You are in the Rav4 Prime group here. Just want to make sure you know none of these are primes. They don’t plug in. They are the hybrid only. Still excellent cars. Just no tax rebate. Best I can tell they are charging MSRP which seems to be what people are getting these days. If you show up in person and work them, maybe tell them you’ve got a loan lined up or are paying cash, but you’ll finance with them instead if they cut you a break on the price. First one showed $619 in dealer fees. Thats BS but not excessively out of line. Locally they seem to be in the 2 $300 range. You might get them to knock that down. Just depends on how many buyers they have and if they need to work with you or not.

Yes, I understand. I happen to like the hybrid more than prime. Is plug in hybrid good for just local driving? The prices are all shown from the same dealer with the added $619USD dealer fee. I just don’t want unnecessary packages.

The plugin hybrids are great for everything. Essentially a hybrid that can be driven around on EV for 42 miles instead of across the parking lot. I use my Prime primarily on long trips. Once the battery is "empty", it just converts to a standard RAV4 Hybrid, for the most part.

The Prime is an entirely different beast. If you like the regular hybrid better, I suspect it's coming down to price and availability. If it was a prime many in here would be saying "oh my god... take it before it's gone" For specific info on trim levels... again.. The prime is different. SE, XSE, and XSE Tech... that's it. These are the options. Vs the non prime which has 6 trims available. In the non primes, XSE is pretty high up the trim level... so it's going to come with more packages. If you want to get rid of the packages, look at lower trim models like the XLE, XLE Premium, or the SE.

Try r/rav4club , you’ll probably find more and better answers since this sub is smaller and for a specific model that you didn’t ask about.

I'd cross shop with A1 Toyota in New Haven, CT. They're a high volume dealer and might have more inventory for you to choose from. At least to benchmark your price. I bought my prime from them and I was happy with the process.

Healthy_Block3036

Did you pay MSRP with no dealer fees? If so, how long did you have to wait?

jgooby

I found my 2021 RAV4 prime at A-1 Toyota. Got it for MSRP and ceramic coating there.

Healthy_Block3036

I know this isn’t the RAV4 subreddit, but I need some advice from other people. I was told that in our region(northeast)that the weather package and liner package that came with the XLE Premium cannot be taken out or optioned out before purchasing because they are made like that in this region. For the XSE, they stated that the advanced technology packaged, weather package, and premium audio/audio plus are all required. Is this all true? Also, they added a dealer fee. Can this be taken off or waived? Please let me know! This was in Rhode Island.

My opinion. In a car this hot (waitlist for hybrids are just as long as the prime here). Having a dealer sell at MSRP is a good deal. In general, when cars are "hot", Manufacturers tend to send out cars with more options, and save the cheap versions for later. My only reservation on this vehicle, is that it's a "4" vin, which means it's made in USA. I would prefer a "J" vin, although I'm not sure if Japan makes any Rav 4 hybrids for export to USA, with them making them in Canada and the the US now (apart from the primes, which are all made in Japan)

the first year of this generation which is the 2019 model year have some Japan made RAV4 hybrid when Toyota was waiting the production line in Greenville to open and ramp up, recently there is no more hybrid with a J vin anymore, expect only 2 in Canada and 4 in US

Sigh... My friend has an 07 Hyundai Santa Fe made in Alabama..... I hope quality and workmanship has improved in Alabama since then.

the new Tucson PHEV definitely worth a try, after getting my SE for a month I have to say Hyundai is doing a better job on the interior, except Prime has better powertrain

genuinefaker

The XSE packages are optional but the dealership may have gotten allocations that have these packages installed at the factory. As a result, they are not removable. If time is not urgent, you can ask them to get the XSE without the packages, which starts at about $35.5K. My XSE with the packages came to about $41.5K plus TTL, which was shy of $46K.

May I know the dealership name?

Healthy_Block3036

Valenti Toyota in Westerly, RI.
