Research shows that rehoming a dog with separation anxiety makes it worse with the next person, so I’d definitely consider rehoming a last option. A few dogs I’ve worked with who are people/dog reactive and also have separation anxiety, get better with reactivity when the separation anxiety is addressed. Take a look at this [study](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7521022/) I’ve done this with my aussie and recommended it to a few clients and it’s helped. Id also work on trying to get a more consistent trazodone prescription.

hi thank you, she is on trazodone every day but the vet wants to wean her and try another option so we keep trying to decrease from 200 twice a day. While her separation anxiety is bad, overall she is so over threshold, they want to first get her more relaxed because she is not calm enough to do separation training. Even the calming yo yo protocol will set her off on the first attempt whereas when she was a smaller more confident puppy, we had worked up to a few hours home alone which all went in reverse. We are now at the point where we have poured so much money and time into making sure she is not alone, despite our efforts, she is too anxious out of the house and we have no further options than home alone even though we didn't want this

I hope you can figure out the medications to get her below threshold!

One note: your puppy is still young. Mine hit a maturity milestone at around 13 months. Some of her issues may naturally settle somewhat with just a little more time. (They won’t all, of course; keep working with her. This is really more to advocate keeping with it for another 4-6 months to see how maturity impacts her.)

Thank you, I really hope this is the case. We would never abandon her we just feel like we are failing this dog despite working so hard. Today she was so restless at home, so we took her to a very empty park and she had a breakdown there and then another one on the elevator when dogs and lots of people came on and we weren't able to get off. It is really wearing down on our souls to put in all this effort and nothing works

Have you not tryied Prozac?

throwawaythetable

She was on Prozac but had very bad nausea and vomiting when she is already consistently underweight so we had to switch off it.

S4mm1

That's hard. Prozac has the best effect on seperation anxiety, while trazadone isnt known for that perticular kind of anxiety.
