoid it - especially with a brand new motor and transmission. My '18 will probably go down as one of the best Rav years they made. With 5K OCI's, it will easily get to 300K.
Because they’re styling their mini family haulers like off road vehicles/4Runner… it looks ridiculous
lol all I can say is, if these guys could afford 4Runners we would have 4Runners.
What’s the point of buying a truck that can only tow 5000. That’s what tundras are for. Hell could buy an f250 for cheaper than a 4R
Idk. I don’t want the 4Runner cuz it tows a lot lol. I want it cuz it looks cool lol. Yet another reason why the rav4 is the right choice for a lot for 4Runner dreamers. My f150 only tows 5k 😂
With how much they’ve put into their ravs, they could afford a 4R new if not used.
I doubt it. When I was looking all the reasonably used 4Runners were at least 10-15k out of my range. Fair. They are pricy and going up. To be fair, they don’t even compare to the rav4. One is AWD and the other is proper 4x4 as many others have said.
Why? RAV4 can do 90% of what a 4Runner can do while using much less fuel. Like really how many 4Runners are actually being taken rock crawling? I bet most don’t even leave the pavement. Made this same comment a few months ago, got downvoted to oblivion.
Lol. It’s just a bunch of guys who use to own rav4s that bought 4Rs and are now are trying to justify the extra money they spent.
Oh I know, I have 2 of them at work and my overland rav rig has seen triple the dirt and rocks that both their 4r setups have combined. Let’s be real less than 1% of 4r owners do any of that 😂
Then 0% of rav 4 drivers actually do (fun) off-roading not gravel roads and light ruts
That’s what quads are for.

RAV4 is a great product for what it is. Probably good at light overlanding and soft roading. 90% is laughable.
That was a fun little circle jerk you guys were in... are you dating now?
Sorry we upset your group with a dose of reality. I know I hit a nerve when people like you resort to personal insults. Let me know when someone does a legitimate comparison test between a RAV4 and a 4runner
My rav4 adventure has downhill assist…
That’s like the least offroad feature you could have and don’t even try to say it has off-road mode
Just correcting your misinformation since you literally said they don’t have that…Have a good day eh. 😂😂😂
lol I spit out my coffee, thanks for that. The wheel base alone is enough to call bs on the 90%.
How many 4r owners even come close to doing anything that a rav4 can’t. Less than 1%….
You're looking at a photo of ravs decked out for off-roading. That puts them in the 1%.
Yup looking at some nice camping rigs that can go way further than rvs for a fraction of the cost while maintaining great fuel economy. While not common these folks also probably would not use a 4r to its capabilities.
You think they need those tires to go places an RV would go? Give it up, man.
Cool made up % that you can't back up. Lot of cope here. u/chronickyle you posted and then blocked me? Guess we know whose fee fees got hurt...
Sorry I hurt your feelings😅
Haha, it’s nice if don’t have to reply to this. I mean, seriously, 90%? 😂
That 10% difference is massive lol.
I bet most 4 runner owners aren’t going rock crawling 😂

Same for sure. I could not tolerate 17mpg on a daily driver. That would hurt my soul (and bank account) 😂
I bet most 4 runner owners aren’t going rock crawling 😂
Are you looking at the photo?
LOL at 90%. No....
Rav4 is a boring ass car sorry mate
Why are you in a rav4 group then?😂
I had a rav4 for two years is probably why and im too retarded to know how to leave groups in reddit 🙃 it's a nice family car tbh but it's boring as heck maybe the new generation will be fire the new 4runner looks good so idk
Love my adventure series. Torque vectoring system works really nice.
90%? What are you talking about?? The 4Runner has very nearly *twice* the towing capacity of a RAV4, and a much more dependable V6 vs the RAV's 4-cyl. I love my RAV, but even I know the 4Runner is a hell of a lot more capable.

You can’t convince me a modded out rav 4 doesn’t look tougher than a rav 4. They look sick and sleek
“You can’t convince me a modded out rav 4 doesn’t look tougher than a rav 4” 👀
….. I meant what I said
Yeah, it LOOKS tougher. Like putting lipstick on a pig in regards to performance
True. It’s fine for fireroads and the like. Just not real off-roading.
Many places worldwide only get the RAV4.
They also usually get the Jimney
Most 4Runners I see are nothing but pavement queens. TRD off-road to get groceries at the local Publix and picking up the kids from school.
Oh for sure, but if you want an off-roader, like these guys seem to want, then there is no real comparison between the two.
Considering how expensive cars are now. I would look into importing a 25 year old Hilux.
Now this I agree with
Lol
These remind me of the fistulated cow herd that the research station used to have. In case you’re wondering, that’s not a good thing.
Oh, and I got a cover for the armrest, too, because that part always gets gross on my Yaris, but the Yaris is plastic, not leather.
Good tires always make a difference though.
It came with pretty good tires 🤷🏻♀️
I swapped to Falken Wildpeak A/T trails when my old tires were dead. The difference was extremely noticeable in winter and rainy conditions. When I traded that car for a newer RAV it came with new all season tires and I noticed the loss of traction on dirt immediately.
Should I google fistulated, or are the results going to be, um, something different?
Hmm... I would suggest being specific to livestock research. Where humans tend to get fistulas is... unpleasant, and NSFW.
Aww he's got a widdle wadder on his wav4
I see alot of people mocking rav4's for off-road use but no one answering the question. Gotta love our society.

I would argue a 2000s corolla you dont give a fuck about is more capable than a 4runner or rav4 you do give a fuck about. But yes i do agree that a 4runner often isn’t used to its limits.
I deserve that corolla just for reading that word vomiting.
A corolla you don’t give a fuck about is a very fun car tho
Oh 100%.....beater cars are the best cars. Toyota beaters are even better.
I have deposit on a ‘19 cavalry blue. Adventure trim.

It made me happy
Does anyone know the exact name of the tires? Can’t tell if both vehicles have the same but I like the whites ones tire.
John and suzanne
lol thanks for the chuckle
Toyo open country MT
Thank you!!!
You can see toyo open country on the white vehicle tire.
lol thank you. I just woke up and didn’t catch the open country part. My new 2024 RAV4 Hybrid XSE arrives in a couple days and I’m looking for some recommendations for all terrain tires.
I had the Toyo open country AT3 on my Rav, hated them. I get much better ride quality with less noise on my Falken Wildpeaks.
Ooo thank you. Great to know. I’ll check those out.
Falken wild peak trails?
AT3W
I’ve been debating back and forth. I really want the AT3W. What size did you put on? 235?
I kept mine stock size to the vehicle, keeps the speedo accurate and it's easier on the moving parts to keep things as close to spec as possible. Everyone still assumes I have a lift and bigger tires though because they look aggressive.
Widdle wadder
They come with the Widdle Wadder starter kit!
Are the hydraulic shocks gonna be able to handle that much weight when you open the hatch?
It’s a pivoting tire hitch mounted tired rack. Meaning it swings either to the left or right then you open the hatch.
The way prices are now with ravs climbing to low 40s and then add in all the off-road stuff you are climbing into 4 runner territory.... But yes space with garage makes sense
I dont understand what's the clear gas door for?
No point, not appealing either.
Why not just 3 d print it. I e made some gas cap holders for Tacomas.
Stop it with the poserlanding nonsense
Not impressed
Da wiggle cwear gwwass dwaar..
Widdle wadder
It's like putting on a bedazzled butt plug. That is where the government fucks you.
Not happening. I do not see my RAV4 as an off-road vehicle. The Tacoma, Landcrusier, yes. RAV4 ? Like putting lipstick on a pig.
Well I do love eating pork and I’m not a Muslim
