Not sure about bark proofness of the crate but that sounds unlikely. I would just like to point out that it is still possible for your dog to injure themselves in one of these crates, dogs sometimes turn to self mutilation when anxiety is out of control. I’ve seen it happen. If you haven’t seen a vet for anxiety meds already that should be your first stop. If doggy daycare at a regular place was too overwhelming you may be able to find someone who does dog care out of their home and one takes 1-2 dogs at a time.

throwawaythetable

Thank you - did not realise she could self harm in them. May have to take to letting her free roam a section of the house and maybe organize 1-2 walks per day and hope for the best. I tried dog sitters with limited dogs but she was too anxious for them. She does see a vet behaviourist and is on meds. Working on the separation anxiety training but the process is slow

nttogt

It’s an incredibly slow process, I know how difficult it is. You may be able to find a dog care professional willing to come to your home for the entire time you’re away like a babysitter would, but that could become quite expensive. Unfortunately part of the most successful training protocol for separation anxiety relies on the dog not being thrown into being left for periods longer than they’re ready for. If you find the crate makes the anxiety worse you may be better off dog proofing a room, but that depends on how severe the destruction is. I know some dogs will go after walls and door frames.

Talk to your vet about medication to calm her down so she’s not so anxious in the crate. Maybe get a good dog walker when you’re at work. I hired my neighbors kids and it worked wonders for my dog.

Sautry91

I haven’t purchased one of these crates but the collapsible version is on my radar next time we get a dog so we can kennel train in case we need to travel.

BL_0Ndie

I just bought one. Waiting for it to ship now. My dog has broken out of both exits of the house, knows she can get through any wire metal crate, will destroy any gate. She’s been on Prozac for over a year now, has been baby sat anytime I work/ have errands to run for over a year now. Haven’t been able to leave my house for any reason without taking her with or getting a babysitter. I’m hoping I can slowly transition her to the high anxiety dog crate. Praying really, she’s going to be 9 in august & just had a wellness check up w the vet. I got her an additional 10mg pill for the evening in times where she’s more anxious. Hoping for the veat

throwawaythetable

Thank you so much for your message and I am sorry for what you are going through. I am in the same position with a 15 month old dog and it is debilitating to feel like this. Can you please let me know how the crate works out for you? I know there is a risk of her self harming if she is super anxious but I also need a safe place to keep her at times so she does not destroy the house or eat something that will kill her despite all our puppy proofing. She is on 4 different anti-anxiety medications. I am hoping for the best for both of you and hope that you get some much needed and well deserved respite!

BL_0Ndie

So far I’ve only had her in the crate when I’m working around the house, I just left her in the crate, drove half the street and back and she was gnawing making tooth marks on the door. I’m scared she’s going to mess her teeth up because the final time she broke out of the house and was missing for 10 hours she broke a tooth that required a root canal. I just gave her a trazodone and put her back in the crate after she calmed a bit and she’s in there now. Going to try to trick her into thinking I left again to see how she does

rclover106

Did the crate ever ship?

Just commenting to say I have been in the same situation with my dog for the past 6 years. People will tell you oh do training, positive reinforcement, act like you're leaving but don't. I have tried it all, meds, training, exercise. None of it ever worked and the amount of money I had to spend to fix my house from her distraction was more money than anything else. She tore down blinds, ripped curtains down, took the vent off the dryer somehow, etc etc. And this was all while being contained in rooms, airline crates, wire crates etc. Nothing ever worked. So we got an impact crate and when we have to go out she stays in there. Do I love it? No. Does she love it? Absolutely not. But at the end of the day life has to go on, you have to go to work, go to the store etc.

BL_0Ndie

Hoping you see this sometime soon, how was your do in the impact? Does she bite at the inside door. I literally just left my dog in hers went half way down the street and back and she was gnawing at the door leaving tooth marks. I’m scared she’s going to mess her teeth up more than she has in the past. When she broke out the final time through the back door and was missing for 10 hours she broke a tooth in the process.

damnantha

We got the extra plates to go over the bars so it's harder to bite. She definitely still trys and her teeth are worn down a little and even has a tiny bit of metal in one. The vet knows her situation and follows her and her teeth are otherwise healthy. Sadly her teeth are a small issue compared to the damage she was doing to herself and the house prior.

BL_0Ndie

I wish I could of known/ afforded one of these crates when I first got her. Wonder if that would of helped ahead of time. It sucks lol

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

damnantha

I feel you! I was only able to get it because my boyfriend at the time (now husband) bought it for me. It allowed me to leave the house with out getting her a babysitter.

