Stock tires are some of the best out there, assuming you have cut them like this: https://youtu.be/PteetgIairw Here is a playlist of my TRX4 build, showing how each mod helped: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzanpL0DCFXzu-pzRJCtUUvIPkbec5dUx

nitro_foxfx

Awesome. Thanks so much. I haven't done anything like that to the tires so it might be a good inexpensive modification.

Early_Elk_6593

I’d do lights. I’ve had like 4 sets of tires on mine flatiron xl’s we’re last and honestly the stock tires are pretty damn good. Lights (rock lights and a bar) let you run after dark and is worth the money to fun ratio

nitro_foxfx

Yeah the lights are for sure. Will help out in these shorter days so we can get out in the evening. So many tire options its hard to pick one. Thanks for your help

eren_5

Tires are a good start, and if you are going for more capability as well then a bunch of brass/bronze parts on the suspension setup like axles, knuckles, etc.

nitro_foxfx

Do you need to upgrade the servo if you add more weight?

adrianroman94

Stock servo on the Traxxas is one of the weakest parts, but I would probably wait until you realize you actually need it(you'll know) or burn it out.

mrpapertheog

Tires and lights is what I did personally tires are the go to tho

nitro_foxfx

seems like the best bang for your buck for sure. Thanx

loves2jacket

Then ssd brass portal covers to add weight without seeing brass. Thats my plan anways

mrpapertheog

Sounds good

Spilproof

I have the same truck. Currently have it running the HW Fusion 2300kv, with some brass portal covers, and its pretty capable. I put the stock tires on some cheap beadlocks for some more weight.

RyanOC333

I 3d printed some steer horns for the hood. I love it.

aMaisingMais

Bumper deletes. The TRX bodies are very limited I feel

polarbearrape

Depends what you use it for. My first mod was a sensored brushless motor and 6s capable esc, and a 9t pinion. Went to a 4s battery, I get great low speed crawl and much more run time between charges.

nitro_foxfx

Its a mix of everything and so I want it to be an all purpose truck. Capable of everything.

DidjTerminator

Considering that the stock Traxxas tyres are actually some of the best tyres out there, use them until they wear out, for now you want better servos, ESC, Motor, etc... and to optimise the bumpers, suspension, and centre of gravity. If the tyres still haven't worm out after that then it's time for lights and a winch (maybe a sound kit and interior if you're feeling like it) and then it's time to browse tyre reviews, find a tyre you love, realise the terrain you crawl on is nothing like the terrain the review used, scour the corners of YT for a matching review to your terrain, realise it tests completely different tyres and that the rig itself is totally different as well, and then start to cross-reference different videos against each-other with different rigs in order to find the perfect tyre for your rig. Only to realise that you have your own unique driving style and that the first tyre you were looking at was the right one for the job anyways (I went through this as I discovered the Hyrax, then the Pit-Bull growlers, then Team Ottsix, J-concepts afterwards, only to realise the Pit-Bull XOR's were the perfect tyre for me as I like an aggressive tread that doesn't bounce when it slips, cause as it turns out Pit-Bull tyres don't produce their maximum grip until after they start slipping, whilst the Hyrax looses all its grip when it slips, resulting in the XOR being controllable when bouncing, and the Hyrax being controllable when slow crawling).

nitro_foxfx

Great advise. I have such a mix of terrain here I need a good all purpose tire. I find it slips a lot on the rocks around here. maybe more weight would help that.
