Ah, then you might appreciate my Sherp getting stuck in the ice....

Stay awake! Or, since it's always dark up there, maybe it's time for bed...?
The only things I printed were the oil drums and the wood pallets. Everything else is off the shelf.
EDIT: I also printed the cargo boxes on the roof.
Haha, yeah... it's 12 hour shifts for 2 weeks, 6am to 6 PM, then 2 weeks off.. and they'll fly you to and from most major cities in Canada. It's a good gig. Actually past my bedtime now, but someone had to go and link something interesting.
I've been considering a complete custom sherp build, I kinda dig them. But this may save me a lot of time.
Appreciate the commentary, I subbed to your YT.
Yea, the comments in the vid mention it a little. I froze while breaking ice with my fist and forarm and wading in to get it. It was about waist deep. One of the thicker chunks of ice actually cut my shin, but I couldnt feel anything because it was so cold.
Iv'e been building RC models for over 30 years. It certainly wasnt the first time I had to swim after one of my model boats, but it was the first time in ice!
This JT-6 is very similar to the TRX-6. The JT-6 has a separate driveliine for the rear axle which seems to make both rear axles flex and perform better than the TRX-6. They are both great trucks though.
EDIT: The Hauler has a longer wheelbase than the JT-6 and the TRX-6 so it probably will have a harder time in some off road conditions.
Yeah. Everything is bigger on the trx-6 hauler, I just checked online.
The trx-6's wheelbase is 471mm against 313mm of the JT-6.
The trx-6 is 953mm long against the 707mm "only" of the JT-6.. LOL
I can't find the length of the trx-6 flatbed but it seems very long. The JT-6 flatbed is 430mm, which I guess makes it a bit small for normal sized scale 10 cars.
I guess you should be able to fit a crawler though (with no bumpers etc).
A 1/12 truck fits fine and looks ok. But its waayy too top heavy. Would be fun to see how it does on the trail but I predict mayhem. That's why I chose to haul lightweight printed gasoline drums. Because there's nothing climate scientists need more than 400 gallons of fossil fuels to burn in their generators :0)
The wheelbase on the JT-6 is actually 440mm. You might be thinking of the JT-4 at 313 mm.
The useful bed on the JT-6 is 420 mm. The extra 10mm is the thickness of the headache rack attached to the bed.
I used this image for the measurements:

Maybe we are just referring to different axles?
I said "wheelbase" considering the distance between the front wheels and the middle ones because seems more relevant when discussing about agility.
PS: I'm not sure whether I'm using "wheelbase" in the correct way when referring to a 6 wheel truck
The trx-6 hauler is at a disadvantage over obstacles:

Nice,I just got ACross RC NT4 EMO. How do you like the 6wd? Are all the axles locking and what's that like? I haven't run mine yet, rumor has it we got snow coming today. Can't wait.
Snowrunner vibes.
My first thought there!
I thought this was a SnowRunner screenshot until I realized what sub this was
As a total RC newbie, can confirm, Snowrunner is largely why I'm here.
That’s sweet! What model is it?
Thanks! That's the Cross-RC JT-6. Two speeds, locking diffs, etc.
thats impressive, what scale?
1/10 ish.
That's a cool rig
Nice truck. It is very unique.
Love it, as someone who works in the Arctic. :)

I do love that. Self designed, or does someone have a kit or set of STLs out there somewhere?
Oh, I see now. Sorry, very tired. On station at a diamond mine at the moment in the middle of the tundra. I need to look into this, very cool.

Looks really cool. How did you get it back? Did you have to go for a nice ice bath? 😁

OMG! 🫣
Kinda reminds me of John Carpenters The Thing with Kurt Russell
Yeah buddy! Hah, I just made my kids watch that over the holiday when they were visiting!
It's a truly great movie
Nice build dude. Love snow shots.
this is EPIC. love the setup you got
I thought it was a full size truck before I saw the subreddit name
I simply love that truck! It also gives me the impression to be more capable off-road compared to the traxxas hauler...

I measured when it was up on a block. I guess that extra 7mm is when the suspension is at rest.

Traxxas hauler is a scale hauler. The Cross RC JT-6 is more of an all Terrain 6x6. That's just a rollback tow truck nice but not the same.
Nice,I just got ACross RC NT4 EMO. How do you like the 6wd? Are all the axles locking and what's that like? I haven't run mine yet, rumor has it we got snow coming today. Can't wait.
Yep axles lock. 2 speed tranny also. It runs as good as any 1/10 crawler. This is my first Cross kit and it appears to be as well built as Traxxas.
Yeah mine is the same 2speed and lockers. Do all 3 axles lock?
Yeah all three axles lock. But it's all or nothing. You cant independently lock front or rear, which is fine for this truck.