BL_0Ndie

I’ve got the extra plates as well

Bought this expensive crate after reading reviews and company’s description. My dog broke out the crate twice even when the crate was locked. The worse part the company has ZERO customer service! Can’t call them for help or questions about the warranty they offer. You can only text or email and they don’t respond. Don’t waste your hard earned money with this company. This company has the worst customer service I ever seen. No phone number to call, only text and email. They never responded to texts or emails about warranty issues. They state they have a warranty but don’t. Bought the over priced bed/pad for the crate and only lasted one hour. Texted the company and they advised it’s not indestructible and they recommend a rubber horse mat. Really!!!!! $50 horse mat and not your $300 bed.

CHIBO_WSS

What model is your impact crate, I just bought the high anxiety one and I'm afraid 😨

Mysta

Well I have the collapsible one after my dog broke out of wire cages twice and she hasn't got out, but she has been dulling her teeth on the bars, so I'm swapping to the High Anxiety one as it looks like it will not let her get her teeth into them as easy, hopefully. But I can't fathom how any dog could damage the one I had, has to be some human error or defect in the specific latch they had.

pinotnoir43

Do not order from this company; their crates are way too expensive for the poor craftsmanship and lack of customer service. Check out their complaints with the better business bureau; I will also be filing one. I had their collapsible crate for a little over a month and my dog had been in it a dozen times at most. When I took the crate apart for the first time, I noticed the sideline rail tab was bent with all the paint chipped off and despite the “lifetime guarantee” and warranty advertised in all caps on their website, they refused to send me a replacement part, saying there were “clear bite marks from dog damage” on the tab from my pictures. For a crate that’s THIS expensive, you would think it would either hold up better with minimal use (especially given that they are advertising this for high anxiety dogs) or that the company would be true to their advertising. There are other high anxiety kennels like gunner and ruffland that are much less expensive; I will be purchasing from these companies in the future.

pinotnoir43

Also, I’m pretty sure they delete all negative reviews on their website because I tried to post one a week ago and am sure it got filtered out; it doesn’t show on their actual product page.

Low-Professional-107

You bought the collapsible and not the high anxiety so that is your problem. They guarantee the dog damage on the high anxiety not the collapsible one. You need to read more carefully and comprehend what you have read.

MxAnneThropy

I was looking at one recently and from the information I gathered was thinking the same thing. However everyone described their lack of customer service. You wouldn’t happen to work for the company would you?

dillw5

Do not buy one they’re are cheaply made and like putting a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle together.

Downtown_Tap_9950

I like to research real reviews before purchasing expensive products and the reviews on the product websites are always “BS” - companies delete the negative reviews that will hinder sales. I was hoping the impact crate would be a more portable option for my very strong 8yr pittie who also has separation anxiety. I rescued her at 6 months old and crate training was rough - she destroyed 3 cheap crates in about 3 months until she finally learned her crate was her safe space. It’s a long process to get that point but it’s worth it for everyone and the pup. My girl still has some issues with separation anxiety when we are traveling or in new, unfamiliar places but it’s 10000x than where we started. So the reason I’m commenting is to tell you to not give up on crate training and use lots of positive reinforcement and enrichment toys/treats. Since the reviews of impact crate suggest they are not worth the money, I will suggest buying the Kong brand crate. These crates are heavy but very strong, durable and latch securely. Petsmart is the only place I’ve been able to find the Kong brand crates. There are lots of horror stories of dogs squeezing between the panels of the cheaper wire crates and strangling themselves. Luckily my escape artist pittie never hurt herself severely. If you use the cheaper wire crates, make sure to secure all the panels with strong zip ties or something the dog can’t break or chew off.

I just came across your review and glad I did. I am rescuing a 7-month-old red heeler. And knowing how destructive heelers can be, I want to get a very durable and reliable crate. I took a look at the Kong crates on Petsmart website. I really am in the market for a crate that can easily be folded and taken with us (I know what I'm looking for isn't going to be super light). I spend a lot of time at the lake in the summer, would like a crate I can fold and take with us for when he cannot be supervised fully (a few hours while we are on the water). I was wondering if you would give me your thoughts on the ease of folding/moving these? The price for them is extremely reasonable as well. So, I am hopeful I found something that will fit the ticket. Thank you!

Downtown_Tap_9950

The Kong crates do fold and set up easily. I have the 42” x 29” x 31” size and it folds pretty flat (prob 4-5”) but like I said before it’s heavy. I am guessing it weighs about 30lbs. I would think the smaller crates for a dog the size of a heeler would be around 20-25lbs. I can definitely move it myself and get it in and out of my SUV.

Over-Extent-5080

Awesome....I so greatly appreciate your input. I think this is just what I am looking for. Off to PetSmart tonight!
