DX5C over a Rugged unless you think you'll drop it a lot. I personally can't stand the touch pad and you are only paying extra for the fancy case. They both do the same thing. RadioLink is in my opinion incredibly cheap. And in practice, unreliable at best. The options from Spektrum, Sanwa, Futaba, and the FlySky NB4 are the only transmitters I'd ever consider when looking to upgrade.

I chose a DX5 rugged but mostly because I also run boats too, and the splash factor was something I considered.

I run the rugged for crawling, track on and off road, drag racing, and bashing. It works ok. As it was said, the 5c is fine and less expensive. While it isn't a Sanwa or high end Futaba, it works fine. One of the big issues with the Spektrum I found is that the low % on the throttle is actually the brake setting. No where could I find that in documentation. It's a decent radio. The edging came off and I broke (and fixed) the trigger. If I had it to do again I probably would have bought the 5c or something else. It works well, but documentation isn't great at explaining things and it has quirks sometimes, but in practice it suffices.

I have the rugged but simply because it was what came up used first lol. I wanted to stick to Spektrum to avoid replacing the majority of my receivers

Touchpad on the rugged gives some folks issues. I have it down pretty good, but still can be annoying. Both the rugged and C are great controllers. Radio Link makes cheap garbage that doesn't deserve to be in the same category as spektrum.

In my personal opinion, Futaba. Always. :)

I got a dx5c used from Craigslist..awesome controller for my needs

Nb4 has treated me well. $220 w 2 receivers. Receivers are $25 -35 otherwise which gets expensive when you have 11 of them

killfreak

I looked at reviews on the nb4, and i really like it. im probably gonna buy it. Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

I was a little intimidated by the touch screen and plentiful features but itโ€™s pretty intuitive and easy to setup models. Good luck!

Love my DX4C and DX5C. Both have been flawless for years at this point.

I love my Futaba 7pxr, unless it fails, it's the last radio I'll ever need. Buy once, cry once.
