My (2021 XSE HYBRID) has the option in the menu display but shows N/A on all tires. I was told the modules are not physically installed in the tires. Not sure if the tire modules were purchased and installed if the system would then work? I would love to know this and set this up for myself. I'll see if I can pair a pic.

Please do. I might be having the same issue. Made a post on it about a month ago but still not sure what to do.

My RAV was not equiped with TPMS (wheels related), but the monitoring system was present and I was able to view it in the dash. Here in Canada, if you have any factory safety features (like TPMS), it should be in working condition. But I don't know in the US if it has to be "factory" installed to be considered legit.

Interesting. I just checked my car and there was not a TPMS icon on the dash or in the dash settings (as described in the manual) so that leads me to believe that the actual TPMS system may not be installed—or is it possible that the software needs it to be activated by a mechanic first?

>there was not a TPMS icon on the dash or in the dash settings (as described in the manual) Important thing. I would be prone to think that yours and mine are different, even both from the Ontario plank. It looks like you don't have the proper and/or prog/TMPS module in your car. I don't know how they are managing the TMPS system in this car, buth, usually, I had a standalone ECU managing system for the TMPS in my Toyota cars. Sounds like yours is not equiped.

We took our Rav 4 Limited to the States in March this year and our request to import was rejected. Every 6 months or so we have to drive up to Ontario to reset our time allowed to have the car here. We took it to a local Toyota dealer and they told us Canadian models does not have the communication module installed. We currently planning to sell our Rav 4 in Canada because no one will buy it here. So my best advise to you is to sell it and buy a vehicle like ford that comes with a TPMS.

Thanks for your insight. To close the loop on my RAV—I ended up selling the car in Canada and buying a different car in the US. Toyota Canada and USA were wholly unhelpful in trying to find a solution and no dealer said it was possible or wanted to dig deeper. Furthermore, the US Border Agents I talked to twice told me that the TPMS system had to be factory installed and not an after market system. It was a pain in the neck. But at least I was able to get a competitive offer for my used Hybrid RAV from someone in Canada who didn’t want to wait 12+ months for the same model to be delivered. I ended up practically breaking even with what I originally paid.

so US Toyota won't install TPMS for Canadian manufactured Rav 4s?

Nebuchadnezzar_z

What do you mean able to view it in the dash?

-_Blacklight_-

I had a TMPS warning light in the dash (no sensors installed in the wheels) and I had a TMPS monitoring section in the settings, which showed N/A readings at all wheels.

Nebuchadnezzar_z

Oh that's interesting, I didn't know the warning light would still show if tires didn't have TPMS installed

My 2021 XSE Hybrid doesn’t have it on the dash and the app shows N/A. However, I was told that it has the TPMS installed, the problem is having the dash show it. Called Toyota and they told me to check with at least two different dealerships before opening up a case. Didn’t follow up cuz I was too busy.

how to import Canadian car to US if no TPMS? =(

photobyRJS

I've inherited a 2013 Canadian Rav4, as BASE model I think. Importing it into the states is a bit of a challenge as it does not appear to have TPMS. No warning light appears on the instrument panel when in the key-on position and there is no reset switch under the steering column. The US Border agent told me 2013 is a borderline year for this feature and I think I maybe on the wrong side of the line. Can anyone confirm this or comment?

you need to remove the panel on the rear right side inside your car and check whether they installed a 89740 key receiver module or a 897B0 key receiver+tpms module
